The attacking of the infrastructure of the computer network is seems to be one of the major problems. The increasing number of the Internet user all over the world comes with the risk that occurs from many network threats. One of the major tools for protecting the network attacking is the intrusion detection system (IDS), which make the system being the first target that will be attacked by the intruder. As we cannot avoid them, the problem is when there is an attack, how does the intrusion detection system survived. In this research, we show the restriction of the present intrusion detection system architecture and propose the new architecture that can handle the attack via the network and survive from it, using the mobile agent technology with the network topology design that hides the main resource of the network behind the intrusion detection system which separates network resource into segments and installs the monitored host onto each of network segment for robustness from all pattern of the attacking. The design avoid the single point of failure, shadow agent, together with proxy agent, fast backup and recovery mechanism, multicast group and the encryption of the communication between all the IDS for the network security.

Agent-Oriented Conceptual Modelling (AOCM) is a novel approach to conceptual modelling that has gained considerable credence within the research community over the last decade. The key innovation in AOCM is the use of an agent, together with associated concepts such as goals, plans, commitments etc. as modelling constructs. This has been inspired, in part, by the growing popularity of agent-oriented approaches to the building of intelligent systems, within the artificial intelligence and related research communities. CASO is a formal agent programming language for process specification and agent programming. It supports the formal specification of complex multiagent systems and provides a tool for process simulation. On the other hand it lacks features for modeling the rationale behind design choices. This work allows us to benefit from the complementary representational capabilities of the two frameworks.

Velocity threshold is an important parameter to affect the performance of particle swarm optimization. In this paper, a novel velocity threshold automation strategy is proposed by incorporated with Leávy probability distribution. Different from Gaussian and Cauchy distribution, it has an infinite second moment and is likely to generate an offspring that is far away from its parent. Therefore, this method employs a larger capability of the global exploration by providing a large velocity scale for each particle. Simulation results show the proposed strategy is effective and efficient. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.

As 3G became the general tendency of mobile industry, new mobile handsets are challenged to show more and more functions. In order to process high- resolution images, the high-speed data transfer technology that was originally used in communication system or server system started to be adopted in mobile handsets. It is the purpose of this paper to describe and compare some technologies for high-speed data transfer between camera and ISP (image signal processor) focusing on specifications in the PHY layer, after going over the structural features of the mobile handsets. Most of these technologies are based on serial interface and they show excellence in terms of power, bandwidth and EMI in comparison to the conventional parallel interface based on the LVCMOS technology. In order to verify this fact, this paper presents a comparison of the SMIA interfaced camera module which represents the serial interface (as an example of the subLVDS technology) and the parallel interfaced camera module which represents the parallel interface (as an example of a general LVCMOS technology).

In nonlinear Bayesian estimation it is generally inevitable to incorporate approximate descriptions of the exact estimation algorithm. There are two possible ways to involve approximations: Approximating the nonlinear stochastic system model or approximating the prior probability density function. The key idea of the introduced novel estimator called Hybrid Density Filter relies on approximating the nonlinear system, thus approximating conditional densities. These densities nonlinearly relate the current system state to the future system state at predictions or to potential measurements at measurement updates. A hybrid density consisting of both Dirac delta functions and Gaussian densities is used for an optimal approximation. This paper addresses the optimization problem for treating the conditional density approximation. Furthermore, efficient estimation algorithms are derived based upon the special structure of the hybrid density, which yield a Gaussian mixture representation of the system state's density.

This paper presents a hardware test system developed at Florida International University capable of performing the operation of modern power system infrastructure. The purpose of this system is for research and educational applications. We will describe the design and construction of this test system as well as its implementation to simulate distributed control scheme. Some important elements of the system incorporate real life, flexible power system network hardware, data acquisition (DAQ) system and telecommunication industry standard technologies to deal with issues that could trigger cascaded failures. The research effort develops new techniques for local monitoring of a power system. The data obtained are then used to coordinate the distributed control operation of the power system. This technique enables system operators to locally detect and mitigate potential cascading events before spreading to other areas.

