As an extended computing paradigm of cloud computing, Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) facilitates real-time service responses by deploying resources near network edges. However, services should frequently move among multiple edge computing servers because of the mobility of most users, which accordingly leads to increased network operation costs and influences service quality. In this paper, we formulate the service migration problem as a Markov Decision Process (MDP) and introduce the dueling Deep Q-Network (DQN) to solve the problem, so as to reduce the network operating cost without lowering the service quality. We also propose a trajectory prediction approach to further optimize the service migration. Simulation experimental results demonstrate that the proposed mechanism can achieve a lower network operation cost without reducing the service quality. © 2023 IEEE.

PPDO:a privacy-preservation-aware delay optimization task-offloading algorithm for collaborative edge computing

Although collaborative edge computing(CEC)systems are beneficial in enhancing the performance of mobile edge computing(MEC),the issue of user privacy leakage becomes prominent during task *** address this issue,we design a privacy-preservation-aware delay optimization task-offloading algorithm(PPDO)in a CEC *** considering location and usage pattern privacy protection,we establish a privacy task model to interfere with the edge server and ensure user *** address the extra delay arising from privacy protection,we subsequently leverage a Markov decision processing(MDP)policy-iteration-based algorithm to minimize delays without compromising *** simultaneously accelerate the MDP operation,we develop an extension that improves the PPDO by optimizing the action ***,a comprehensive simulation was conducted using the edge user allocation(EUA)*** results demonstrated that PPDO achieves an optimal trade-off between privacy protection and delay with a minimum delay compared with existing ***,we examined the advantages and disadvantages of improving PPDO.

Discovering Cohesive Temporal Subgraphs with Temporal Density Aware Exploration

Unsupervised image-to-image translation is a challenging task for computer vision. The goal of image translation is to learn a mapping between two domains, without corresponding image pairs. Many previous works only focused on image-level translation but ignored image features processing, which led to a certain semantics loss, such as the changes of the background of the generated image, partial transformation, and so on. In this work, we propose a method of image-to-image translation based on generative adversarial nets(GANs). We use autoencoder structure to extract image features in the generator and add semantic consistency loss on extracted features to maintain the semantic consistency of the generated image. Self-attention mechanism at the end of generator is used to obtain long-distance dependency in image. At the same time, as expanding the convolution receptive field, the quality of the generated image is enhanced. Quantitative experiment shows that our method significantly outperforms previous works. Especially on images with obvious foreground, our model shows an impressive improvement.

This paper describes a multi target drug design method based on features of the target proteins. The multi target drug which inhibit multiple proteins have prospective applications, but design is difficult. In this study, the target protein sequences are embedded to obtain target features. The features of each target are independently encoded as target latent vectors, and the features of multiple targets are jointly encoded as target similarity latent vectors. Based on the features of targets and the similarity features among the targets, multi target drugs are efficiently designed. In the experiments, the designed multi target drugs can be docked with target proteins with a proprietary molecular structure according to the requirements of different target pocket structures. The excellent fitness among the molecular structure of multi target drugs and the protein structure of multiple targets confirms the performance of the proposed method. In the molecular docking part of the experi¬ments, the binding affinity of designed multi target drugs is far better than that in the previous studies, which administrates the better performance of this work. © 2024 IEEE.

Flexible, Super-stable, and Multifunctional Capacitive Pressure Sensors with Tilted Micropillar Array by Inclined Laser Ablation and Demolding

Flexible capacitive pressure sensors have garnered considerable interest across diverse applications, including medical monitoring, electronic skin, and robotic tactile systems, owing to their straightforward fabrication process, low energy consumption, and robust stability. In this paper, we introduce a new inclined laser ablation (ILA) combined with demolding technique for the fabrication of flexible capacitive sensors featuring a microstructured dielectric layer composed of a tilted micropillar array (TMA). The design parameters of TMA were systematically optimized, including the tilt angle of the micropillars, array gap, aspect ratio, and bottom film thickness. The resulting capacitive pressure sensor, equipped with 75° tilted micropillar arrays (aspect ratio of 5:1), demonstrates exceptional sensitivity (1.12 kPa-1) within the low-pressure range (0-2 kPa), rapid response and recovery times, a low pressure detection limit of 0.25 Pa, and transient response stability factor as high as 243.9. The proposed capacitive pressure sensor was validated for the detection and recognition of human motions when attached to various body parts. Additionally, the sensors also demonstrated significant potential for diverse applications, including tactile sensing, and Morse code communication. © 2025 IEEE.

Person re-identification (ReID) is a significant issue in computer vision, aiming to match the same pedestrian across various cameras. Recent research on this issue has successfully reached a satisfactory performance level in the daytime scenario. However, the performance of ReID in low illumination scenarios suffers a dramatic degradation due to the insufficient personal information captured by visible cameras in low or no light scenarios. To address this challenge, the adoption of novel camera technologies for more effective pedestrian data is imperative. Owing to the constraints of distance and usage scenarios in deploying depth cameras, practical infrared cameras are frequently utilized, spurring research in visible infrared person re-identification (VI-ReID). Significant progress has been made in the field of VI-ReID in recent years, but only a few reviews have categorized this problem based on methodology. This article offers a novel perspective by classifying VI-ReID according to application scenarios. Following our categorization scheme, the main advancements in deep learning for VI-ReID over the past five years have been grouped into three categories as follows: retrieval of infrared images using visible images (V→IR), retrieval of visible images using infrared images (IR→V), and joint retrieval of infrared and visible images (V→IR and IR→V). Next, this survey outlines the available datasets and evaluation metrics. After that, we categorize diverse methodologies under the proposed classification and assess their performance metrics across common datasets. Finally, we present two prospective avenues for future research in this domain, informed by the current state of advancement. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Persistent Memory (PM) offers both byte-address ability and non-volatility, making it well-suited for accelerating B+-Tree indexes. However, existing persistent B+-Tree indexes face significant performance challenges due to high structural modification operation (SMO) overhead. SMOs often result in costly item migrations and increased tail latency, which severely degrade the overall performance. In this paper, we present SSTree, a high-performance B+- Tree index specifically optimized to address SMO overhead. SSTree introduces three key innovations: (i) efficient leaf node expansion using a list of subnodes to postpone expensive node splits, (ii) delegated fingerprints to speed up search operations across subnodes, and (iii) proactive subnode compaction that employs out-of-place updates to optimize item organization. Our evaluation demonstrates that SSTree delivers up to 4.38× higher write throughput and up to 62× lower tail latency compared to state-of-the-art persistent B+-Tree indexes. © 2024 IEEE.
