Vehicle navigation systems rely on the correct positioning information and GPS is the best solution. However, in situations of GPS outage, like in tunnels and dense woods, the vehicle can lose track quickly. Modern vehicle navigation systems are mostly based on the vehicle dynamics;proprietary algorithms keep navigating for quite some time. But these solutions are expensive and add much to a vehicle's cost. This paper proposes a Kalman filter based dead-reckoning algorithm that fuses GPS information with the orientation information from a cheap IMU/INS, and the vehicle's speed accessed from its ECU. This low-cost system uses GPS and IMU/INS in a loosely coupled manner along with vehicle's speed and keeps supplying a quite accurate position information with GPS outage for significantly long intervals. With proper tuning and initialization, the proposed scheme has a potential to keep working in a completely GPS-denied situation.

Evolutionary algorithms used to solve complex optimization problems usually need to perform a large number of fitness function evaluations, which often requires huge computational overhead. This paper proposes a self-adaptive similarity-based surrogate model as a fitness inheritance strategy to reduce computationally expensive fitness evaluations. Gaussian similarity measurement, which considers the ruggedness of the landscape, is proposed to adaptively regulate the similarity in order to improve the accuracy of the inheritance fitness values. Empirical results on three traditional benchmark problems with 5, 10, 20, and 30 decision variables and on the CEC'13 test functions with 30 decision variables demonstrate the high efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in that it can obtain better or competitive solutions compared to the state-of-the-art algorithms under a limited computational budget.

One of the key subsystems from point of view of security of the complex IoT system is the smart business center (SB?) system. Some problems the design and operation of the SBC system are analyzed. When analysis of safety of the IoT system must take into account the reliability and security of the system at several levels: the level of sensors, the level of communication (communication lines, router, switch), the server level as the control device of components of the network, the level of the entire SBC subsystem. General architecture of network of the SB? is described. Reliability and security of key SB? hardwareand software manufacturers are analysed. In particular, security issue for SB? routers is considered. Shown the Markov model, which takes into account the technical conditions of typical network components of the SBC with the presence of software vulnerabilities when exposed to hacker attacks. On this model's basis it is possible to conduct further researches directed for improving the reliability operation and safety of IoT.

With the development of small unmanned aerial systems (SUAS), the flight safety issues in low altitude has become a research focus. Clearance survey is used for locating obstacles in the airspace to ensure flight safety. In this paper, we employ LiDAR to generate digital terrain model (DTM) for achieving clearance survey. In our method, filters are designed to eliminate the abnormal data points and grids are used for recognizing obstacles. According to the principle of flight risk minimization, a maximum elevation based method is proposed to produce the digital surface model (DSM) and realize the DTM extraction. Combining the derived DTM and DSM, the low altitude space are divided into zones to ensure the flight safety of SUAS. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method. By varying the window size of the filters for processing LiDAR datasets, further improvements can be achieved.

A polymer/multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) composite sensor array based on a flexible polyimide substrate equipped with a thermostatic microheater to provide different working temperatures was developed for gas sensing. The thermostatic microheater provided nine working temperatures ranging from 20°C to 60°C. Each microheater element included a 3 × 3 polymer/MWCNT composite sensor array, which is composed of MWCNTs and polymer composite, as a sensing material. The device was developed to investigate the effect of device temperature on the response of polymer/MWCNT composite gas sensor arrays. The response to ethanol at different temperatures showed resistance variation but similar performance for the proposed gas sensor array.

Analysis of NMR spectra is a multi-stage computational process performed with the use of appropriately chosen sequence of algorithms. Initial stages of this process, called pre-processing, including filtering, baseline correction, phase correction and removal of unwanted components, are aimed at improving the quality of NMR spectral signal by rejection of noise, removing unnecessary spectral components and irregularities. After pre-processing the basic operations on NMR spectra are aimed at estimation of levels of certain metabolites by analysis of appropriate structural properties of NMR spectral signals. In this paper authors present design and implementation of two signals modelling methods. The first one is based on singular value decomposition of the induction decay signal. The second is done with use of mixture model constructed for frequency spectrum. Authors present all assumption that need to be satisfied and processing steps that must be performed before final analysis. The methods studied in the paper are implemented under the black-box assumption;i.e., prior knowledge of parameters of metabolites in the spectra is not used. As a second part of the project authors present a comparison of obtained result with popular modelling techniques and software LCmodel and Tarquin, based on experimental phantom dataset. Comparisons between different methods are based on the commonly used quality indexes, mean squared errors corresponding to levels of detected metabolites and specificities and sensitivities of the process of detection of metabolites. Using the presented comparisons we authors are able to characterize advantages and drawbacks of the studied approaches.
