Pneumothorax is a life-threatening and urgent chest disease than can be detected using Chest X-Ray (CXR) image. CXR images are low resolution and diagnosis of pneumothorax based on them is error prone. Deep learning-based computer aided diagnosis systems can improve diagnosis performance of pneumothorax. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) are default networks in deep learning-based medical image process. However, CNNs fail to capture long range features. On the other side, Transformer are proposed to exploit long range feature, but they cannot capture local features. In this paper, we propose a general method with a convolution and a transformer module which can classify CXR images to diagnose pneumothorax by extracting local features, global features and global features attended by local ones using a novel architecture. Results show that the proposed method outperforms base architectures and the other previous works. © 2023 IEEE.

Keeping track of time is regarded as an essential human behavior. The question of how the brain deals with temporal information remains a subject of scholarly debate. The current investigation aims to explore the mechanism underlying time perception by extracting fractal dimension from an electroencephalogram (EEG) signal and its frequency bands. To accomplish this, Higuchi’s fractal dimension was calculated for 42 healthy subjects’ electroencephalogram (EEG) signal and its sub-bands during the time perception task. The EEG signal was recorded from 19 channels. Subsequently, a statistical analysis was conducted to compare participants who underestimated versus those who overestimated the elapsed time and significantly different channels were presented. The findings suggest an elevated level of fractal dimensionality in persons who displayed a tendency to overestimate time. The EEG signal and Gamma rhythm emerged as the most distinguishing signals between the two cohorts. The contrast in fractal dimension between the two groups was predominantly apparent in the parietal and central channels. To summarize, an increased level of complexity is discernible in the EEG signal and high-frequency rhythms when there is an overestimation of temporal duration. It can be asserted that the employment of FD yields presents an exceptional approach to comprehending cerebral functionalities, notably temporal perception. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Notable tech companies such as Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Google, and a number of game companies have launched bold plans to bring the metaverse to life. It is inevitable that in the years to come, virtual worlds will change significantly as a result of the metaverse ecosystem's ongoing enhancement and the rapid advancement of new technology. Nonetheless, a great deal of work still has to be done before the metaverse can be incorporated into our everyday lives and physical reality. This paper explores the metaverse's rising importance in the area of medicine and looks at its technological roadmap. Illegible handwriting on medical prescriptions poses a significant challenge, often leading to the misinterpretation of drug names and dosages. This issue primarily stems from doctors' use of Latin abbreviations, driven by time constraints during patient consultations. The resultant discrepancies in prescription interpretation can potentially expose patients to incorrect medications and dosages, leading to adverse effects. In response to this concern, this study proposes a novel system integrating Convolution Neural Network (CNN) and Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) models. Promising findings are reported in this study, achieving a loss of 0.4874 and an accuracy of 0.83 in the latest trial. The final model offers a potential solution to the persistent problem of illegible prescriptions, enhancing patient safety in the healthcare domain. © 2024 IEEE.

Human Activity Recognition(HAR)is an active research area due to its applications in pervasive computing,human-computer interaction,artificial intelligence,health care,and social ***,dynamic environments and anthropometric differences between individuals make it harder to recognize *** study focused on human activity in video sequences acquired with an RGB camera because of its vast range of real-world *** uses two-stream ConvNet to extract spatial and temporal information and proposes a fine-tuned deep neural ***,the transfer learning paradigm is adopted to extract varied and fixed frames while reusing object identification *** state-of-the-art pre-trained models are exploited to find the best model for spatial feature *** temporal sequence,this study uses dense optical flow following the two-stream ConvNet and Bidirectional Long Short TermMemory(BiLSTM)to capture *** state-of-the-art datasets,UCF101 and HMDB51,are used for evaluation *** addition,seven state-of-the-art optimizers are used to fine-tune the proposed network ***,this study utilizes an ensemble mechanism to aggregate spatial-temporal features using a four-stream Convolutional Neural Network(CNN),where two streams use RGB *** contrast,the other uses optical flow ***,the proposed ensemble approach using max hard voting outperforms state-ofthe-art methods with 96.30%and 90.07%accuracies on the UCF101 and HMDB51 datasets.

