In this work, methods for the endogenous heating of printed circuit boards (PCBs) by means of inductive losses in built-in susceptors are presented. Two basic types of inductive heating were studied, the heating in the transversal field and the heating in the longitudinal field. Elementary test stands were constructed and characterized for both field geometries. These setups were then used to analyze various susceptor materials like copper and aluminum for the transversal field heating and nickel and iron for the longitudinal field heating. To demonstrate the soldering processes by means of inductive heating, exemplary processes were conducted on both test stands by emulating a standard solder reflow profile. The limitations of using induction heating on printed circuit boards are illustrated by component lead frames, which also heat up in the inductive field and can hence be damaged. In short, this paper presents a selective heating method, based on induction heating, for printed circuit boards. Furthermore possible setups for implementing this heating method are described. © 2018 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. All Rights Reserved.

This paper presents a new asymmetrical single-phase multilevel inverter topology capable of producing nine-level output voltage with reduce device counts. In order to obtain the desired output voltage, dc sources are connected in all the combination of addition and subtraction through different switches. Proposed topology results in reduction of dc source, switch counts, losses, cost and size of the inverter. Comparison between the existing topologies shows that the proposed topology yields less component counts. Proposed topology is modeled and simulated using Matlab-Simulink software in order to verify the performance and feasibility of the circuit. A low frequency switching strategy is also proposed in this work. The results show that the proposed topology is capable to produce a nine-level output voltage with less number of component counts and acceptable harmonic distortion content. © 2017 IEEE.

Recent advances in the spintronic design and fabrication techniques have led to the development of spin torque diodes having a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (STD-PMA) in their free layer. Such STD-PMAs can act as energy harvesters of ambient microwave radiation [1], and when driven with a dc bias current, can operate as microwave generators [2]. The analytical formalism [3] has shown that STD-PMAs have a number of interesting properties. In particular: (i) in the presence of an external microwave current they can produce a rectified dc voltage that is linearly proportional to the external microwave frequency, and independent of the input power; (ii) the STD-PMA can perform a signal rectification without an independent power supply, drawing power entirely from the input signal; (iii) in contrast with the traditional spin torque diodes, the STD-PMA do not require an external bias magnetic field, and therefore can be easily integrated with CMOS and other microelectronic systems; (iv) the power threshold of operation of STD-PMA is rather low (several nanowatts), and thus, they can be used in applications where non-spintronic (e.g. Schottky-diode-based) devices fail; (v) above a particular threshold frequency, the STD-PMA does not produce a dc voltage, thus acting as a natural lowpass filter. Here, we propose a novel application for an STD-PMA: this device can perform passive demodulation for low-power frequency-modulated (FM) signals. To demonstrate this effect we performed a numerical simulation for an STD-PMA under the action of an external FM signal. The magnetization dynamics of the STD-PMA free layer, which performs the signal demodulation, was modeled using the Landau-Lifshift-Gilbert-Slonczewski equation in a macrospin approximation. We chose the following typical parameters of the system. We used a 1.65 nm-thick circular free layer having a radius of 50 nm, and made of Co 20 Fe 60 B 20 . Analyzing the streamflow-sediment links of three major river basins in India using multifractal theory

This study investigated the cross-correlation between daily streamflow and total suspended sediment (TSS) data of 65 gauging stations located in three major river basins in a multifractal perspective. The novel Multifractal Cross Correlation Analysis (MFCCA) method of cross correlation studies is used to analyze the streamflow-sediment links of Krishna, Godavari and Mahanadi basins. The results showed that for the records of a particular station, the joint persistence of streamflow and TSS is approximately the mean of the persistence of individual series. The streamflow displayed higher persistence than TSS in 60 % of the stations while in majority of stations of Godavari basin the trend was opposite. The annual cross correlation is higher than overall cross correlation in majority of stations but at these time scales strength of their association differs with river basin.

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main *** of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements,such as its low-energy threshold,high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors,and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator *** this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable,assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/*** ten years of data acquisition,approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are *** large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter,which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation *** m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith ***,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better,depending on the central value,and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND experiment.

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) is a chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease that leads to disabled children with deformed joints and chronic pains. Since, the use of the traditional scores that evaluate quality of life of JIA patients are time consuming and usually not either accurate nor easy to apply, there is a great need to generate a new, easy and effective way to evaluate the health status scores autonomously. In this study, an automated approach is proposed for modelling the relationship between health status of patients with JIA and a number of influencing factors using Neuro-fuzzy algorithms. The approach was applied on data collected from 128 patients with JIA. The proposed model was verified using statistical analysis. Further, results obtained from the Neuro-fuzzy system were found very promising. © 2017 IEEE.

The low resolution iris images in non-cooperative environment has resultant in failure to determine the eye center, limbic and pupillary boundary of the iris segmentation. Hence, a combination with periocular area is suggested to improve the accuracy of the recognition system. However, the existing periocular features extraction methods to extract the texture features can be easily affected by a background complication and depends on image size and orientation. Although some of the existing studies have combined the texture and colour features to increase the accuracy of periocular recognition, still, the method of colour feature extraction is limited to spatial information and quantization effects. This paper presents the analysis of texture and colour based features of periocular for low resolution colour iris images. Two datasets: UBIRIS.v2 and UBIPr are used and the proposed method provides robust discriminative structure features and sufficient spatial information which has increased the discriminating power.
