In this paper, we present a systematic approach based on harmonic balance method to study the entrained oscillations in a class of Goodwin-type oscillator networks forced by external periodic signals consisting of high order harmonics. First, a necessary condition and a conjecture for entrainment of network oscillations are presented. Next, the authors reveal an estimation for the profile of entrained oscillations in one situation and the monotone dependence of the amplitude and phase shift of entrained oscillations to the external input in other contexts. The theoretical results are then illustrated through some examples including a practical model for circadian rhythm in Neurospora crassa.

In particular, the focuses were two-fold: (1) realizing the abilities to identify and localize in a vehicle's on-board video the sweeping windshield wipers during raining days and (2) designing and implementing an in-painting technique to remove the image of the windshield wipers and replace it with the corresponding pixels (not blocked by the wipers) from an adjacent video frame.

This paper proposes a new algorithm to eliminate the wiper interference in a vehicle's onboard video to improve the detection rate of vision-based Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW) Systems. During raining days, the windshield wipers periodically and partially block the appearance of obstacles on the road that are to be detected in these early warning systems, and hence, impair their performance. The wiper pixels could be in-painted via (1) localizing the pixels belonging to the wipers and (2) replacing the wiper pixels with non-wiper pixels extracted from an adjacent video frame with no such blockage. Finally, since it is impossible to obtain the images captured in the same scenario with and without wiper interference, a quantitatively analyzing framework which blends wipers into non-wiper images is also proposed to quantitatively assess the detection rate of data with wipers, without wipers and with wipers but eliminated by our algorithm. The experimental results show that the wiper pixels being segmented and in-painted blend in unobtrusively with the surrounding pixels and the FCW detection rate is indeed improved.

Currently, There are a lot of clustering algorithms in data mining areas, at the same time the new algorithms are emerging more and more. However, each algorithm in the existing mining tools is designed independently that based on their respective mind. After analyzing a large number of clustering algorithms, a conclusion is that some algorithms are designed similarly, some algorithms inherit from others. Therefore, after having summarized the design philosophy of the existing algorithms, found the correlation between them, then realizes the modular of algorithm features with the help of the object-oriented design. It is significant to increase the versatility of the code, and enhance code maintainability and future updates and maintenance of mining tools.

This paper addresses the problem of fully covering an a priori known environment with fixed obstacles by a mobile agent. The blind region (i.e., the region hidden by the obstacles from the viewpoint of the agent) is described geometrically via both an exact and an over-approximation procedure. It is shown that the structure of this region depends on the hyperplane arrangement originating from the obstacles. This is further used to provide an mixed integer programming construction which allows to test if the feasible space is (or is not) fully covered by the agent(s). These novel results are examined over illustrative examples.
