Robot Operating System (ROS) is a widely used software architecture for robotic systems, which provides hardware abstractions and common functions in robotics. Launch files, as one of the configuration files in the actual program development of ROS, provide a method to start multiple nodes and set global parameters on the local or multiple machines at the same time. For launch files with complex and complex content, we need to get the questions we encounter in writing and using launch files from the Q&A community. We crawled 854 Q&A posts about Launch files from SO and ROS Answers respectively, and conducted in-depth empirical research. Based on the content of the Q&A posts, we roughly divided them into five topics, including syntax specification, function implementation, running error, dependency related and environment configuration. We used topic modelling LDA to categorize Q&A posts by topics, and segmented them by combining the five topics already obtained. Through the results, we found that parameter configuration and syntax errors were the main problems, and then we made a rough analysis of the answer content of the post, and found that the quality of the ROS-related Q&A posts was not high. The above findings inspired us to develop a template tool to simplify the writing of Launch flies and use the node information in the Launch files to recommend ROS nodes to lay a good foundation. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors. technology has influenced the hospitality industry, and the Internet of Things (IoT) has become a focus for sustainability, revenue growth, and problem-solving. This systematic review examined the opportunities and challenges of implementing IoT technology for a sustainable hospitality. Through a thorough analysis of 28 studies, we found that IoT technology has great potential to address sustainability issues in the hospitality industry. However, there are still significant challenges that need to be addressed for the successful implementation of IoT technology in the hospitality industry. Overall, this study highlights the potential of IoT technology to revolutionize the hospitality industry and make it more sustainable. Further research is needed to address the challenges of IoT implementation in the hospitality industry and to evaluate the effectiveness of IoT technology in achieving sustainability goals. © 2023 IEEE.

Cold data contributes a large portion of the big data today and is usually stored in secondary storage. Various sketch data structures are implemented to represent the stored elements and provide constant-time membership queries. Considering the large volume and infrequent access of cold data, we envision three rationales of cold data representation: 1) parallelized insertion, 2) accurate representation, and 3) constant-time query/deletion. The existing sketches, however, fail to achieve these rationales simultaneously. To this end, we propose a novel sketch named Parallelized cuckoo Filter (PCF) in this paper. PCF divides the standard cuckoo filter into multiple homogenous segments. An additional hash function is introduced to assign an element to a segment. The element will be inserted into the selected segment. With such a design, element insertions in PCF can be naturally parallelized. Besides, as a variant of the cuckoo filter, PCF naturally realizes the accurate representation and constant-time query/deletion requirements. Comprehensive experiments further indicate that PCF achieves the three rationales simultaneously. © 2021 IEEE.

Differential signals are key in control engineering as they anticipate future behavior of process variables and therefore are critical in formulating control laws such as proportional-integral-derivative(PID).The practical challenge,however,is to extract such signals from noisy measurements and this difficulty is addressed first by *** in the form of linear and nonlinear tracking differentiator(TD).While improvements were made,TD did not completely resolve the conflict between the noise sensitivity and the accuracy and timeliness of the *** two approaches proposed in this paper start with the basic linear TD,but apply iterative learning mechanism to the historical data in a moving window(MW),to form two new iterative learning tracking differentiators(IL-TD):one is a parallel IL-TD using an iterative ladder network structure which is implementable in analog circuits;the other a serial IL-TD which is implementable digitally on any computer *** algorithms are validated in simulations which show that the proposed two IL-TDs have better tracking differentiation and de-noise performance compared to the existing linear TD.

Reducing latency in the Internet of Things (IoT) remains a critical concern. While cloud computing facilitates communication, it falls short of meeting real-time requirements reliably. Edge and fog computing have emerged as viable solutions by positioning computing nodes closer to end users, offering lower latency and increased processing power. An edge-fog framework comprises various components, including edge and fog nodes, whose strategic placement is crucial as it directly impacts latency and system cost. This paper presents an effective and tunable node placement strategy based on a genetic algorithm to address the optimization problem of deploying edge and fog nodes. The task assignment for this algorithm involves two key components: first, it identifies the nearest node to a given user; second, it assesses the node’s capacity to ensure it has sufficient frequency resources to handle the assigned tasks. The ultimate objective is to minimize latency and cost through optimal node placement. Simulation results demonstrate the proposed framework achieves up to 8.4% latency and 65.2% cost reduction.

Firmware serves as a foundational software layer in modern computers, initiating as the first code executed on platform hardware, similar in function to a minimal operating system. Defined as a software interface between an operating system and platform firmware, the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) standardizes system initialization and management. A prominent open-source implementation of UEFI, the EFI Development Kit II (EDK2), plays a crucial role in shaping firmware architecture. Despite its widespread adoption, the architecture faces challenges such as limited system resources at early stages and a lack of standard security features. Furthermore, the scarcity of open-source tools specifically designed for firmware analysis emphasizes the need for adaptable, innovative *** this paper, we explore the application of general code audit tools to firmware, with a particular focus on EDK2. Although these tools were not originally designed for firmware analysis, they have proven effective in identifying critical areas for enhancement in firmware security. Our findings, derived from deploying key audit tools on EDK2, categorize these tools based on their methodologies and illustrate their capability to uncover unique firmware attributes, significantly contributing to the understanding and improvement of firmware security.

The widespread use of image tables presents significant accessibility challenges for blind and low vision (BLV) people, limiting their access to critical data. Despite advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) for interpreting image tables, current solutions often fail to consider the specific needs of BLV users, leading to a poor user experience. To address these issues, we introduce TableNarrator, an innovative system designed to enhance the accessibility of image tables. Informed by accessibility standards and user feedback, TableNarrator leverages AI to generate alternative text tailored to the cognitive and reading preferences of BLV users. It streamlines access through a simple interaction mode and offers personalized options. Our evaluations, from both technical and user perspectives, demonstrate that TableNarrator not only provides accurate and comprehensive table information but also significantly enhances the user experience for BLV people. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). Building a Stereo and Wide-View Hybrid RGB/FIR Imaging System for Autonomous Vehicle

In this work, a novel paradigm is proposed to build a hybrid RGB/FIR camera, which outputs pixel-wisely aligned and temporally synchronized RGB and FIR frames simultaneously. Compared with the existing schemes, we innovate in several ways to make it compact, practical, and extendable for real-world applications. First, we propose a new structure layout design of the hybrid camera, and we also design a removable adjuster to detach the hybrid camera from the base platform. For RGB and FIR image registration, we have achieved a pixel-wise spatial registration of the FIR and RGB frames by a two-step alignment, where we propose a ghost-effect removal scheme to remove the ghost effect from the rolling-shutter-based FIR camera. Finally, multiple hybrid cameras are extended to a hybrid camera array, through which we can obtain wide-view spatially aligned FIR, RGB and disparity images simultaneously. The experimental results demonstrate the accuracy of the hybrid camera and the effectiveness of the designed stereo wide-view hybrid camera system. © 2001-2012 IEEE.
