This paper aims to determine the better technique for kidney stone detection between K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). As well known, the presence of kidney stones is an important topic that deserves discussion regarding expected medical outcomes. Most of the detection measures comprise CT scans, ultrasounds, and abdominal X-rays. These measures have varying effectiveness levels, hence used in the detection to prepare patients for specific treatment options. Patients' treatment options comprise percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL), and ureteroscopy. The different detection techniques carried out for the patients are essential to test whether the patient has small or large kidney stones. One essential technique is using conventional neural networks (CNNs) technology. In this paper kidney, stone detection will be carried out using both of K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) and CNN's techniques. A comparison between both techniques will be carried out to figure out the better. All of the simulations are carried out using MATLAB. © 2023 IEEE.

Water loss and improper scheduling are problems with traditional irrigation techniques, making it difficult to meet the growing demand for food production while also preserving precious water resources. To address these challenges, this paper introduces a cutting-edge smart irrigation system that leverages the power of the Internet of Things (IoT), data analysis, and machine learning to determine the most efficient way to apply and schedule water for irrigation. The cornerstone of this innovative system is the utilization of a carefully curated dataset, "Crop Irrigation Scheduling,"sourced from Kaggle. This dataset comprises six crucial attributes: Crop Type, Crop Days, Soil Moisture, Temperature, Humidity, and Irrigation. These attributes, described in detail in the dataset's metadata, provide the foundational information required for precise irrigation management. The system operates seamlessly by deploying IoT sensors to collect real-time data from the field. This data is then preprocessed to ensure its quality and consistency. Subsequently, a machine learning model is trained using this dataset to make intelligent irrigation decisions in real time. The model's predictions are seamlessly integrated with control mechanisms that govern the irrigation process. Moreover, the system offers an intuitive API for easy data access and management, allowing agricultural professionals to monitor and adjust irrigation strategies effortlessly. Experimental findings validate the system's utility, with particular emphasis on the decision tree model, which demonstrates the best balance of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. This system maximizes crop yield and minimizes water waste, contributing to a more sustainable and productive agricultural ecosystem. © 2023 IEEE.

The research on Variational Quantum Algorithms (VQAs) has gained significant momentum because of their promising practicality in the noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) era. Recent studies highlight the potential of VQAs in reinforcement learning (RL) by replacing classical components with parameterized quantum circuits (PQCs). Building on this, we propose a quantum Q-learning model for the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (CVRP), combining a PQC with an RL training process. We present a PQC for embedding both static and dynamic states in RL environments. The proposed PQC approximates the Q-value function by using the expectation values of different observables. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed PQC outperforms the existing PQC for the CVRP with fewer quantum resources. Furthermore, our method shows competitive performance compared to the classical counterpart. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates use meta-heuristic to solve curve fitting problems in Optical-Diffraction Based Image Depth Reconstruction. We aim to accurately establish a relationship curve between object distance and diffraction blur kernel through discrete data points. A mathematical model is first developed to formulate the concerned problems. Then, four meta-heuristic algorithms, particle swarm optimization, artificial bee colony, genetic algorithm and differential evolution, are employed and improved according to the problem's feature. Finally, experiments are executed on a data set. A comparison of the similarity of the least squares method verifies the feasibility of meta-heuristics for solving curve fitting problems. Among the four meta-heuristics, differential evolution algorithm has the best competitiveness. © 2023 IEEE.

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are characterized by some important attributes, including infrastructure, mobile, and dynamic nature, which makes them have vast applications in different areas of computer networks. The black hole attack falls among the strongly criticized security threats within the framework of the MANETs. This deceptive behavior captures data packets from a source destined for the malicious node and then declines them when they are received. This paper comprehensively reviews prior studies done to analyze and mitigate black hole attacks in MANETs. Besides this, we will conduct a comparative analysis of the research above projects. The present paper extends prior work by actually performing the black hole assault simulations in a MANETs environment. This is done with the aid of the NS2 simulator and the Ad Hoc On-Demands Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol. In this study, the black hole attack is analyzed and the consequences of the attack are assessed in terms of the system performance and security. We analyze crucial parameters like end-to-end latency, PDR, packet drop, and throughput to evaluate the consequences of this assault. From our results derived from the analysis of our simulations, we aim to present substantial points to do with the impacts of blackhole attacks on MANETs. In this way, our goal is to participate in the perpetually evolving efforts aimed at enhancing the security and reliability of such dynamic networks. © 2024 IEEE.

correct understanding of the Holy Quran is an essential duty for all Muslims. Tajweed rules guide the reciter to perform Holy Quran reading exactly as it was uttered by Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. This work focused on the recognition of one Quranic recitation rule. Qalqalah rule is applied to five letters of the Arabic Alphabet (Baa/Daal/Jeem/Qaaf/Taa) having sukun vowelization. The proposed system used the Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) as the feature extraction technique, and the Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) model was used for recognition. The available dataset consists of 3322 audio samples from different surahs of the Quran for four professional readers (Sheihk) AlHussary, AlMinshawy, Abdel Baset, and Ayman Swayed. The best results were gained using Ayman Swayed audio samples with a validation accuracy of 90.8%. © 2023 IEEE.

Goal models proved their importance in several disciplines and fields of application. However, most goal modeling support tools are mainly biased toward requirements engineering. This paper presents a new conceptual tool "iTactic." iTactic supports decision-making and tactics based on goal modeling. The tool defines a strategy in terms of a goal model using i* terminology. The employed evaluation method is based on the analogy to system models of control systems, accounting for input and output values at each point in time. iTactic goes beyond goal model evaluation and provides room for costs in its data model, providing a basis for comparing the expected success from different strategy implementation alternatives to the cost of these alternatives. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors. This study deals with the coordination of surge protection devices (SPD) in photovoltaic systems (PV). A PV farm model was developed in MATLAB Simulink with all the main components, solar panels, converter, grounding system, power transformer, cables in the DC and AC branches with their capacitances, and surge protection device throughout the installation. It was found that when lightning strikes the grounding system or in the vicinity of the PV installation, the coordination among SPD types 1, 2, and 3 is lost. Miscoordination can cause damage to several elements of the PV system, mainly the inverters. Finally, solutions were proposed to avoid SPD miscoordination during lightning strikes. © 2024 IEEE.

While long-Term strategic investment modelling frameworks tailored to energy storage system-supported grid-connected microgrids are widely studied in the literature, the co-optimization of the integration of hybrid battery/super-capacitor systems is not well explored, particularly in terms of the impact analysis of the parametric uncertainties involved. In response, this paper introduces a novel stochastic energy storage sizing modelling framework for hybrid battery/super-capacitor systems. The proposed framework concurrently optimizes the operational scheduling and investment planning of the system, whilst employing the 'low-pass energy filter' concept to determine the optimal share of each energy storage medium in addressing the supply-demand mismatches within the system. Collectively, the quantification of various sources of uncertainty and the intelligent, optimization-based scheduling of storage devices allow for better nearing the global optimality. To show the effectiveness of the model, a case study is performed for a hypothetical microgrid system to be installed in a residential subdivision in Aotearoa-New Zealand. Importantly, the simulation results indicate a significant \sim\mathbf{36}\% underestimation of the total discounted cost of the system by business-As-usual deterministic frameworks compared to the worst-case probabilistic scenario obtained using the proposed probabilistic optimization method. © 2023 IEEE.
