Engagement in learning is crucial in maintaining student eagerness as fuel for student learning to achieve learning success. In e-Learning settings, engagement also plays an im-portant role as a factor influencing student learning success as students are regulating themselves during learning one-on-one using computer devices. Failing to detect student engagement may result in unsuccessful learning. In extreme cases, students may disengage and learning purpose cannot be achieved. This research aims to detect user engagement in e-Learning settings by using a deep learning approach with a feature extraction method. The dataset used in this study is the DAiSEE dataset. The dataset is in the form of videos and is extracted into frames and specific facial features. The facial area was extracted using the Mediapipe Library. The features include 1434 3D landmark features, 52 action unit features, one depth estimation feature, and three head pose estimation features. This research also conducts image selection, which selecting frames with an interval of 15 in the train, validation, and test folders. The multi-stacked Convolutional Neural Network model was used to classify four levels of engagements. The results were compared to the existing approach in engagement detection. The untuned proposed model achieved an accuracy of 48.95%, while the tuned proposed model achieved an accuracy of 52.94%. The proposed model is able to compete with state-of-the-art methods using a less complex model. Even so, the model still cannot learn labels perfectly due to a very imbalanced dataset and a possibility of model overfitting. This research is expected to be useful for educational institutions and the e-Learning field in the future. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, significant progress has been made in salient object detection. Nevertheless, there remains a need for further improvements in the effective combination of local and global perspectives. Combining global perception with the local focus can enhance the ability to capture the integrity of protruding objects while achieving accurate segmentation. In this paper, we introduce a newly proposed salient object detection network named GCA-Net, which is built upon three essential components. Firstly, we utilize atrous convolution to effectively aggregate contextual information and refine high-level semantic information via spatial pooling. Secondly, we employ 1-dim crossover operations to achieve global perception while minimizing computational effort. Lastly, We have innovatively integrated a contour-aware loss into our salient object detection task to constrain our model's predictions, leading to more accurate segmentation. After evaluating our model on the established salient object detection benchmark dataset, we conducted extensive experiments to demonstrate the exceptional performance of our method. As a result, our method achieved 1st in both Sm and MAE. © 2023 ACM.

The sixth-generation(6G) wireless network will support ubiquitous connectivity and diversified scenarios to satisfy the requirements of various emerging applications. Full spectrum is a key enabler for6G to achieve the ambitious goal of a Tbps-scale data rate. In this paper, we first review the scenario and potential spectrum plan for 6G and then focus on SpectrumChain, a blockchain-based dynamic spectrumsharing(DSS) framework for 6G. The unique characteristics of blockchain for DSS are presented along with key technologies. Finally, the conclusion and future development trends are discussed.

The challenge of interpretability remains a significant barrier to adopting deep neural networks in healthcare domains. Although tree regularization aims to align a deep neural network's decisions with a single axis-aligned decision tree, however, relying on one tree for all inputs often leads to sub-optimal performance and interoperability. To address this limitation, we propose an enhanced tree regularization method that integrates a post-hoc visual explainable model such as Grad-CAM. This approach guides the deep model to be well-approximated by decision trees tailored to the salient regions identified by Grad-CAM in the input space. We rigorously validate the effectiveness of this framework on two cancer cell datasets: CNMC, which focuses on acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells, and ISBI2016, which comprises benign and malignant skin lesions. The results demonstrate that the proposed method delivers simpler and more interpretable explanations without compromising accuracy, thereby advancing the interpretability of deep learning models in critical healthcare applications. © 2024 IEEE.

The field of education is rapidly shifting toward digital platforms;however, aviation education continues to rely heavily on traditional paper-based manuals. This persistence is largely due to the inherent complexity, scale, and high costs associated with aviation equipment, making digital transformation particularly challenging. In this paper, we utilizing the analysis-by-synthesis method is presented for multi-view 3D reconstruction of solid objects, specifically focusing on aviation tools. To facilitate this research, a custom dataset was generated using Unity, enabling controlled experimentation and performance evaluation. Comparative analysis with existing benchmarks demonstrates that, despite the intricate nature of aviation tools compared to simpler objects, the proposed architecture effectively reconstructs detailed and accurate digital replicas. This advancement has the potential to enhance aviation education by providing immersive, interactive 3D content, thereby bridging the gap between traditional learning materials and modern digital education tools. © 2013 IEEE.
