Advanced development of a system operating between humans and computers (human friendly system) is more important than the evolution of computer hardware. The salient obstacle to its progress is "How do we acquire and process Kansei? How do we produce a user model and a network service using Kansei?" For preliminary investigation, we constructed fatigue expression models based on a Bayesian network (BN) using psychological and physiological data. We proposed a convergent inference system framework using multiple BNs based on ontology and agent technology. Then we described a Kansei engineering framework for Kansei information processing in a ubiquitous home and smart home. As described herein, we design new ontological categories to construct the service model using Kansei information. Results show that the Kansei modeling using our framework addresses the inference procedure and the inference result of Kansei information as an instance of ontology.

As the feature size of VLSI circuits scales down and clock rates increases, circuit performance is becoming more sensitive to process variations. This paper proposes an algorithm of symmetrical buffer placement in symmetrical clock trees to achieve zero-skew in theory, as well as robust low skew under process or environment variations. With the completely symmetrical structure, we can eliminate many factors of clock skew such as model inaccuracy, environment temperature and intra-die process variations. We devise a new dynamic programming scheme to handle buffer placement and wire sizing under the constraint of symmetry. By classifying the wires by tree levels and defining the level-dependent blockages, the potential candidate points in the gaps of circuit blocks can be fully explored. The algorithm is efficient for minimizing source-sink delay as well as other linear cost functions. Experiments show that our method helps to obtain a balanced design of clock tree with low delay, skew and power.

To save time, improve flexibility and guarantee accuracy of the navigation system of the mobile robots, a multi-function landmark and a new navigation algorithm are proposed in this paper. With the new algorithm and landmark the mobile robots can be located by only a single landmark, and can be navigated in a large area by serial landmarks. The simple configuration and the convenient material of the landmark increased the system's flexibility and decreased the complexity of the algorithm. From the experimental results it can be concluded that the navigation system has fast navigation speed and high navigation accuracy.

Thermal behaviors of transformers have a close relationship with the ageing processes of transformer insulation. In oil immersed transformers, feature temperatures such as top-oil temperature and hot spot temperature are recommended to be monitored online. To minimize the risk of failure and to extend the serving life time of transformers, both temperature rises should be controlled within certain range. However, it is difficult to monitor the hot spot temperature of the transformer. Commonly used method is to calculate the rise of the hot spot temperature based on top-oil temperature rise, as recommended in GB/T15164-94 (Chinese standard) and IEEE C57.91. Later on, electrical-thermal analogy models were developed and proved to be accurate in practice. These electrical-thermal models present heat transfer in the transformers as thermal circuits, where each component represents different thermal distribution in the transformers. General model for the thermal circuits were improved by combining fluid transfer theory into the exponential factors. This paper provides an experimental result which was measured from a 5 kV, 100 kVA transformer equipped with fiber optic probes and thermocouples. The paper also summarizes the most often used models for top-oil temperature and especially hot spot temperature calculation. Comments on both models are given in the paper.

This paper presents the particle swarm optimization (PSO) for reactive power and voltage control (Volt/Var Control) in distribution system considering DFIG wind farm. In this paper, the reactive power output of DFIG wind farm has been considered as the control variables in the Volt/Var Control scheme by considering the reactive power compensation capability of DFIG. The minimization of total system real power loss and voltage deviation are utilized as an objective and the PSO is used to determine the reactive power output of DFIG wind farm, tap positions of load tap changer transformers (LTC) and numbers of the capacitor banks. Finally, the proposed scheme is applied to the 33-node distribution system. The results indicate that the proposed Volt/Var control scheme can improve the voltage profiles of distribution networks on a large scale.
