Thyroid disorders represent a significant global health challenge with hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism as two common conditions arising from dysfunction in the thyroid *** and timely diagnosis of these disorders is crucial for effective treatment and patient *** research introduces a comprehensive approach to improve the accuracy of thyroid disorder diagnosis through the integration of ensemble stacking and advanced feature selection *** forward feature selection,sequential backward feature elimination,and bidirectional feature elimination are investigated in this *** ensemble learning,random forest,adaptive boosting,and bagging classifiers are *** effectiveness of these techniques is evaluated using two different datasets obtained from the University of California Irvine-Machine Learning Repository,both of which undergo preprocessing steps,including outlier removal,addressing missing data,data cleansing,and feature *** experimentation demonstrates the remarkable success of proposed ensemble stacking and bidirectional feature elimination achieving 100%and 99.86%accuracy in identifying hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism,*** enhancing detection accuracy,the ensemble stacking model also demonstrated a streamlined computational complexity which is pivotal for practical medical *** significantly outperformed existing studies with similar objectives underscoring the viability and effectiveness of the proposed *** research offers an innovative perspective and sets the platform for improved thyroid disorder diagnosis with broader implications for healthcare and patient well-being.

Advancing Bankruptcy Forecasting With Hybrid Machine Learning Techniques: Insights From an Unbalanced Polish Dataset

The challenge of bankruptcy prediction, critical for averting financial sector losses, is amplified by the prevalence of imbalanced datasets, which often skew prediction models. Addressing this, our study introduces the innovative hybrid model XGBoost+ANN, designed to leverage the strengths of both ensemble learning and artificial neural networks. This model integrates a comprehensive set of features with parameters optimized through genetic algorithms, eschewing traditional feature selection approaches. Our research focuses on an unbalanced dataset of Polish companies and reveals that the XGBoost+ANN model, in particular, exhibits outstanding performance. Optimized using genetic algorithms and without feature selection, this model achieved the highest AUC (0.958), sensitivity (0.752), and accuracy (0.983) scores, surpassing other models in our study. This remarkable outperformance, along with the robust results, marks a substantial advancement in the field of bankruptcy prediction. It underscores the efficacy of our approach in addressing the persistent challenge of data imbalance, offering a more reliable and accurate solution for financial risk assessment. © 2013 IEEE.

Traditional visual-inertial Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) systems predominantly rely on feature point matching from a single robot to realize the robot pose estimation and environment map construction. However, in complex scenarios, these traditional systems struggle with issues, such as tracking failures due to illumination changes, rapid movements, and low-texture environments, and they perform poorly in terms of mapping efficiency and global consistency. To address these challenges, we propose a centralized collaborative SLAM system that employs both point and line features for tracking in the robot and map fusion in the cloud. The proposed system leverages the fusion of point and line features across all instances in the process, which allows our method to achieve higher localization accuracy in structured, low-texture scenes. With the aid of classifying gravity-aligned vertical lines and spatial parallel lines, the proposed system can deliver faster and more accurate odometry in complex scenes. Furthermore, we developed intrarobot and interrobot loop closure detection methods based on point and line features, generating a globally consistent sparse point cloud and structured scene map in the cloud. Our method is able to build richer maps while improving accuracy compared to existing methods. Experimental results on public datasets and in real-world environments show that, compared to existing advanced methods, our approach demonstrates better performance. © 2014 IEEE.

A systematic Literature Review on the Security Attacks and Countermeasures Used in Graphical Passwords

This systematic literature review delves into the dynamic realm of graphical passwords, focusing on the myriad security attacks they face and the diverse countermeasures devised to mitigate these threats. The core objective of this paper is to identify existing security threats to graphical password schemes and the corresponding countermeasures developed to mitigate these attacks. The study process begins by identifying the usable databases and search engines to identify all the relevant resources. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were carefully selected to prioritize the study, focusing mostly on attacks and countermeasures related to graphical password schemes between 2009 and 2023. After thorough identification and selection progress, 59 studies met all the criteria. Among these studies, 47 mentioned shoulder surfing as a threat to graphical password schemes, while 20 discussed brute force attacks. Additionally, there were 21 papers on dictionary attacks, 13 on smudge attacks, spyware attacks, and social engineering, and 19 that discussed guessing attacks as threats to graphical password schemes. Furthermore, the papers identified several other attacks, including frequency of occurrence analysis attacks, video recording, eavesdropping, computer vision, sonar, and image gallery attacks, with the corresponding numbers of papers being 9, 17, 5, 2, 2, and 1, respectively. The results also highlight the countermeasures proposed in the study papers to mitigate the aforementioned attacks. Among the various countermeasures identified, most revolve around randomization, obfuscation, and password space complexity as the most commonly used techniques for enhancing the security of graphical password schemes. © 2013 IEEE.

The emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) has enabled the creation of new solutions to real-world problems, including digitalization and real-time monitoring. Plenty of research has been done in applying IoT schemes in various areas, such as Industry 4.0, smart cities or, as in the case of this paper, smart agriculture. One of the main problems in rural areas is the Internet coverage. In many cases, the infrastructure is very poor, and mountainous terrain further complicates the communication among devices. In this paper, we develop an IoT framework based on the Long Range (LoRa) wireless technology, specially designed to solve this issue (i.e., the lack of communication coverage). In particular, we have endowed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) with a LoRa gateway to improve the coverage of LoRa devices in mountainous regions. Our experiments show that not only the distance between sender and receiver but also both the height of the UAV and the Fresnel zone clearance are critical factors for communications performance in mountainous areas. © 2023 IEEE.

The study examines the multifaceted determinants influencing a project's community utility, including technological refinement, team dynamics, market feasibility, and funding sources. Crowdfunding, a prominent path for finan- cial support in the digital landscape, provides non-repayable backing. However, ensuring its effective utilization is crucial for upholding stakeholders' confidence. We propose the development of metrics to evaluate the readiness of innovative projects for crowdfunding initiatives. These metrics empower backers to facilitate the advancement or scalability of manufacturing processes prior to market entry. Based on the findings, we explore the best approaches to advance creative projects in higher education, particularly those that are started by student groups. Device connectivity has been redefined by the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, enabling diverse applications in areas such as smart cities, smart homes, and healthcare. These applications produce massive amounts of data, making it a significant challenge to offload tasks to cloud servers. However, the physical distance between devices often leads to latency issues for IoT systems, impacting time-sensitive applications. Fog computing tackles this issue by processing data closer to IoT devices. However, a high user density can strain the capacity of a macro base station, potentially leading to congestion. Drone Base Stations (DBSs) provide a flexible solution by acting as mobile relays to reduce latency and traffic burden. To address this issue, this work proposes a drone-assisted load distribution strategy in IoT networks. In our proposed approach, we deploy DBS efficiently using a greedy optimization technique. However, after the deployment of DBS, an optimal base station assignment framework dynamically connects user equipment to the most suitable base station, helping to minimize latency and enhance network performance. This dual-phase approach provides a scalable and practical solution for realtime IoT applications. Through extensive simulations, ensures that our proposed approach achieves a more balanced assignment compared to baseline algorithms. © 2025 IEEE.

These days, spectrum insufficiency is the most common issue. If the number of smartphone users who access the radio spectrum grows, the radio spectrum becomes increasingly scarce. Certain types of technology equipment are designed to work only within a specific spectrum range, and there is rivalry in specifications for various other applications. As a result, this paper effectively exploits a licensed user’s unused spectrum to reduce the crowded spectrum and eradicate the Radio spectrum shortage. Licensed primary users (PUs) and secondary users (SUs) would be accepted into a Fusion Centre (FC) based on a spectrum framework with authentication. The approved PUs begin by updating their information to FC1;thenceforth, encryption is performed on the information uploaded to FC1. This information from FC1 is stored in Cloud Storage after encryption using the Blowfish algorithm & De-oxy DNA, a fast encryption algorithm. Following that, FC2, connected to the same cloud environment, downloads the PU data uploaded. The spectrum is then allocated to the authenticated SU linked to FC2 based on signal conditions and priority. This proposed method also avoids any delay in the network and encryption by acquiring a fast encryption algorithm, making the system faster and avoiding the Primary User Emulation (PUE) attack. The automobile service industry's explosive growth highlights the need for creative approaches to boost operational effectiveness and user experience. This study introduces a Hybrid Garage Assistance system, integrating Classical Machine Learning (ML) techniques with Generative AI to optimize garage service discovery and analysis. The system employs sophisticated data processing methods, including Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) vectorization and regex-based service detection, to extract actionable insights from unstructured garage *** to the system are machine learning models Random Forest (RF) and XGBoost (XGB) which achieve high precision and recall in classifying garage services. A hybrid search mechanism, combining cosine similarity with ML-driven predictions, ensures the delivery of highly personalized search results. To further refine decision-making, the system incorporates Generative AI models such as Perplexity for web-based research, Gemini for location-specific analysis, Mistral for email sending and GPT-4 for detailed service recommendations and dall-e for creating user specific parts images. These advanced tools provide users with comprehensive information that enables them to make well-informed decisions about garage *** evaluation of the system is conducted using robust metrics, including precision, recall, F1-score, and system latency. Experimental results reveal a precision of 85%, recall of 70.8%, and an F1-score of 77.2%, demonstrating the efficacy of integrating classical ML with generative AI.
