In these last few years, the Internet as it is today has put some limitations on the evolution of new services. Problems such as address space scarcity, mobility, sensor networks and VoIP are becoming common requirements now and will be more frequent in future. However, the current Internet architecture does not support this evolution. In 2003, Jon Crowcroft [1] discussed the problems of the Internet Architecture. In January 2005, a report from NSF [2] addressed the barriers that need to be faced in order to overcome limitations towards a new internetworking architecture. In this paper, we discuss how Web services can be useful in solving some interdomain problems. The strong interaction between ISPs already exists and will be more necessary as new services appear. We believe that the Web services solution is a facilitator in this path. Our discussion is supported by the CANARIE [3] research point of view that everything is a service. We use this idea in the context of interdomain interactions where each domain is then seen as a service. We developed an architecture to support these interactions and evaluated the prototype in terms of time and bandwidth consumption to provide interdomain services.

In the underexcitation quadrant, standard power chart of synchronous generator has its limit defined by practical stability limit and by field current minimum. However, during the time, some generators have shown certain sensitivity during the permanent underexcited operation even in the stabile operating area due to local heating of magnetic conductive parts in the end region of the machine. Underexcited operation is usually required in case of raised network voltage while the active power demands are lowered. Precise knowledge of limits of underexcited operation ability enables precise planning of system reactive power trading. Some world experiences, axial magnetic field measurements, as well as local heating measurements in the end region of synchronous generator are presented. Based on mentioned measurements, it is possible to define real power chart which almost always deviates in capacitive operating area compared to manufacturer's diagram.

A novel 2D Transmission Line Matrix (TLM) model is proposed for evaluating the performance of CNC machine tool digital feed drives. This modelling approach is used to represent accurately the dynamic behaviour of a ball-screw system. The influence of geometric errors over the machining accuracy across the working volume is included. The model is implemented in MATLAB and the simulation results compare well to the ball bar measurements for the same stimuli conditions on the actual machine. In this way the proposed 2D TLM model is validated.

This paper presents a method for detecting the small changes in image patterns applied on ceramic tiles using differential digital holography. Holograms are constructed from tile images using composition of spherical waves. One hologram is created from ceramic tile with correct pattern and the other hologram is created from tile with small error in pattern. The two holograms are subtracted and resulting hologram is observed. Next step in the process is creating image from subtracted holograms. The results show that for small change in the tile pattern there is a great alteration in the hologram and reconstructed image. The experiment is repeated with different tile errors in patterns

Virtual 3D models play important role in a today factory layout design, physical modeling, control synthesis, performance analysis, dynamic simulation and visualization of real systems. In this paper, we go one step further and besides visualization, we monitor all measurable states in the real system and use active 3D models in-the-loop for real-time supervisory control. Such concept enables an event detection not possible with conventional sensors, including the ability to predict possible outcomes in the system operation. A virtual environment simulator and the way it can be connected to other simulators (e.g., Matlab/Simulink), is presented. In the paper different fourth order filter designs with different transfer function approximations are discussed. Specifications on the filters are given for VDSL signal processing. Transfer functions and filter elements are given and sensitivity and noise for each design are calculated. The lowest sensitivity is obtained using a cascade of Rauch biquads, the lowest noise gives Akerberg-Mosberg design and the best selectivity is obtained using an elliptic filter.
