Federated learning (FL) trains a shared global model by periodically aggregating gradients from local devices. Communication overhead becomes a principal bottleneck in FL since participating devices usually suffer from limited bandwidth and unreliable connections in uplink transmission. To address this problem, the gradient compression methods based on compressed sensing (CS) theory have been put forward recently. However, most existing CS-based works compress gradients independently, ignoring the gradient correlations between participants or adjacent communication rounds, which constrains the achievement of higher compression rates. In view of the above observation, we propose a novel gradient compression scheme named FedDCS, guided by distributed compressed sensing (DCS) theory. Following the design philosophy of separate encoding and joint decoding in DCS, FedDCS compresses gradients for participants in each round separately while reconstructing them at the central server jointly via fully exploiting correlated gradients from the previous round, which are known as side information (SI). Benefiting from this design, reconstruction performance is significantly improved with fewer decoding errors also iterations under the identical compression rate, and the total uploading bits to achieve model convergence are considerably reduced. Theoretical analysis and extensive experiments conducted on MNIST and Fashion-MNIST both verify the effectiveness of our approach. © 2023 IEEE.

Despite significant progress in NeRF-based talking head generation, problems like poor lip synchronization and inefficient resource usage remain. To solve these, we propose KAN-Face, a lightweight framework. In preprocessing, we introduce a Lip-Sync Enhancement Module that uses Wav2Lip to extract high-resolution audio features and map them to an explicit intermediate representation, ensuring precise lip movement alignment with the speaker's identity. These predicted lip-sync features are combined with fundamental audio-extracted lip features and injected into the rendering module to improve synchronization. For rendering, we introduce FastKAN to map spatial points to color values. As a variant of KAN, FastKAN's sensitivity to 3D scenes and efficient structure enable precise, fast color prediction. Our framework reduces resource consumption while enhancing lip-sync accuracy and facial reconstruction, making it ideal for talking head generation tasks in resource-limited settings. Equilibrium-Independent Control of Continuous-Time Nonlinear systems Via the LPV Framework

In this paper, we consider the analysis and control of continuous-time nonlinear systems to ensure universal shifted stability and performance, i.e., stability and performance w.r.t. each forced equilibrium point of the system. This "equilibrium-free"concept is especially beneficial for control problems that require the tracking of setpoints and rejection of persistent disturbances, such as input loads. In this paper, we show how the velocity form, i.e., the time-differentiated dynamics of the system, plays a crucial role in characterizing these properties and how the analysis of it can be solved by the application of Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) methods in a computationally efficient manner. Furthermore, by leveraging the properties of the velocity form and the LPV framework, a novel controller synthesis method is presented which ensures closed-loop universal shifted stability and performance. The proposed controller design is verified experimentally on a real system. Additionally, we compare the proposed method to a standard LPV control design, demonstrating the improved stability and performance guarantees of the new approach. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Compare to traditional Scene Completion (SC), Semantic Scene Completion (SSC) is a challenging task that aims to generate complete and semantically consistent 3D scene from partial and sparse input data, which is fundamental to fully understanding the scene and being able to interact with it. Consequently, the SSC task has received much attention in recent years. Most of the methods are voxel-based approaches, but they have high computational and memory requirements. A few works based on point cloud do not sufficiently exploit the correlation between semantic segmentation and geometric completion subtasks, while focusing too much on point cloud shape features and ignoring the rich texture information that RGB images can provide. In this paper, we present SSCCPC-Net (Semantic Scene Completion with CLIP on Point Cloud-Net), a novel network architecture for point cloud semantic scene completion using a combination of 2D and 3D features. Inspired by recent works of large pretrained vision-language models in semantic segmentation, we explore to accomplish SSC task with the help of Contrastive Language-Image Pre-Training (CLIP) model. Specifically, we use the CLIP features for guidance to fuse the 2D features extracted from the RGB image and the 3D features extracted from the point cloud. The fused features are then fed into our designed Semantic-Completion Decoder for per-point semantic prediction and semantic labeling-assisted point cloud completion. Finally, we obtain the complete semantically point cloud. Numerous experiments have demonstrated that our method has higher effectiveness and generalizability compared to state-of-the-art methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

The article discusses the issue of creating a dynamic system for managing and monitoring the quality of ore flow in mineral resource complexes using simulation modeling. The purpose of this study is to adapt the mathematical apparatus of Petri nets to such modeling. The article describes the choice and justification of the simulation modeling apparatus and provides a conceptual representation of the ore flow model in the form of an adaptation of a continuous Petri net. An architectural solution is proposed that covers a number of processes, such as geological exploration, mining, moving loads in the business processes of enterprises, but also to support the rock mass. The proposed architecture is being coordinated with information systems and software and hardware of mining enterprises, which makes it possible to identify data needs for the formation of technical specifications for the correction of business processes. The proposed control system will make it possible to implement simulation modeling both in model and real time for timely and adequate assessment of the progress of work being carried out and clarifying the reasons for the lag behind planned schedules using a Petri net. © 2024 IEEE.

