In recent years, the use of skeleton data for human action recognition has received increasing attention in fields such as intelligent monitoring, human-object interaction, and video retrieval. Among them, Modeling Human Skeleton as Spatial-Temporal Graph Convolutional Network (ST-GCN) has made significant progress. However, methods based on Graph Convolution (GCN) generally face two issues: on one hand, the receptive fields of the spatial and temporal graphs are not flexible enough, limiting their feature representation capabilities. On the other hand, the model is overly parameterized, leading to high computational costs. In this paper, we first propose a spatial-temporal transpose convolution module to overcome the inflexibility of the spatial-temporal graph receptive field. Secondly, we introduce 1 *1 convolutions and depth-wise separable convolution layers into the network model, effectively reducing the computational complexity of the model. On the two subsets of the large-scale skeleton action recognition dataset NTU RGB-D, experimental results show that the proposed method achieved Top1 accuracy metrics of 84.6% and 92.5% respectively, while the model size was reduced by 13.48 times compared to the classic ST-GCN method, and the computational complexity was reduced by approximately 17.18 times.

FAIR: Flow Type-Aware Pre-Training of Compiler Intermediate Representations

While the majority of existing pre-trained models from code learn source code features such as code tokens and abstract syntax trees, there are some other works that focus on learning from compiler intermediate representations (IRs). Existing IR-based models typically utilize IR features such as instructions, control and data flow graphs (CDFGs), call graphs, etc. However, these methods confuse variable nodes and instruction nodes in a CDFG and fail to distinguish different types of flows, and the neural networks they use fail to capture long-distance dependencies and have over-smoothing and over-squashing problems. To address these weaknesses, we propose FAIR, a Flow type-Aware pre-trained model for IR that involves employing (1) a novel input representation of IR programs;(2) Graph Transformer to address over-smoothing, over-squashing and long-dependencies problems;and (3) five pre-training tasks that we specifically propose to enable FAIR to learn the semantics of IR tokens, flow type information, and the overall representation of IR. The precise recognition of human action is of great significance for intelligent monitoring and video analysis. Previous researchers have utilized many methods to detect human action, but the accuracy and robustness of these methods remain to be improved. Skeleton-based action recognition methods have reported high accuracy and robustness, but these methods have not fully utilized multiple modalities for feature fusion. In order to solve the above problems, a multi-modality feature fusion based video surveillance personnel action recognition method is proposed by combining the two methods. The SlowOnly network is used to extract RGB modality features. The Faster R-CNN and Lite-HRNet networks are used to obtain skeleton modality data. The PoseC3D network is used to extract skeleton modality features. The early and late fusion of RGB modality features and skeleton modality features are performed. Then the action recognition results of video surveillance personnel are obtained. The experimental results on the NTU RGB+D public dataset under the X-Sub standard show the following points. In the action recognition model based on a single skeleton modality, PoseC3D has a higher recognition accuracy than GCN methods, reaching 92.8%. In the action recognition model based on RGB modality, recognition accuracy has reached 95.4%. The action recognition model based on multi-modality feature fusion has a higher recognition accuracy than the recognition model based on a single modality, reaching 96.1%.

As a developing country, Sri Lanka needs to go along with cutting-edge technologies. In the beginning phase of this digital advertising, multiple advertisements were displayed on the users’ feeds, including advertisements despite their preferences. This was a terrible user experience for the users. However, smart advertising based on customer preferences can manage the flow of advertisements on the feed as per the users’ preferences. This same technique can be used in handling advertisements while shopping at supermarkets. These advertisements can be directed based on demographic characteristics like face and gender and previous customer transactions. Additionally, providing the nearest supermarket they can reach based on their current location. Queue management is the next most crucial facility that needs to be provided to a supermarket. However, the manual system of queue management is not effective. But with a modernized queue management system, overcrowded supermarkets can be managed effectively. This proposed system also considers providing a chatbot service to manage customer inquiries in a reliable strategy. In this system, we mainly used the Keras model called VGGFace for face detection, the Conventional Neural Network and Keras-based model for gender detection, the TensorFlow model called Single Shot MultiBox Detection MobileNet for queue and crowd detection, the Apriori algorithm base model for predicting the buying pattern, a Keras-based model for Artificial Intelligence chatbot and finally, google map Application Programming Interface for the nearest supermarket finding are models and technology. This system was developed to manage a supermarket properly.

