Context: Over the last decade, software researchers and engineers have developed a vast body of methodologies and technologies in requirements engineering for self-adaptive systems. Although existing studies have explored various aspects of this field, no systematic study has been performed on summarizing modeling methods and corresponding requirements activities. Objective: This study summarizes the state-of-the-art research trends, details the modeling methods and corresponding requirements activities, identifies relevant quality attributes and application domains and assesses the quality of each study. Method: We perform a systematic literature review underpinned by a rigorously established and reviewed protocol. To ensure the quality of the study, we choose 21 highly regarded publication venues and 8 popular digital libraries. In addition, we apply text mining to derive search strings and use Kappa coefficient to mitigate researchers' disagreements. Results: We selected 109 papers during the period of 2003-2013 and presented the research distributions over various kinds of factors. We extracted 29 modeling methods which are classified into 8 categories and identified 14 requirements activities which are classified into 4 requirements timelines. We captured 8 concerned software quality attributes based on the ISO 9126 standard and 12 application domains. Conclusion: The frequency of application of modeling methods varies greatly. Enterprise models were more widely used while behavior models were more rigorously evaluated. Requirements-driven runtime adaptation was the most frequently studied requirements activity. Activities at runtime were conveyed with more details. Finally, we draw other conclusions by discussing how well modeling dimensions were considered in these modeling methods and how well assurance dimensions were conveyed in requirements *** Codes 68N30 Copyright © 2017, The Authors. Local features are widely used in visual tracking to improve robustness in cases of partial occlusion, deformation and rotation. This paper proposes a local fragment-based object tracking algorithm. Unlike many existing fragment-based algorithms that allocate the weights to each fragment, this method firstly defines discrimination and uniqueness for local fragment, and builds an automatic pre-selection of useful fragments for tracking. Then, a Harris-SIFT filter is used to choose the current valid fragments, excluding occluded or highly deformed fragments. Based on those valid fragments, fragment-based color histogram provides a structured and effective description for the object. Finally, the object is tracked using a valid fragment template combining the displacement constraint and similarity of each valid fragment. The object template is updated by fusing feature similarity and valid fragments, which is scale-adaptive and robust to partial occlusion. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is accurate and robust in challenging scenarios. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016.

Cross-project defect prediction trains a prediction model using historical data from source projects and applies the model to target projects. Most previous efforts assumed the cross-project data have the same metrics set, which means the metrics used and the size of metrics set are the same. However, this assumption may not hold in practical scenarios. In addition, software defect datasets have the class-imbalance problem which increases the difficulty for the learner to predict defects. In this paper, we advance canonical correlation analysis by deriving a joint feature space for associating cross-project data. We also propose a novel support vector machine algorithm which incorporates the correlation transfer information into classifier design for cross-project prediction. Moreover, we take different misclassification costs into consideration to make the classification inclining to classify a module as a defective one, alleviating the impact of imbalanced data. The experimental results show that our method is more effective compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2016 World Scientific Publishing Company.

Bicycle sharing system has emerged as a new mode of transportation in many big cities over the past *** the large number of bicycle stations distribute widely in the city,it is difficult to identify their unique attributes and characteristics *** to the real bicycle hire dataset in Hangzhou,China,the clustering analysis for the bicycle stations based on the temporal flow data was carried out ***,based on the spatial distribution and temporal attributes of calculated clusters,visual diagram and map were used to vividly analyze the bicycle hire behavior related to station category and study the travel rules of *** experimental results demonstrate the relation between human mobility,the time of day,day of week and the station location.

