This paper proposes the utilization of One-Cycle Controller (OCC) for multi proposal tasks in photovoltaic (PV) systems that supply power to DC applications. The photovoltaic system proposed in this paper is composed of one PV panel and two DC-DC converters connected in series: one for track the maximum power point and the other to regulate the bus voltage for DC applications. Both of the converters are switched by controllers that utilize OCC modulation instead of the classical Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). The results in this paper show that OCC is a multi-objective modulation technique that provides faster transient response than PWM technique, good reference tracking and robustness to the system preventing the loads reduce their useful life or be damaged permanently.

The stripping method has been widely used to serve the requests simultaneously in Solid-State Drive (SSD). Although most of the stripping methods can improve the I/O performance of SSD, they will also result in the asymmetric distribution of the requests between the logical space and physical space, This will induce extra garbage collection operations, and will affect both of the endurance and the I/O performance of SSDs. This paper presents Garbage Collection Aware Stripping (GCAS), a novel stripping method that considers the efficiency of garbage collection for NAND flash memory based SSDs. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that jointly optimizes garbage collection operation and the I/O performance of stripping methods in NAND flash memory based SSDs. We implemented GCAS on a real hardware platform. Experiments show that GCAS can achieve a 15.87% reduction in terms of the number of the block erase count and can reduce 47.6% worst-case response time compared with a representative stripping method.

A fuzzy DEMATEL approach based on intuitionistic fuzzy information for evaluating knowledge transfer effectiveness in GSD projects

The offshore/onsite teams' effectiveness of knowledge transfer is significantly measured by various kinds of factors. In this paper, we propose a knowledge transfer (KT) assessment framework which integrates four criteria for evaluating the KT effectiveness of GSD teams. These are: knowledge, team, technology, and organisation factors. In this context, we present a fuzzy DEMATEL approach for assessing GSD teams KT effectiveness based on intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IFNs). In this approach, decision makers provide their subjective judgments on the criteria, characterised on the basis of intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Moreover, intuitionistic fuzzy sets used in the fuzzy DEMATEL approach can effectively assess the KT effectiveness criteria and rank the alternatives. Subsequently, the entire process is illustrated with GSD teams' KT evaluation criteria samples, and the factors are ranked using fuzzy linguistic variables which are mapped to IFNs. Afterwards, the IFNs are converted into their corresponding basic probability assignments (BPAs) and then the Dempster-Shafer theory is used to combine the group decision making process. Besides, illustrative applicability and usefulness of the proposed approach in group decision making process for the evaluation of multiple criteria under fuzzy environment has been tested by software professionals at Inowits Software Organisation in India. Wireless local area networks (WLANs) are pervasive but crowded nowadays. It is of great importance for access points (APs) to adapt to the changing traffic conditions. Exiting approaches for channel selection largely rely on local channel assessment and adopt greedy selection strategies. They suffer a major limitation that an AP fail to take various traffic demands of clients into account. We have witnessed that wireless sensor networks are increasingly deployed everywhere. A ZigBee sensor operates on the 2.4G radio spectrum which overlaps the spectrum used by most WiFi APs. As a result, a ZigBee sensor is able to sense the traffic of different AP channels. Motivated by this important observation, we present the design, implementation and evaluation of OutSence, a system that enables APs to takes traffic volumes of clients into account. It makes use of channel utilization sensed by ZigBee sensors and allows an AP to select a channel of good performance. The salient feature of OutSence is that it exploits in-situ ZigBee sensors for APs to quickly adapt to short-term traffic variations (e.g., order of minutes). We have fully implemented OutSence on Telos B sensor nodes and off-the-self APs. Extensive experiments have been conducted and conclusive results demonstrate that OutSence effectively improves overall WLAN performance.

In recent years, the Information Technology develops rapidly. With the development of the Information Technology, the social manufacturing, a new mode of manufacturing, has been proposed. The social manufacturing combines the Internet technology, the three-dimensional scanning technology and the virtual reality technology, and is used in the apparel industry and other fashion industries for the mass customization. The three-dimensional scanning technology and the virtual fitting mirror technology are inseparable from the depth camera. Depth cameras play an important role in the social manufacturing. Manufacturers use depth cameras to obtain three-dimensional models of the body of customers to design suitable clothes. Customers can visually see the effect of clothes by using a virtual fitting mirror which is based on the depth camera. The social manufacturing makes mass customization possible, and the depth camera help develop the social manufacturing. This paper introduces the principles of depth cameras, and the application of depth cameras in the social manufacturing.

In this work, we analyze efficient communication methods for a grid of many-core processors in the absence of cache coherence. For this study, we build a multi-chip processor with 240 tightly connected cores and demonstrate its scalability. This processor is based on the Intel SCC, a cluster- on-a-chip research processor with 48 non-coherent memory coupled cores. Our new research system virtually extends the on-chip network of multiple SCC systems and provides new communication functionality for direct on-chip memory access. We analyze access patterns of different communication schemes and apply techniques to hide latency, such as offoading communication and software caching with relaxed consistency. This paper proposes a fuzzy logic based algorithm which decides the best telescope, within a heterogeneous network, taking into account user constraints, weather forecast, visibility and statistical information from every telescope. The main objective of this algorithm is to serve the maximum number of observations as soon as possible, minimizing the reallocation process and improving the selection one. Moreover, this algorithm has been deployed into the GLORIA robotic telescope network, which is composed by 17 heterogeneous telescopes located in different countries, and also, it has been tested using an interface deployed into the GLORIA user website which has been tested by real users. Finally, using this information, a comparison between this algorithm and the previous one, is analyzed. © 2015 IEEE.

Outlier detection is a problem that has been largely studied in the past few years due to its great applicability in real world problems (e.g. financial, social, climate, security). Fault detection in industrial processes is one of these problems. In that context, several methods have been proposed in literature to address fault detection. In this paper we propose a comparative analysis of three recently introduced outlier detection methods: RDE, RDE with Forgetting and TEDA. Such methods were applied to the data set provided in DAMADICS benchmark, a very well-known real data tool for fault detection applications. The results, however, can be extended to similar problems of the area. Therewith, in this work we compare the main features of each method as well as the results obtained with them. © 2015 IEEE.