We explore the use of a mobile furniture swarm that are intended to assist users with limited mobility in their daily indoor activities. We focus on the multi-robot coordination problem when a dense target pose configuration is required, such as in an apartment setting. In those cases, the convergence of one robot to the target can be significantly affected by neighboring robots with specific shapes. In this letter, we propose a solution, named Velocity Potential Field Modulation (VPFM), to deal with the dense coordination problem of a polytopic swarm in a decentralized manner. We adapt our method to assistive applications, such as room reconfigurations and facilitating indoor movement of wheelchair users. We evaluate the performance of our method in simulations and on real-world mobile furniture hardware, demonstrating its effectiveness and real-time performance. © 2016 IEEE.

Currently,data-driven models of solar activity forecast are investigated extensively by using machine *** model training,it is highly demanded to establish a large database which may contain observations coming from different instruments with different spatio-temporal *** this paper,we employ deep learning models for super-resolution(SR)of magnetogram of Michelson Doppler Imager(MDI)in order to achieve the same spatial resolution of Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager(HMI).First,a generative adversarial network(GAN)is designed to transfer characteristics of MDI onto downscaled HMI,getting low-resolution HMI magnetogram in the same domain as ***,with the paired low-resolution and high-resolution HMI magnetograms,another GAN is trained in a supervised learning way,which consists of two streams,one is for generating high-fidelity image content,the other is explicitly optimized for generating elaborate image ***,these two streams work together to guarantee both high-fidelity and photorealistic super-resolved *** results demonstrate that the proposed method can generate super-resolved magnetograms with perceptual-pleasant visual ***,the best PSNR,LPIPS,RMSE,comparable SSIM and CC are obtained by the proposed *** source code and data set can be accessed via https://***/filterbank/SPSR.

Deep Semantic and Attentive Network for Unsupervised Video Summarization

With the rapid growth of video data, video summarization is a promising approach to shorten a lengthy video into a compact version. Although supervised summarization approaches have achieved state-of-the-art performance, they require frame-level annotated labels. Such an annotation process is time-consuming and tedious. In this article, we propose a novel deep summarization framework named Deep Semantic and Attentive Network for Video Summarization (DSAVS) that can select the most semantically representative summary by minimizing the distance between video representation and text representation without any frame-level labels. Another challenge associated with video summarization tasks mainly originates from the difficulty of considering temporal information over a long time. Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) performs well for temporal dependencies modeling but does not work well with long video clips. Therefore, we introduce a self-attention mechanism into our summarization framework to capture the long-range temporal dependencies among the frames. Extensive experiments on two popular benchmark datasets, i.e., SumMe and TVSum, show that our proposed framework outperforms other state-of-the-art unsupervised approaches and even most supervised methods. © 2022 Association for Computing Machinery.

The lithium-ion battery is increasingly critical in the fields of electric vehicles and sustainable energy. Accurate prediction of the Remaining Useful Life (RUL) of lithium-ion batteries is essential to mitigate risks and minimize potential losses. This paper introduces a novel fusion algorithm, FPSOGWO, which combines Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) with an enhanced Circle chaos strategy and a random adaptive weighting strategy. The FPSOGWO algorithm, integrated with Support Vector Regression (FPSOGWO-SVR), was utilized to predict the RUL of health factors in lithium batteries. Compared to other optimization algorithms, FPSOGWO exhibits superior optimization speed and value, effectively overcoming issues of local optimality. Specifically, when benchmarked against the Whale Optimization Algorithm-SVR (WOA-SVR), the R-Square values of FPSOGWO-SVR showed improvements of 15.62%, 1.28%, 5.67%, and 10.65% across four different types of batteries. Experimental results demonstrate that FPSOGWO-SVR provides more accurate RUL predictions for lithium batteries, highlighting its potential for broader application in battery health management systems. © The Institution of Engineering & technology 2024.
