In this paper, a method of high order IIR filter design is proposed in which the coefficients in the canonical binary number system representation are searched by the simulated annealing algorithm. The high-quality IIR filters are designed using the all-pass filter stages, methods of masking filters and multiplied delays. It was proven, that if the coefficients of the multiplierless filter have no more than three summands in their representation, then its pipelined implementation in FPGA has the highest clock frequency. The use of the VHDL language in all the steps of the filter design helps to speed-up and improve the filter optimization. © 2020 IEEE.

Blood is vital for transporting oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to all body parts as it circulates through arteries and veins. It removes carbon dioxide, regulates body temperature, and maintains the body's immune system. Individuals constantly need blood and its derivatives to save their lives and improve their health through medical treatments and surgical operations. Liver diseases are one of the diseases that affects the health of individuals and requires blood to continue living. These diseases cause significant damage to people's health, and early diagnosis plays a crucial role in saving lives. In this paper, machine learning algorithms (support vector machine and random forest) are involved in detecting liver diseases and determining whether donors are suitable to donate blood from blood values. This paper is applied research that found that the performance measures of the random forest algorithm achieved excellent performance in identifying suitable people to donate blood.

With the increasing number of IoT devices, there is a growing need for bandwidth to support their communication. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of available bandwidth due to preallocated bands for various services. To address this issue, Cognitive Internet of Things (CR-IoT) enables devices to optimize their efficiency and enhance their communication capabilities by intelligently accessing available bandwidth. This is achieved through the use of soft sensing metrics, where devices continuously monitor the RF environment and transmit data opportunistically in overlay mode if a free channel is detected, or in underlay mode if not. In this paper, a soft sensing metric based hybrid transmission framework is proposed for CR-IoT devices to meet the data rate requirement for the smart city applications. The efficacy of this approach is demonstrated through simulation results.

The covid-19 pandemic and Economic Policy Uncertainty resulting from the shutdown of production, withdrawal of investments, enforcement of lockdowns and quarantines globally, have been directly affecting stock markets worldwide. This study is thus an attempt to analyse the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on stock market behaviour in major affected economies. Moreover, the time frame was extended by using current data which investigate the impact of the virus during the boom and the blast phase in the country's most hit by the pandemic crisis such as China, Italy, UK and US. The frequency of the data is daily, and it dates from 3 January 2020 up to 10 February 2021. The considered time framework will give a deep insight into how stock markets behave in the case of an exogenous shock. The Dickey-Fuller Augmented Unit Root Test indicates that all the variables are stationary at first difference, which is one of the main conditions to have robust result, and the ARCH-LM test for the heteroskedasticity of the residuals, which show that all the probability values are significant, rejecting the null hypothesis of no ARCH effect. Based on the results of GARCH (1,1), we conclude that the change in stock markets volatility is positive and significant in China, Italy, UK and USA. This suggests that the impacts of COVID-19 outbreak and economic policy uncertainty on Stock Markets are a significant and Homogeneous across the studied countries, and the shock on FTSE Italia All Share has the longest time to vanish which makes it the riskiest to invest during this period, while the shock on SP500 USA has the shortest time to disappear meaning that it is safest Stock Market in this study. These findings have significant implications for policymakers, institutional and individual investors and Financial Markets analysts. © 2022 IET Conference Proceedings. All rights reserved.

Artificial intelligence (AI) systems in medicine are one of the most important modern trends in global healthcare. Artificial intelligence technologies are fundamentally changing the global healthcare system, making it possible to radically rebuild the system of medical diagnostics while reducing healthcare costs. AI is actively used in research to develop methods for diagnosing coronary heart disease (CHD). There are different types of CHD. Before treating a disease, it is necessary to determine which class of diseases it belongs to. Based on the feature space of the disease, it is possible to classify the type of CHD. Machine learning algorithms can solve this problem. The k-nearest neighbors (KNN) algorithm is a simple, easy-to-implement supervised machine learning algorithm that can be used to solve classification problems. The dataset is the more important part of the supervised machine learning algorithm for training. Gathering data is the most important step in solving any supervised machine learning problem. But choosing more important part from the collected data is one of the tasks to be solved. The main purpose of this study is to select more useful parametric attributes from the dataset to obtain a high F1-score of CHD classification.

