Requirement elicitation (RE) is a cognitively challenging and time-consuming task in software development due to the numerous challenges associated with it including conflicting requirements, unspoken, or assumed requirements, difficulty meeting with relevant stakeholders, stakeholder resistance to change, and not enough time set aside for meetings with all stakeholders. The prime causes of software implementation failure have been identified as inadequacies in the treatment of requirements. Without collecting the quality requirement, cannot achieve the goal of a quality software product. Through identifying the success factors affecting requirement elicitation, the paths to the quality requirements can be identified. The success factors identify through this research are experience, business analyst skills, stakeholder relationship, organizational elicitation process. This study aims to identify the factors affecting requirement elicitation based on the data collected from business analysts and similar positions in the software industry through a survey, interviews, and analyzed data to provide the initial validation for the identified factors. Through the analysis, we identified the main factors affecting successful requirement elicitation with a perfect significance value of less than 0.05 for all factors. © 2022 IEEE.

While the majority of existing pre-trained models from code learn source code features such as code tokens and abstract syntax trees, there are some other works that focus on learning from compiler intermediate representations (IRs). Existing IR-based models typically utilize IR features such as instructions, control and data flow graphs (CDFGs), call graphs, etc. However, these methods confuse variable nodes and instruction nodes in a CDFG and fail to distinguish different types of flows, and the neural networks they use fail to capture long-distance dependencies and have over-smoothing and over-squashing problems. To address these weaknesses, we propose FAIR, a Flow type-Aware pre-trained model for IR that involves employing (1) a novel input representation of IR programs;(2) Graph Transformer to address over-smoothing, over-squashing and long-dependencies problems;and (3) five pre-training tasks that we specifically propose to enable FAIR to learn the semantics of IR tokens, flow type information, and the overall representation of IR. Experimental results show that FAIR can achieve state-of-the-art results on four code-related downstream tasks. © 2024 IEEE Computer Society. All rights reserved.

In recent years, cloud computing has witnessed widespread applications across numerous organizations. Predicting workload and computing resource data can facilitate proactive service operation management, leading to substantial improvements in Quality of Service and cost efficiency. However, these data often exhibit nonlinearity, high volatility, and interdependencies across different categories, presenting challenges for accurate forecasting. Consequently, there is a critical need to develop a method that thoroughly and comprehensively analyzes all available data to forecast future trends effectively. This work proposes a novel integrated data-enhanced prediction model named SVAPI for achieving high-accuracy workload prediction in cloud computing systems. SVAPI employs the Savitzky-Golay filter, Variational mode decomposition, and the mode selection based on Amplitude-aware Permutation entropy for feature processing, whose features are subsequently utilized by Informer for multivariate joint analysis of the enhanced data, achieving high-precision prediction. Ablation and comparative experiments with advanced prediction models are conducted on the Google cluster trace and other typical datasets. Realistic data-driven results indicate that SVAPI improves the prediction accuracy by 37.7% compared to the original Informer, with each module contributing to the performance enhancement. Furthermore, compared with Autoformer, SVAPI enhances the prediction accuracy of workload, CPU, and memory by 65.6%, 66.9%, and 70.8%, respectively, demonstrating that SVAPI owns strong abilities in noise filtering, feature processing, and multivariate joint analysis for achieving higher prediction accuracy. © 2014 IEEE.

Learning a Coordinated Network for Detail-Refinement Multiexposure Image Fusion

Nowadays, deep learning has made rapid progress in the field of multi-exposure image fusion. However, it is still challenging to extract available features while retaining texture details and color. To address this difficult issue, in this paper, we propose a coordinated learning network for detail-refinement in an end-to-end manner. Firstly, we obtain shallow feature maps from extreme over/under-exposed source images by a collaborative extraction module. Secondly, smooth attention weight maps are generated under the guidance of a self-attention module, which can draw a global connection to correlate patches in different locations. With the cooperation of the two aforementioned used modules, our proposed network can obtain a coarse fused image. Moreover, by assisting with an edge revision module, edge details of fused results are refined and noise is suppressed effectively. We conduct subjective qualitative and objective quantitative comparisons between the proposed method and twelve state-of-the-art methods on two available public datasets, respectively. The results show that our fused images significantly outperform others in visual effects and evaluation metrics. In addition, we also perform ablation experiments to verify the function and effectiveness of each module in our proposed method. Load balancing is vital for the efficient and long-term operation of cloud data *** virtualization,post(reactive)migration of virtual machines(VMs)after allocation is the traditional way for load balancing and consoli***,it is not easy for reactive migration to obtain predefined load balance objectives and it may interrupt services and bring ***,we provide a new approach,called Prepartition,for load *** partitions a VM request into a few sub-requests sequentially with start time,end time and capacity demands,and treats each sub-request as a regular VM *** this way,it can proactively set a bound for each VM request on each physical machine and makes the scheduler get ready before VM migration to obtain the predefined load balancing goal,which supports the resource allocation in a fine-grained *** with real-world trace and synthetic data show that our proposed approach with offline version(PrepartitionOff)scheduling has 10%–20%better performance than the existing load balancing baselines under several metrics,including average utilization,imbalance degree,makespan and Capacity_*** also extend Prepartition to online load *** results show that our proposed approach also outperforms state-of-the-art online algorithms.

