Code snippet adaptation is a fundamental activity in the software development process. Unlike code generation, code snippet adaptation is not a “free creation”, which requires developers to tailor a given code snippet in order to fit specific requirements and the code context. Recently, large language models (LLMs) have confirmed their effectiveness in the code generation task with promising results. However, their performance on code snippet adaptation, a reuse-oriented and context-dependent code change prediction task, is still unclear. To bridge this gap, we conduct an empirical study to investigate the performance and issues of LLMs on the adaptation task. We first evaluate the adaptation performances of three popular LLMs and compare them to the code generation task. Our result indicates that their adaptation ability is weaker than generation, with a nearly 15% decrease on pass@1 and more context-related errors. By manually inspecting 200 cases, we further investigate the causes of LLMs' sub-optimal performance, which can be classified into three categories, i.e., Unclear Requirement, Requirement Misalignment and Context Misapplication. Based on the above empirical research, we propose an interactive prompting approach to eliciting LLMs' ability on the adaptation task. Specifically, we enhance the prompt by enriching the context and decomposing the task, which alleviates context misapplication and improves requirement understanding. Besides, we enable LLMs' reflection by requiring them to interact with a human or a LLM counselor, compensating for unclear requirement. Our experimental result reveals that our approach greatly improve LLMs' adaptation performance. The best-performing Human-LLM interaction successfully solves 159 out of the 202 identified defects and improves the pass@1 and pass@5 by over 40% compared to the initial instruction-based prompt. Optical-resolution photoacoustic microcopy (OR-PAM) is a non-invasive imaging technology that can achieve high-resolution vascular imaging and has been widely used in the field of vessel segmentation. Due to the low contrast of photoacoustic microvessel images and the discontinuity of vessels, existing vessel segmentation methods have some shortcomings: the accuracy of capillary extraction is insufficient, it is difficult to extract thick and thin vessels at the same time, and the vessels have deformed in some segmentation results. Therefore, we propose a deep learning network (RA-MP-Net) that integrates the residual attention(RA) module and the multi-scale perception (MP) module. Among them, RA module can focus on the vascular region in the image, and MP module can aggregate multi-scale vessel features. We conduct experiments on the normal vessel dataset from OR-PAM. Compared with existing work, the proposed microvascular segmentation algorithm can extract thick and thin vessels more accurately and continuously. In quantitative analysis, compared with the previously proposed 2D deep learning method, our evaluation indicators improved by 2.4%∼10.6%. The improvement in the accuracy of extracting vessels using our method is helpful for the diagnosis and evaluation of microvascular diseases. © 2024 ACM.

A neural network approach is presented to solve the delay constraint and loss data multicast routing problem, an NP-complete problem. The multicast tree is obtained in line with optimal (minimum) routing costs which are subjected to integrated delay and loss data constraints. The proposed routing algorithm is designed to find the optimal (shortest) path taking into account traffic conditions (the incoming traffic flow, routers occupancy, and link capacities), avoiding packet loss data to the input buffer overflow and combine them into the union. The experimental results showed that the proposed method using the discrete-Time equation has achieved a significant difference in iterations and execution time compared to other proposals such as Runge-Kutta, Euler equations, ant colony algorithm and Hierarchical Hopfield neural network which contributes to improving the performance of Internet of Things networks in terms of the durability of interconnection between devices. In accordance with the extent of the impact of quality of service restrictions on the network, and the maintenance of the cost-effectiveness of the route, the algorithm achieved a decrease in execution time ranging from 27% to 81%, in addition to a decrease in the number of iterations by 44% to 66%. © 2022 ACM.

During reactor power monitoring, compensated ion-chambers (CICs) are assembled by two similar gas-filled detectors. The gamma compensation of CICs is essential for detecting precision of thermal neutrons, and requires a pairs of fully matched voltages. Descriptions of detecting precision include current formation model, in which applied voltages and radiation strength act in the process of collecting charged particles. However, the model of CICs are seldom applied in design work to evaluate the monitoring precision. Here we show that imbalance degree of collecting charged particles leads to mismatch of saturation currents depending on difference of recombination and diffusion in each sub-chambers. We analyzed a coaxial type compensated ion-chamber (DL-126), and found that applied voltages and radiation strength have significant impact for ion recombination and electron diffusion. For increasing precision of CICs, this result suggests a dynamic way to evaluate the output deviation using radiation strength. Furthermore, we found the compensation factor of two sub-chambers is only related to the applied voltages and remain unchanged in various radiation. Our results demonstrate how collecting regulars of charged particles are likely to function in setting applied voltages, calculating the charge loss as well as quantifying the saturation currents. We anticipate our analysis to be a starting point for revising detection precision of compensated ion-chambers. For example, evaluating the neutron fluence in the reactor shutdown and restart process, including monitoring task after accident. Furthermore, dynamic precision evaluation of these detectors is a major target of prognostics and health management for Nuclear Instrument. Copyright © 2022 by ASME.