Metapopulation epidemic models help capture the spatial dimension of infectious disease spread by dividing heterogeneous populations into separate but interconnected communities, represented by nodes in a network. In the event of an epidemic, an important research question is, to what degree spatial information (i.e., regional or national) is relevant for mitigation and (local) policymakers. This study investigates the impact of different levels of information on nationwide epidemic outcomes, modeling the reaction to the measured hazard as a feedback loop reducing contact rates in a metapopulation model based on ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Using COVID-19 and high-resolution mobility data for Germany of 2020 as a case study, we found two markedly different regimes depending on the maximum contact reduction ψmax: mitigation and suppression. In the regime of (modest) mitigation, gradually increasing ψmax from zero to moderate levels delayed and spread out the onset of infection waves while gradually reducing the peak values. This effect was more pronounced when the contribution of regional information was low relative to national data. In the suppression regime, the feedback-induced contact reduction is strong enough to extinguish local outbreaks and decrease the mean and variance of the peak day distribution, thus regional information was more important. The Industrial Internet accelerates the network integration and collaborative communication of IT and OT, and has become the critical technical support for smart factories. Using OPC UA as the industrial network communication infrastructure can realize the interconnection and intercommunication of heterogeneous network devices, breaking information islands and data barriers. However, with the diversification of industrial data types and the continuous increase of data volume, the single communication mode based on OPC UA has poor performance in real-time data transmission and high network delay. It is difficult to meet high real-time and high reliability requirements. Aiming at the above problems, this paper proposes a deterministic communication model for Industrial Internet based on OPC UA-TSN. Integrate the two communication architectures of OPC UA and TSN, and use OPC UA as the communication specification for heterogeneous network devices to realize the interconnection and intercommunication of the underlying industrial network. We use TSN to replace traditional industrial Ethernet as the network data transmission medium to ensure the deterministic transmission of time-sensitive data. In addition, an OPC UA-TSN message mapping method and an OPC UA-TSN network configuration scheme are constructed to realize the intercommunication between OPC UA and TSN. At the same time, we propose a frame-preemptive dynamic scheduling algorithm for TSN (FPDS), which reasonably allocates bandwidth resources to each priority data stream. The experimental results show that this model realizes the network communication between OPC UA and TSN. It can schedule different types of data streams, effectively reducing the transmission delay of time-sensitive data. This model ensures the efficient utilization of TSN queues and improves the quality of service level of the smart factory communication network.

Indoor positioning is a thriving research area, which is slowly gaining market momentum. Its applications are mostly customized, ad hoc installations;ubiquitous applications analogous to Global Navigation Satellite System for outdoors are not available because of the lack of generic platforms, widely accepted standards and interoperability protocols. In this context, the indoor positioning and indoor navigation (IPIN) competition is the only long-term, technically sound initiative to monitor the state of the art of real systems by measuring their performance in a realistic environment. Most competing systems are pedestrian-oriented and based on the use of smartphones, but several competing tracks were set up, enabling comparison of an array of technologies. The two IPIN competitions described here include only off-site tracks. In contrast with on-site tracks where competitors bring their systems on-site - which were impossible to organize during 2021 and 2022 - in off-site tracks competitors download prerecorded data from multiple sensors and process them using the EvaalAPI, a real-time, web-based emulation interface. As usual with IPIN competitions, tracks were compliant with the EvAAL framework, ensuring consistency of the measurement procedure and reliability of results. The main contribution of this work is to show a compilation of possible indoor positioning scenarios and different indoor positioning solutions to the same problem. © 2023 CCBY.

Concentration of Data Encoding in Parameterized Quantum Circuits

Variational quantum algorithms have been acknowledged as a leading strategy to realize near-term quantum advantages in meaningful tasks, including machine learning and combinatorial optimization. When applied to tasks involving classical data, such algorithms generally begin with quantum circuits for data encoding and then train quantum neural networks (QNNs) to minimize target functions. Although QNNs have been widely studied to improve these algorithms’ performance on practical tasks, there is a gap in systematically understanding the influence of data encoding on the eventual performance. In this paper, we make progress in filling this gap by considering the common data encoding strategies based on parameterized quantum circuits. We prove that, under reasonable assumptions, the distance between the average encoded state and the maximally mixed state could be explicitly upper-bounded with respect to the width and depth of the encoding circuit. This result in particular implies that the average encoded state will concentrate on the maximally mixed state at an exponential speed on depth. Such concentration seriously limits the capabilities of quantum classifiers, and strictly restricts the distinguishability of encoded states from a quantum information perspective. We further support our findings by numerically verifying these results on both synthetic and public data sets. Our results highlight the significance of quantum data encoding in machine learning tasks and may shed light on future encoding strategies. © 2022, CC BY.

Realizing Generalized Zero-Shot Learning (GZSL) based on large models is emerging as a prevailing trend. However, most existing methods merely regard large models as black boxes, solely leveraging the features output by the final layer while disregarding potential performance enhancements from other layers. Indeed, numerous researchers have visually depicted variations in the features learned across different layers of neural networks. Motivated by this observation, we propose a Vision Transformer (ViT)-based GZSL method named Depth-Aware Multi-Modal ViT (DAM2ViT), which exploits multi-level features of ViT. DAM2ViT incorporates a multi-modal interaction block to align semantic information of categories across multiple layers, thereby augmenting the model’s capacity to learn associations between visual and semantic spaces. Extensive experiments conducted on three benchmark datasets (i.e., CUB, SUN, AWA2) have showcased that DAM2ViT achieves competitive results compared to state-of-the-art methods. © 2024 IEEE.