This paper provides observations and motivations to mimic biological information processing. Alternative bio-inspired systems definitions, basics, approaches, algorithms, and chip implementations will be illustrated to offer a base of choice for bio-based Intelligent Information Processing (IIP) systems. Hybrid biological and bio-based IIP are briefly presented. Two specific applications follow with embedded bio-based systems: Bio-chemical sensing and detection E-nose; and Track improvements In the reliability of the software used in telecommunication network deployments. The biologically-based processing discoveries gleaned from observing the spikes in the brain activity of monkeys, introduced the concept of plasticity in synapses used in our embedded Spiking Neural Network (SNN) system for the E-Nose The mathematical construct of a defect tracking classifier is nonlinear, and the event to be recognized involves a sequentially varying or non-stationary phenomenon for telecommunication defect tracking and reliability estimation. Thus, Adaptive Recurrent Dynamic Neural Network (ARDNN) system using wavelet function as the basis improved the failure event estimation of software defect tracking in telecommunications and reduced the error from 88% to L25-8%.

The processors supporting the dynamic voltage scaling, called by DVS, have a feature that practically operates with discrete frequency and voltage levels. Almost of DVS algorithms select the smallest frequency level greater than the computed ideal level. Thus the system wastes a computational resource due to under-utilization. In this paper, we present an approach that the task executes its job under two adjacent discrete frequency levels, if possible, instead of the scaling factor computed by on-line dynamic voltage scaling(OLDVS) under the ideal level. This approach combines discrete DVS feature with OLDVS. So, each task can divide the given time budgets into two parts. Then the task executes its job at the lower frequency/voltage level in the first part. If the task does not complete until the end of the first part, then the scheduler increases the frequency to complete the remaining computation load with the remaining time budgets. Therefore, it can achieve more energy savings than the original OLDVS while simultaneously preserving timeliness guarantees made by real-time scheduling. Simulation results show that OLDVS provides up to 20% of additional energy savings for Intel PXA250[18] which has four discrete frequency/voltage levels.

The trends in enterprise IT toward service-oriented computing, server consolidation, and virtual computing point to a future in which workloads are becoming increasingly diverse in terms of performance, reliability, and availability requirements. It can be expected that more and more applications with diverse requirements will run on a CMP and share platform resources such as the lowest level cache and off-chip bandwidth. In this environment, it is desirable to have microarchitecture and software support that can provide a guarantee of a certain level of performance, which we refer to as performance Quality of Service. In this paper, we investigate a framework that would be needed for a CMP to fully provide QoS. We found that the ability of a CMP to partition platform resources alone is not sufficient for fully providing QoS. We also need an appropriate way to specify a QoS target, and an admission control policy that accepts jobs only when their QoS targets can be satisfied. We also found that providing strict QoS often leads to a significant reduction in throughput due to resource fragmentation. We propose novel throughput optimization techniques that include: (1) exploiting various QoS execution modes, and (2) a microarchitecture technique that steals excess resources from a job while still meeting its QoS target. We evaluated our QoS framework with a full system simulation of a 4-core CMP and a recent version of the Linux Operating system. We found that compared to an unoptimized scheme, the throughput can be improved by up to 47%, making the throughput significantly closer to a non-QoS CMP.

This paper describes real chip implementation issues of network-on-chip (NoC) and their solutions along with series of chip design examples. The solutions described in this paper cover both architectural aspects and circuit level techniques for practical chip implementation of NoC. As for architecture level solutions, topology selection, chip-aware protocol design, and on-chip serialization (OCS) for link area reduction are explained. For circuit level techniques, SERDES and synchronizer design, crossbar switch partial activation, and low-voltage link are presented as the foundations for power and area efficient NoC implementation. Regarding presented solutions for NoC implementation, this paper proposes memory centric NoC (MC-NoC) for homogeneous multi processor SoC (MPSoC). Flexibility and feasibility of task mapping on homogeneous SoC is the key feature of the MC-NoC. 8 dual port SRAMs connected to crossbar switches in hierarchical star topology network facilitate data communication between processors, regardless of task mapping into the MC-NoC. Experimental result obtained by mapping edge detection tasks on the MC-NoC in various configurations shows almost constant performance. This result proves the effectiveness of the proposed architecture. The MC-NoC based SoC is also implemented on TSMC 0.18 um process technology
