In this paper a three dimensional (3D) image processing expert system called 3D-IMPRESS is presented. This system can automatically construct a 3D image processing procedure by using pairs of an original input image and a desired output figure called sample figure given by a user This paper describes the outline of 3D-IMPRESS and presents a method of procedure consolidation for generating a procedure commonly applicable to some other 3D gray images. Finally, we show segmentation results of 3D chest CT images by using the procedures generated by 3D-IMPRESS and discuss the performance of the system.

Summary form only given. High repetition rate pulse bursts have been demonstrated from a specially designed AWG and a single short pulse source laser. The key requirement is that the free spectral range (FSR) of the device must be tailored so that multiple filter passbands fit within the input laser bandwidth. The unique properties of this device allow generation of identical, wavelength shifted, very high rate pulse trains for hybrid TDM/WDM communications and photonic signal processing. Initial work has been performed on tailoring the output temporal profile to generate a flat-topped pulse train burst. When applied to a high-repetition rate mode-locked source (> 10 GHz), these -devices could lead to continuous very-high repetition rate output trains (>500 GHz).

As the system size of Beowulf-Class cluster system scales up, system administration becomes challenging due to the increased complexity of the system. The lack of powerful tools for the administrative tasks even makes the matter worse. This paper presents a proposed framework for system management of large Beowulf cluster that divided the management task into well defined layers of service. A cluster management tool called SCMS (SMILE Cluster Management system) has been developed according to this framework. SCMS provides a rich set of services and tools for large cluster administration. The current implementation of SCMS is discussed referenced to the proposed framework. The software is now freely available on the Internet.

The proposed design overcomes the problem of the glitch at the output and improves power-delay product for about 27%, while preserving logic embedding property. This is accomplished by equalizing the t/sub pLH/ and t/sub pHL/ of the flip-flop and careful design of keeper elements in the circuit. New design introduces insignificant area increase.

An improved design of a hybrid latch flip-flop is presented. The proposed design overcomes the problem of the glitch at the output and reduces the power consumption and delay of the circuit resulting in a total power-delay-product improvement of about 20%. It also exhibits better soft-clock edge properties compared to the original circuit. This is accomplished by careful design of keeper elements and introducing the feedback path to suppress unnecessary transitions in the circuit. The new design introduces an insignificant area increase.

Technology advances and application development in the area of multimedia information systems have been rapidly increasing in recent years. An important issue to be considered in the design of a multimedia information system is the content-based retrieval of multimedia data, which helps users to retrieve the desired information based on the contents of multimedia data. In such systems, multimedia data are analyzed so that the descriptions of their content, i.e., metadata, can be extracted and stored in the multimedia database together with the original raw data. The multi-mode indexing scheme combines and extends the HG-tree, the signature file, and the hashing technique to support a wide range of user queries in a multimedia information system. We describe a new Visual Retrieval system Engine (VRSE) that goes with a visual database running with multimedia collaborative framework.
