In this paper, a model predictive controller for time delay capsubot system is presented. Linearized dynamics is used to predictive future system behavior and a control law is derived from a quadratic cost function penalizing the system tracking error and the control effort. It is noted that model predictive control has advantages over state feedback law because of consideration of constraints on inputs or state vectors. Examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the approach. Some ideas for future work are also discussed.

This paper deals with the problem of H infin norm computation for general symmetric systems and descriptor symmetric systems. The computation of H infin norm for state-space symmetric systems is extended to descriptor symmetric systems. An explicit expression is given based on the bound real lemma (BRL), and the generalized bound real lemma (GBRL). The results have obvious computational advantages, especially for large scale descriptor symmetric systems. Additionally, two numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the results.

The problem of robust Hinfin guaranteed control for the descriptor systems with time-delay and parameter uncertainty is considered. A sufficient condition for the existence of non-fragile Hinfin controller is presented in terms of linear matrix inequality such that the resulting closed-loop system is robustly stable and guarantees Hinfin performance index. It is proved that the condition also satisfies the requirement of guaranteed cost control and an upper bound on the given cost function can be given. Furthermore, a design method of the optimal Hinfin guaranteed cost control is given against the constant initial value. If the Hinfin performance index and the upper bound are optimized by a series of proportion, the relationship of them can be derived. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed results.

Motivated by an adaptive synchronization problem for the Chua's circuit with an uncertain harmonic system, we first consider an adaptive stabilization problem for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with both dynamic and static uncertainties. A sufficient condition on the convergence of the estimated parameter to true parameter is also given. Then we show that the synchronization problem for the Chua's circuit and the uncertain harmonic system can be converted into the adaptive stabilization problem under consideration. Finally, an adaptive feedback control law is designed such that, the output of the Chua's circuit can asymptotically synchronize, in the presence of large parameter variations, with a sine function with arbitrary unknown frequency, amplitude, and phase angles.

Bayesian networks have been widely applied to the feature selection problem. The existing approaches learn a Bayesian network from the available dataset and, afterward, utilize the Markov Blanket of the target feature as the criterion to select the relevant features. The Bayesian network learning can be viewed as a search and optimization procedure, where a search mechanism explores the space of all network structures while a scoring metric evaluates each candidate solution based on the likelihood. This paper investigates the application of an immune-inspired algorithm as the search procedure for obtaining high-quality Bayesian networks, motivated by the dynamical control of the population size and diversity along the search. Due to the resulting multimodal search capability, in a single run of the algorithm several subsets of features are obtained. Experiments on ten datasets were carried out in order to evaluate the proposed methodology in classification problems, and reduced-size subsets of features were produced.

In many real-world scenarios, in contrast to standard benchmark optimization problems, we may face some uncertainties regarding the objective function. One source of these uncertainties is a constantly changing environment in which the optima change their location over time. New heuristics or adaptations to already available algorithms must be conceived in order to deal with such problems. Among the desirable features that a search strategy should exhibit to deal with dynamic optimization are diversity maintenance, a memory of past solutions, and a multipopulation structure of candidate solutions. In this paper, an immune-inspired algorithm that presents these features, called dopt-aiNet, is properly adapted to deal with six newly proposed benchmark instances, and the obtained results are outlined according to the available specifications for the competition at the Congress on Evolutionary Computation 2009.

The presented study compares measured and calculated electromagnetic field in the surroundings of a large power transformer with the aim to avoid the necessity of measuring the field on subsequent units and use a computer model instead. The influences of various objects located in the vicinity of the transformer during measurement are also analyzed and are taken into account in a computer model.

In this paper we study the global robust output regulation problem for a class of nonlinear systems by output feedback control. The class of systems possesses nonlinear zero-dynamics and, is thus considerably larger than systems studied in the existing literature. As an illustration of our approach, we have applied our approach to the global robust asymptotic tracking problem of the hyperchaotic Lorenz system.

Need of blood pressure measurement is usable in wide spectrum of applications from physicians offices to home care applications. Many types of blood pressure measurement devices can be bought in electronics shops. All such devices are measurement devices which need to be in contact with human body (hand or foot mainly). Further they allow only one measurement per several minutes interval (typically 10 minutes). Our goal is to develop a small device for noninvasive continuous measurement of blood pressure. This device must be a small battery powered embedded system which measures a blood pressure during a long time period and sends this information to remote operator's stations. In this station the analysis of receiving video data is made for several types of usage. In current state we develop a small device to scan a video or a set of images with the NIR (Near Infra Red) CCD camera. The video data are transferred by wireless connection to the computer where they are analyzed. The first results provide an indication to be a right way to obtain exact continuous blood pressure information. In the future there exists a way to integrate this blood pressure measurement system to concurrently developed biotelemetric system architecture for patients and physicians called Guardian. For position monitoring in outdoor areas there is developed GPS module which informs about patient location and brings very precise time basis for other measuring modules of Guardian system and time synchronization.
