The OSGi provides a service platform which ensures the interoperability between heterogeneous technologies and various devices in home network environment. Nowadays, user access control is one of the core parts which should be cleared, but there are no concrete researches yet. So in this paper, we propose a supplemented authorization policy management framework based on RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) for user access control at home network environment in which the OSGi service platform is operated. The proposed access control framework improves effectiveness, assures privacy and provides convenience at the same time. In conclusion, we provide the base to implement the effective, safe, and convenient the OSGi service platform by proposing the new framework in authorization and user administration part.

The standard particle swarm optimization (PSO) may prematurely converge on suboptimal solution partly because of the insufficiency information utilization of the velocity. The time cost by velocity is longer than position of each particle of the swarm, though the velocity, limited by the constant Vmax, onfy provides the positional displacement To avoid premature convergence, a new modified PSO, predicted PSO, is proposed owning two different swarms in which the velocity without limitation, considered as a predictor, is used to explore the search space besides providing the displacement while the position considered as a corrector. The algorithm gives some balance between global and local search capability. The optimization computing of some examples is made to show the new algorithm has better global search capacity and rapid convergence rate.

Reliability evaluation of power distribution system is very important to both power utilities and customers. It presents the probabilistic number and duration of interruption such as failure rate, SAIDI, SAIFI, and CAIDI. However, it has a fatal weakness at reliability index because of accuracy of failure rate. In this paper, the time-varying failure rate (TFR) of power distribution system equipment is extracted from the recorded failure data of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) in Korea. For TFR extraction, it is used that the fault data accumulated by KEPCO during 10 years. The TFR is approximated to bathtub curve using the exponential (random failure) and Weibull (aging failure) distribution function. In addition, Kaplan-Meier estimation is applied to TFR extraction because of incomplete failure data of KEPCO. Finally, probability plot and regression analysis is applied. It is presented that the extracted TFR is more effective and useful than mean failure rate (MFR) through the comparison between TFR and MFR

The Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) method has some problems for SOC estimation such as a long calculation time and high sensitivity to parameter errors and disturbance. This paper proposes & reduced order EKF including an observation noise model and data rejection. To reduce calculation time, the battery model is simplified and the EKF is built as a reduced order type. To solve the model accuracy and parameter sensitivity problem caused by the simplification, the observation noise is measured separately in regions where the model is comparatively correct or incorrect. The sensitivity problem due to disturbance is decreased by the data rejection. This paper explains not only the observation noise model and the data rejection, but also the method of building and simplifying the Li-Ion battery model. Recent advances in nanotechnology have opened the door to the use of hybrid devices in integrated system-on-a-chip. The Piezo Electrochemical Transducer (PECT) effect device uses nano-dimensioned graphite fibers, where the PECT effect can be effectively used to control current and voltage levels. The PECT effect, discovered (in early 1980's) and named by co-author F. L. Vogel, uses graphite fiber intercalated with sulfuric acid (H2SO4) to shrink parallel to the graphite planes (basal plane), whereas the reverse PECT effect causes the graphite fiber to expand. The reverse PECT effect appears by reversing the direction of the electrolysis current. This paper explores the physical properties of PECT and its applications to developing novel solid-state hybrid devices, including new kinds of transducers and transistors based on graphite that will have a significant impact on future bio-inspired integrated circuits and nano-technology.

In this paper, a novel agent-based distributed intrusion detection system (IDS) is proposed, which integrates the desirable features provided by the distributed agent-based design methodology with the high accuracy and speed response of the principal component classifier (PCC). Experimental results have shown that the PCC lightweight anomaly detection classifier outperforms other existing anomaly detection algorithms such as the KNN and LOF classifiers. In order to assess the performance of the PCC classifier on a real network environment, the relative assumption model together with feature extraction techniques are used to generate normal and anomalous traffic in a LAN testbed. Finally, scalability and response performance of the proposed system are investigated through the simulation of the proposed communication architecture. The simulation results demonstrate a satisfactory linear relationship between the degradation of response performance and the scalability of the system

K-BALL is a general method for localization of anatomical phenomena of the same origin with natural discrepancies distributed over a reference space, e.g., human brain anatomical structures. In this paper, we focus on information analysis step (2nd step) of K-BALL during which landmarks extracted in its first step are evaluated. We provide a framework in which rules are automatically generated based on estimated and derived models. We show that the rules based on the derived models can improve the overall success rate of K-BALL. Each rule evaluates the extracted points by producing an intermediate confidence factor (ICNF). A total confidence factor is calculated using ICNF's to facilitate the acceptance or rejection of a set of points as landmarks of interest. Using the rules merely based on the estimated models, simulation study produced an overall success rate of 91.8%. Using the rules based on both of the estimated and derived models, this rate increased to 92.5%

The dream of pervasive multimedia retrieval and reuse will not be realized without incorporating semantics in the multimedia database. As video data is penetrating many information systems, the need for database support for video data evolves. Hence, we propose an innovative database modeling mechanism called Hierarchical Markov Model Mediator (HMMM) which integrates lowlevel features, semantic concepts, and high-level user perceptions for modeling and indexing multiple-level video objects to facilitate temporal pattern retrieval. Different from the existing database modeling methods, our approach carries a stochastic and dynamic process in both search and similarity calculation. In the retrieval of semantic event patterns, HMMM always tries to traverse the right path and therefore it can assist in retrieving more accurate patterns quickly with lower computational costs. Moreover, HMMM supports feedbacks and learning strategies, which can proficiently assure the continuous improvements of the overall performance.

In this paper, we develop a novel digital-shot system for sensing the throwing force information of shot-put athletes in real time. The digital-shot has been designed and manufactured with the same external dimensions and weight as the normal shot for open females. The three axes integrated accelerometer, as a crucial device in the force sensing system, can acquire the kinetics data along three orthogonal directions with reasonably high accuracy. By using the method of wavelet transformation, the characteristics of acceleration signals during the shot-put period can be extracted. Artificial neural network is adopted to recognise the movement pattern in different phases of shot throwing. For supplying more effective training instruction, with the help of six axes ground reaction force measuring apparatus, high-speed photography and surface electromyographic signal remote measuring device etc, an integrated platform of shot-put athlete biomechanical information acquisition is constructed. Based on the fusion of multi-targets and multi-parameters information, the shot-put athletes coaching system is proposed, which not only can supply constructive guidance for athletes to improve their skills, but also provide a new research platform of motion human modeling.

There are many satellites in orbit using total power microwave radiometers with external calibration targets. Pre- launch and on-orbit calibrations have been developed and applied to ensure accurate measurements over decades. But because of different designs as well as instrument aging effects, subsequent calibration is necessary to improve or maintain measurement accuracy. In-orbit inter-satellite radiometric calibration techniques could provide a long-term, group-wise solution. This paper presents our current research, which analyzes two methods to perform this calibration based upon coincident brightness measurements. In the first approach we build a transfer relationship based on three adjacent frequency measurements and major environmental parameters using radiative transfer model normalization. In the second approach, a linear regression is used among all frequency and both polarization measurements and their transforms. We utilize Radiative transfer models (RTM's) in both methods, and refine them under different environmental conditions and later, we test the RTM models in order to better simulate brightness temperature retrieval before use in building transfer relationships. We validate the two different approaches by comparing external measurements between AMSR on ADEOS-II and TMI on TRMM. Results of calibration comparisons are provided along with accuracy prediction and error source analysis. By pursuing this research, the feasibility of building calibrations between polar-orbit satellites can be established for improved operational and scientific utilization of microwave radiometer measurements.