Design of endurable networks in the presence of aging

Networks are designed to satisfy given objectives under specific requirements. While the static connectivity of networks is normally analyzed and corresponding design principles for static robustness are proposed, the challenge still remains of how to design endurable networks that maintain the required level of connectivity during its whole lifespan, against component aging. We introduce network endurance as a new concept to evaluate networks overall performance during its whole lifespan, considering both network connectivity and network duration. We develop a framework for designing an endurable network by allocating the expected lifetimes of its components, given a limited budget. Based on percolation theory and simulation, we find that the maximal network endurance can be achieved with a quantitative balance between network duration and connectivity. For different endurance requirements, we find that the optimal design can be separated into two categories: strong dependence of lifetime on node’s degree leads to larger network lifetime, while weak dependence generates stronger network connectivity. Our findings could help network design, by providing a quantitative prediction of network endurance based on network topology. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Public bicycle sharing services are becoming popular over the past decade. The behavior of using public bicycle system(PBS) produces numerous hire records involving citizens' movement. This paper presents a visual analytics system-Touching PBSData, to help both traffic administrators and ordinary citizens visually explore and understand PBS data on multi-touch devices. Tasks and design principles are put forward firstly. Four views are designed to show different aspects of the dataset, including the geographical distribution, the spatio-temporal pattern and personal relevant information. In order to enhance the flexibility and usability of system, the organization mode of views and rich user interaction suitable for multi-touch device are further studied. By adopting real PBS dataset, the results of case studies certify that our method is able to help analyzers to find stations' main function and citizens' travel habits. Moreover, the feedback from the participants with various backgrounds is very affirmative through the user study.

With an exploding growth of the mobile applications and emerging of cloud computing, mobile cloud computing (MCC) has become a potential technology for mobile services. MCC is the combination of cloud computing, mobile computing and wireless networks to bring rich computational resources to mobile users, network operators, as well as cloud computing providers. Despite increasing usage of mobile computing, exploiting its full potential is difficult due to its inherent problems such as resource scarcity, frequent disconnections and mobility. MCC can address these problems by executing mobile applications on the resource providers' side. In this paper, we give a definition of mobile cloud computing and provide an overview of state-of-the-art progress, in particular, models of mobile cloud applications. We also highlight research challenges in the area of mobile cloud computing. We conclude that mobile cloud computing can help building more powerful mobile applications. © 2016. The latest High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard offers higher performance than existing video coding standards - up to 50% bit-rate reduction at the equal perceptual quality, but with a significant encoder complexity increase. With regard to intra prediction, a set of 35 intra prediction modes is defined in HEVC to enhance the intra coding performance. However, the high complexity makes it difficult to be applied in real-time applications. To reduce the complexity of intra prediction while maintaining the coding performance, an adaptive fast mode decision algorithm for HEVC intra coding is proposed in this paper, which can efficiently reduce the number of the candidate modes for rate-distortion optimization (RDO) and thus the intra coding time. First, the relation observed between the costs of two candidate modes will be exploited to improve the efficiency of prediction. Second, both the texture consistency of neighborhood and the texture characteristic in current predict unit (PU) will also be considered. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm saves 30.12% intra encoding time on average without incurring noticeable performance degradation and outperforms the state-of-the-art fast intra mode decision algorithms by achieving a better RD performance with approximate encoding time saving.

Electrolyte gating is a powerful means for tuning the carrier density and exploring the resultant modulation of novel properties on solid surfaces. However, the mechanism, especially its effect on the oxygen migration and electrostatic charging at the oxide heterostructures, is still unclear. Here we explore the electrolyte gating on oxygen-deficient interfaces between SrTiO3 (STO) crystals and LaAlO3 (LAO) overlayer through the measurements of electrical transport, X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. We found that oxygen vacancies (Ovac) were filled selectively and irreversibly after gating due to oxygen electromigration at the amorphous LAO/STO interface, resulting in a reconstruction of its interfacial band structure. Because of the filling of Ovac, the amorphous interface also showed an enhanced electron mobility and quantum oscillation of the conductance. Further, the filling effect could be controlled by the degree of the crystallinity of the LAO overlayer by varying the growth temperatures. Our results reveal the different effects induced by electrolyte gating, providing further clues to understand the mechanism of electrolyte gating on buried interfaces and also opening a new avenue for constructing high-mobility oxide interfaces. Dynamic hybrid optical pumping effects with a radio-frequency-field-driven nonlinear magneto-optical rotation (RF NMOR) scheme are studied in a dual-species paraffin coated vapor cell. By pumping K atoms and probing 87Rb atoms, we achieve an intrinsic magnetic resonance linewidth of 3 Hz and the observed resonance is immune to power broadening and light-shift effects. Such operation scheme shows favorable prospects for atomic magnetometry applications. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. All rights reserved.
