Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) with small, densely distributed wireless sensor nodes are being envisioned and developed for a variety of applications. The advantages of WSN enable its significant prospects in target identification. Vehicle identification is the basic issue in Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) which is the typical application of WSN. Due to the diversity of road condition, the variety of vehicle and the complexity of on-road environment, readings or information obtained from sensor may be inaccurate. In this paper, to deal with the inaccuracy, we propose the Dempster-Shafer Theory of Evidence(DST) based vehicle identification algorithm (DST-VI) under the ITS background and put forward a novel basic belief mass construction model which is the crucial issue in DST theory. The experimental results sufficiently show the flexibility of the basic belief mass construction model and the efficiency of DST-VI algorithm.

Dark matter particle annihilation or decay can produce monochromatic gamma-ray lines and contribute to the diffuse gamma-ray background. Flux upper limits are presented for gamma-ray spectral lines from 7 to 200 GeV and for the diffuse gamma-ray background from 4.8 GeV to 264 GeV obtained from two years of Fermi Large Area Telescope data integrated over most of the sky. We give cross-section upper limits and decay lifetime lower limits for dark matter models that produce gamma-ray lines or contribute to the diffuse spectrum, including models proposed as explanations of the PAMELA and Fermi cosmic-ray data.

Enhancing science inquiry ability of students has been recognized to be one of the most important education issues nowadays. Although various simulation programs have been developed for training science knowledge and ability, several problems have been revealed in practical learning activities. One major problem is owing to the lack of experiences in practical applications for what have learned from the textbooks. To deal with this problem, this study presents a context-aware ubiquitous learning system that employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to detect and examine real-world learning behaviors of students and provide personalized learning guidance accordingly. Experimental results from a science course of an elementary school show that this innovative approach is able to improve the learning achievements of students as well as enhance their learning motivation.