Accurate early diagnosis is crucial in addressing Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), a chronic retinal disease that is a leading cause of blindness among the elderly. Medical imaging, particularly fundus imaging, is essential in facilitating timely detection and intervention. Due to the variability in image sizes within our dataset, this paper introduces the SABiT-MNet model, which effectively discriminates between healthy retinas, dry AMD, and wet AMD. The model integrates a novel scale-adaptive (SA) approach by combining an autoencoder with Big Transfer (BiT) as its backbone. Unlike traditional resizing methods, which often result in the loss of critical diagnostic information, the SA model dynamically adjusts to varying image sizes, preserving key retinal features essential for accurate diagnosis. The primary aim of this architecture is to retain crucial details in fundus images to ensure precise classification. In this study, 648 subjects were recruited through the Comparisons of AMD Treatments Trials study group, sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed SABiT-MNet model outperforms state-of-the-art approaches, including transformer-based models, achieving superior diagnostic accuracy. The model recorded performance metrics of 94% accuracy, 97% sensitivity, and 93.94% specificity. To further validate the robustness of the system, we tested it on the public ODiR dataset, where it achieved similarly promising results, confirming the effectiveness of our approach. © 2025 IEEE.

In order to effectively utilize the dielectric response characteristics of transformers to diagnose the insulation state,this paper proposes a two-level hybrid optimization method for analyzing time-domain dielectric response *** optimization algorithm is based on the combined statistical indicators(CSI)and random forest(RF)*** initial feature space set is formed with 23 time-domain *** the first-level stage,statistical indices correlation,distance,and information indicators are integrated to assess the synthesis score of the characteristics,while highly redundant and lowclass discrimination characteristics are eliminated from the initial space *** the second-level stage,the Random Forest based outside bagging data theory is introduced to evaluate the least important characteristics,and the characteristics with low importance indices are excluded to obtain the final optimal feature space *** proposed method is carried out on 82 sets of data from actual dielectric response tests on oil-paper insulation ***,the final optimal feature space set,along with several other data sets,is tested via different diagnosis *** results show that the optimal feature space set obtained via the proposed method outperforms other feature space sets in terms of better adaptability and diagnosis accuracy.

The standard language is assessed, and the feelings transmitted by the individual are brought up. The purpose of sentiment analysis is to determine the polarity of a person's textual opinion. Most of the people use social media to market ourselves and share all knowledge, thoughts, ideas, and experiences with the rest of the world. Sentiment analysis has been studied by several internet companies that offer materials based on human emotions expressed through social media. Many people use social media to post and share their thoughts and feelings. The sentiment analysis standard assorts a sentence with all forms of emotions, each of which has an intensity. This study includes a sentiment analysis of diverse perspectives on social topics that are trending on social media, along with a recommendation system. This method recommends related content to viewers based on their current statement or issue. The algorithm also suggests customized video sets to users based on their social media activity, such as diverse perspectives on a particular social problem about which they actively express their thoughts on social media. NLP algorithms are utilized for sentiment analysis and recommendation systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) demand high computational capabilities, motivating researchers to leverage Processing-In-Memory (PIM) technology to achieve significant performance improvements. However, implementing complex arithmetic operations such as multiplication within memory is a significant challenge in the PIM architecture. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a PIM-enabled cache (PEC) architecture that utilizes shifters for performing multiplication operations at a low cost. We also introduce a filter-wise hardware-friendly Power-of-Two (POT) quantization scheme that quantizes weights into power-of-two values for specific filters to accelerate convolution operations with the PEC. Our experimental results demonstrate that the proposed PEC, together with the POT quantization, achieves 2.28x performance improvement on average with an accuracy degradation of 0.784%. © 2023 IEEE.

In this study a cascade controller is proposed to maintain the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) system, its comprises from two stage the first one is a conventional Proportional and Derivative (PD) controller and the second one is a Fractional Order PID (FOPID) controller is combined together for regulating the terminal voltage in AVR system, the gains of the proposed controller is tuned used a smart optimization algorithm called Squirrel Search algorithm (SSA) and adopt an Integral Time Absolute Error (ITAE) for monitoring for monitoring desired response to obtain a stable and robust response, the system response is tested using Matlab 2019 and the transient analysis is used to calculate overshoot, settling time, rise time, and peak time then compared these values selected classical controllers(PID,FOPID) to verify the robust response of the proposed controller. A robustness analysis verified the system response when there is an external disturbances, positive and negative disturbances signals are added, the controller try to face these signals, it takes 0.15 sec in negative disturbance and 0.1 sec in positive disturbance then in both states force the response to return to its desired response. © 2023 IEEE.