Visually impaired people encounter several challenges in their mobility and navigation. Their daily activities are obstructed due to their inability to adapt or recognize accurately their surroundings, especially outside their house which they are more familiar with. Thus, it becomes the main reason of accidents, falling off, getting lost in unknown areas, etc. Furthermore, one of the sensory systems that helps the body to process data about the external environment is the visual system. Blind people also lose touch with the outside world, develops poor motor habits, which results in postural problems as a result. This project will assist visually impaired people in their daily life and simplify normal tasks through a system combining two previously designed projects, “Smart Shoes for Blind and Visually Impaired People”, and “Human posture monitoring device”. The multifunctional system is developed with the goal of securing safe movements for visually impaired people as well as maintaining a good back posture by detecting leaning postures (LP). The purpose of the smart shoe is to identify obstacles and protect the user from unintended accidents. A compatible Android application has been developed to alert the user when there is an obstruction or when he is walking on a wet surface. Voice alarms will be used to acoustically alert the user. If the user collapses, a message with their position will be sent right away to a relative. On the other hand, the smart vest will identify the position of the user's back and alert him to maintain a straight posture through the same application as well. As the system is dealing with human health, some safety measurements would be taken into consideration to implement a safe electrical system in order to reduce error and to increase accuracy.

An article presents an approach for cyberattack detection based on genetic algorithms is presented. The method allows detecting both known and unknown cyberattacks. The method has the heuristic nature and is based on the collected data about the cyberattacks. It makes it possible to give an answer about the cyberattacks' existence in the computer networks and its hosts. Developed attack detection approach consists of training and detection stages. The mechanism of attack detection system is based on the cyberattacks' features gathering from network or hosts, extracting the subset of acquired set and generation the attacks' detection rules. Genetic algorithms are used for the minimization of the feature set, which allows effective using of the system resources for attacks detection. In order to detect the attacks, the proposed technique involves the rule generation. The attacks' features are described by the set of sub-rules. It is suggested to use the feature with the smallest domain for generating the minimal set for rules. It is possible to select the optimal feature after all selected features which were discovered while applying the genetic algorithm. The sub-rule set is used with the aim to reduce false positive rate.

This research focuses on hyperparameter optimization for LSTM to forecast SARS-CoV-2 infection cases in the Russian Federation, aiming to determine the best combination of parameters for a well-fitting model. Using LSTM’s capability to analyze relationships within time series data, a bidirectional LSTM-based method is introduced for predicting daily infection cases. The study evaluates nearly 10 unique forecasting models and conducts a comprehensive analysis and comparison of their results. The Bidirectional LSTM model proves to be a reliable approach for forecasting daily SARS-CoV-2 infection cases in Russia, displaying the highest prediction accuracy among the tested models.

time series Due to better algorithms, more accessible data, and higher computing power over the past ten years, forecasting has become more popular. It is used in a variety of industries, including as financial time series, weather forecasting, and medical diagnostics. In this study, we provide a model of the mechanism governing attention, which enables attended input to be provided to the model in place of actual input. In order for the model to produce more precise predictions, it seeks to demonstrate a fresh perspective on the data. The experiments were conducted with the (encoder-decoder) LSTM model as well to demonstrate the usefulness and superiority of the suggested strategy. The obtained results demonstrate that, when compared to the (encoder-decoder) LSTM base model, the proposed approach could reduce the mean square error (RMSE=9819.05), relative root mean square error (RRMSE=99.09), and coefficient of determination (R Square=0.96). The obtained results support the suggested approach’s efficacy, superiority, and importance in predicting SARS-CoV-2 infection cases.