Behavior trees (BTs) have been extensively applied in the area of both computer games and robotics, as the control architectures. However, the construction of BTs is labor-expensive, time-consuming, and even impossible as the complexity of task increases. In this work, we propose a formal verification based synthesis method to automatically construct BTs whose behaviors satisfy the given Linear Temporal Logic (LTL) specifications. Our method first explores candidate BTs by a grammar-based Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS), then the explored BTs are transformed into Communicating Sequential Processes (CSP) models. After that, we invoke the verifier to check the models’ correctness w.r.t. specifications, and provide feedback based on the verification result for guiding the search process. The application of our method on several representative robotic missions indicates its promising. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Solving systems of linear equations is a fundamental problem in scientific computing, which has been extensively researched for decades. One of the most well-known solvers is Algebraic Multigrid (AMG), which is widely used in high performance computing due to its good scalability. But currently accelerating AMG relies on the traditional von Neumann architecture of storage and computation separation, which leads to a large data transmission overhead. In this work, we propose a ReRAM-based processing-in-memory (PIM) architecture named AmgR, which overcomes the limitations of the traditional von Neumann architecture for AMG ***, accelerating AMG on ReRAM is non-trivial, because (1) AMG has many computing kernels of various types; (2) there are irregular operations that cannot be directly performed using matrix-vector multiplication suitable for ReRAM, i.e., aggregation operation; (3) ReRAM has poor write endurance, and a lot of data during AMG acceleration needs to be rewritten into ReRAM, resulting in high write cost. To address these issues, firstly, we propose a flexible architecture, which can realize each kernel of AMG and is reused by many kernels to improve resource utilization. Secondly, we propose a dedicated unit to realize the aggregation operation. Finally, we present a new mapping strategy to greatly reduce the number of data handling and writes. The experimental results show that the performance of AmgR is improved by an average of one and two orders of magnitude compared to HYPRE on the CPU and AmgX on the GPU, respectively, while the energy consumption is reduced by an average of two and three orders of magnitude.

Tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery via semi-supervised learning

Identifying cancer-related differentially expressed genes provides significant information for diagnosing tumors, predicting prognoses, and effective treatments. Recently, deep learning methods have been used to perform gene differential expression analysis using microarray-based high-throughput gene profiling and have achieved good results. In this study, we proposed a new robust multiple-datasetsbased semi-supervised learning model, MSSL, to perform tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery across multiple tumor types and multiple datasets, which addressed the following long-lasting obstacles:(1) the data volume of the existing single dataset is not enough to fully exert the advantages of deep learning;(2) a large number of datasets from different research institutions cannot be effectively used due to inconsistent internal variances and low quality;(3) relatively uncommon cancers have limited effects on deep learning methods. In our article, we applied MSSL to The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) and the Gene Expression Comprehensive Database(GEO) pan-cancer normalized-level3 RNA-seq data and got 97.6% final classification accuracy, which had a significant performance leap compared with previous approaches. Finally, we got the ranking of the importance of the corresponding genes for each cancer type based on classification results and validated that the top genes selected in this way were biologically meaningful for corresponding tumors and some of them had been used as biomarkers, which showed the efficacy of our method.

In the production and assembly process, the accuracy of detection is usually low due to limited resources and small quantities. In this paper, we propose a few-shot learning method for object detection based on the combination of YOLOv8 and Mamba-Like Linear Attention (MLLA) module. This method utilizes a high-pixel camera to capture the shape and size of the workpiece. By consistency-based mutual augmentation structure for few-shot samples data augmentation. By introducing the efficient and lightweight MLLA module, the model's speed and accuracy in object detection and segmentation tasks on mobile devices are significantly improved. Specifically, MLLA mainly integrates the two key elements of 'forget gate' and 'block design' in Mamba, and MLLA replaces forget gate by using position coding (RoPE) to provide necessary location information while maintaining parallel computation and fast inference speed. This makes MLLA improves the accuracy of detection and segmentation recognition. Experimental results show that compared to the original YOLOv8 model, the model with the MLLA module exhibits improvements in segmentation precision and recognition accuracy. This method demonstrates high accuracy and robustness in workpiece recognition, making it suitable for real-time industrial applications. © 2024 IEEE.

This article aims to incorporate search engine optimization validation into the development process of JavaScript-based web applications, thus connecting two sides of optimizations, namely the selection of appropriate practices and their correct implementation. We summarize strategies for achieving search engine optimization (SEO) compliance in single-page applications (SPAs) and propose two distinct testing solutions aimed at addressing SEO concerns in modern web apps. Both approaches are incorporated into CI/CD pipelines, making it possible to enforce existing SEO strategies. The issue of visibility in search engines is especially characteristic for JavaScript-based frameworks. This is because of the way they load and render their content, are mostly unable to achieve satisfactory SEO scores and rankings. Due to the ever-increasing popularity of these frameworks, it is essential to identify and compare available optimization techniques to address this subject adequately. Here, we take a closer look at the SEO-friendly features of *** and *** frameworks and evaluate their capabilities using two mock e-commerce websites as examples. To fulfill our second objective, an approach to continuous SEO testing is presented. We discuss the results of similar CI/CD pipeline setups using distinct technologies and tools, in particular Jenkins and GitHub actions. The results show that by integrating specific tests focused on SEO into CI/CD pipelines, developers can identify crucial shortcomings of their product and eliminate them before they cause harm in the production environment. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.