Federated Learning (FL) is a distributed machine learning paradigm designed to address data silos and protect data privacy. However, in medical scenarios, the heterogeneity in data quality and the non-independent and identically distributed (Non-IID) nature of medical data from different hospitals can lead to degraded model performance in FL. To tackle this challenge, this paper proposes an adaptive federated learning framework based on reputation. By using a reputation evaluation model, the framework adaptively adjusts the aggregation weights of the models to enhance the performance of the global model. Additionally, our reputation evaluation model, integrated with blockchain technology, can rapidly identify malicious clients and effectively prevent poisoning attacks. Experimental results on two medical datasets demonstrate that this framework achieves higher model accuracy and faster convergence. © 2024 IEEE.

The Petri-net-based information flow analysis offers an effective approach for detecting information leakage by the concept of non-interference. Although the related studies propose efficient solutions, they lack quantitative evaluation on information leakage. In this paper, we propose a novel method for quantitative evaluation of information security based on stochastic labeled Petri nets (SLPNs) and information flow analysis. Specifically, we introduce four different levels of security metrics, and provide a methodology for evaluating the information security. Furthermore, a case study is presented to show the feasibility of our method. © 2024 IEEE.

As blockchain technology becomes widely applied, handling high volumes of transactions has become a critical challenge. Sharding has emerged as an effective solution to enhance the throughput of blockchain systems. Yet, this approach introduces challenges related to the frequency of cross-shard transactions and workload balancing. High rates of cross-shard transactions can slow overall processing speed and reduce throughput, while uneven load distribution can overburden some shards and underutilize others, impacting overall efficiency. To address these issues, this paper proposes a sharding method named LCLB. This method employs the concept of label propagation to pre-shard accounts with frequent transactions into a designated shard, ensuring a lower ratio of cross-shard transactions. It also uses an elastic load balancing algorithm to dynamically adjust the distribution of accounts, ensuring a relatively balanced processing load across all shards. Our results indicate that LCLB significantly enhances blockchain sharding performance,not only enhancing transaction throughput but also significantly reducing transaction confirmation latency, while ensuring a balanced load across various shards. © 2024 IEEE.

The rapid growth of healthcare data transactions has fostered win-win developments in healthcare technology innovation and economic benefits. However, the issue of secondary transactions makes data ownership vulnerable to infringement due to the easily replicable nature of the data. As the importance of ownership and privacy increases, more and more users protect the privacy of data through encryption methods, making it impossible for existing methods to make infringement judgments on ciphertext data. To solve this problem, we propose an infringement detection and traceability scheme based on feature extraction of ciphertext data. Firstly, the characteristics of fully homomorphic encryption are utilized to obtain data features in the ciphertext state, and the plaintext state of these features is used as the basis for infringement judgment. Additionally, during the data transaction process, the ownership registration of the sales data is verified through smart contracts to ensure the effective association between the transaction data and the seller's address. The experimental results show that the scheme can accurately determine infringement while protecting data security and privacy. © 2024 IEEE.

This work presents an adaptive tracking guidance method for robotic fishes. The scheme enables robots to suppress external interference and eliminate motion jitter. An adaptive integral surge line-of-sight guidance rule is designed to eliminate dynamics interference and sideslip issues. Limited-time yaw and surge speed observers are reported to fit disturbance variables in the model. The approximation values can compensate for the system's control input and improve the robots' tracking ***, this work develops a terminal sliding mode controller and third-order differential processor to determine the rotational torque and reduce the robots' run jitter. Then, Lyapunov's theory proves the uniform ultimate boundedness of the proposed method. Simulation and physical experiments confirm that the technology improves the tracking error convergence speed and stability of robotic fishes.
