Diabetes mellitus is one of the most pressing health concerns because so many people are afflicted by its disabling symptoms. Factors such as age, excess body fat, insufficient physical activity, a history of diabetes in one's family, a sedentary lifestyle, an unhealthy diet, hypertension, etc., all increase the likelihood of developing diabetes mellitus. Health complications are more common in people with diabetes, including cardiovascular disease, renal failure, stroke, blindness, and nerve injury. To validate a diagnosis of diabetes, hospitals typically perform a battery of procedures on the patient. Big data analytics has many vital applications in the healthcare sector. Numerous large computer systems are used in the healthcare sector. With the help of big data analytics, researchers can sift through mountains of data in search of previously unseen patterns and insights. Current techniques have a poor degree of precision in classification and forecast. While previous research has focused on factors such as glucose, body mass index, age, insulin, etc., the proposed model takes these into account and also the other factors that may be more relevant to the development of diabetes. The newer sample is superior to the older one based on categorization accuracy. A workflow algorithm for diabetes prognosis is also required to improve the accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper discusses the design and implementation process of mobile applications used by nurses to communicate with the elderly or with people appointed to represent the elderly in using this mobile application. This mobile application is expected to help caregivers or nurses monitor the health condition of the elderly, and this mobile application has several functions that make it complete. These functions include submitting weekly reports, communicating with others via forums, and providing relevant information about the elderly and how to deal with them, including news and government regulations on elderly care. This mobile application uses case diagrams to describe business processes and class diagrams to illustrate database design. As for the implementation, android studio and MySQL database are used for database storage. This paper is limited to 9 references for literature review previous similar research by searching for publication titles with the sentences 'mobile application'+elderly+care using quotation marks and without quotation marks for the words elderly and care for all years of publication. © 2022 IEEE.

The rapid advancement of immersive technologies has propelled the development of the Metaverse, where the convergence of virtual and physical realities necessitates the generation of high-quality, photorealistic images to enhance user experience. However, generating these images, especially through Generative Diffusion Models (GDMs), in mobile edge computing environments presents significant challenges due to the limited computing resources of edge devices and the dynamic nature of wireless networks. This paper proposes a novel framework that integrates contract-inspired contest theory, Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), and GDMs to optimize image generation in these resource-constrained environments. The framework addresses the critical challenges of resource allocation and semantic data transmission quality by incentivizing edge devices to efficiently transmit high-quality semantic data, which is essential for creating realistic and immersive images. The use of contest and contract theory ensures that edge devices are motivated to allocate resources effectively, while DRL dynamically adjusts to network conditions, optimizing the overall image generation process. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach not only improves the quality of generated images but also achieves superior convergence speed and stability compared to traditional methods. This makes the framework particularly effective for optimizing complex resource allocation tasks in mobile edge Metaverse applications, offering enhanced performance and efficiency in creating immersive virtual environments. © 2025, CC BY.

Human bodies are deeply political as they carry historical and social meanings, including race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, class, and abilities. The expanding body-centric research in HCI can be traced in the plurality of methods, theories and domains that take bodies as a central point of departure, when designing or studying interaction with technologies. This one-day workshop will bring together researchers and practitioners within the CHI community to discuss, map, and unpack emerging tensions and challenges on the topic of body politics for HCI. Interested participants are invited to submit examples from their own research, which, in the workshop, will be used as a point of departure to critically reflect on and expand body-centric methods, theories and domains through the lens of body politics. Workshop outcomes will include charting future directions for body-centric research to address challenges and opportunities of acknowledging that bodies are always political in design research. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Kidney stones are primarily crystals formed from ion oversaturation in urine. Currently, the diagnosis of kidney stones involves experienced professionals manually interpreting images of urinary crystals under a microscope. In recent years, with the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), many researchers have proposed various methods to assist in diagnosis, hoping to improve medical quality. This study explored the application of AI in the medical field, aiming to automate the interpretation of urinary crystal images, such as red blood corpuscles (RBCs), calcium oxalate monohydrate (COM), calcium oxalate dihydrate octahedron (COD-OCT), calcium oxalate dihydrate dodecahedron (COD-DOD), debris, and others, and to use image processing techniques to classify urinary crystal types. This research is expected to assist medical personnel in quickly determining the categories of urinary crystals. Ultimately, our model achieved an F1-score of 0.93, indicating that this architecture has significant potential. © 2024 Copyright ACM.

Tourism is one of Indonesia's main economic drivers because it can absorb many workers and bring in foreign exchange through tourism activities. Research related to Smart Tourism Destinations (STDs) and the technology that supports them has gained popularity and has received special attention in the last ten years. STDs show that various technologies are applied to a tourist destination, one of which aims to increase added value for the surrounding community and tourists. This study employs the systematic literature review (SLR) method to investigate smart tourism destinations and governance topics. This research aims to identify and analyze the main components of Smart Tourism Destinations Governance. Two research questions were developed and incorporated into the search term. This research resulted in 24 research papers on smart tourism destinations and governance. The result of this study is a proposed IT Governance Model, which can be a guideline for tourism's DMOs (Destination Management Organizations), tourism enterprises, IT companies that support smart tourism concepts, and policymakers (government) to improve their service to society/community. The model can be used as a guide to governing the IT implementation in smart tourism destinations projects. Limitations of this study regarding the scalability of database and keyword usage and their methodologies. Theoretical implication for scholars in the next research is that research can be conducted on how to implement this model and whether this model can be easily adopted. This future work also regarding the IT Governance Maturity Model or the measurement of IT Gov readiness in smart tourism destinations. © 2022 IEEE.

Mixed reality is becoming more popular, and a lot of technology companies trying to develop and enhance mixed reality technology and using it not just in manufactures or industries but lately the technology is used for teaching and learning, either in school or for training purposes. While traditional teaching and learning processes are not effective anymore and most of the time, the learning objectives are not reached. This paper has an objective to point out the benefits of using mixed reality for teaching and learning. 99 articles have been collected and reviewed carefully as a quality assessment process, there are 41 articles has been selected for further review and top 5 benefits will be discussed. This review informs educators and scholars that there are common benefits, and the most popular benefit is better learning engagement. © 2021 IEEE.

Since the emergence of Pokémon Go in 2016, the world has been introduced to Augmented Reality (AR) games. Many IT companies have begun developing augmented reality (AR) games due to the great commercial potential in this industry. Certain products may have managed to remain viable in the market, while others were forced to close due to one or two factors. Since the emergence of Pokémon Go, no other game has managed to surpass its unprecedented success. The company responsible for developing Pokémon Go has decided to shut down one of their games due to a lack of consumer interest. The technology of augmented reality (AR) is consistently associated with the concept of immersion. Immersion is a key aspect of the game that allows users to deeply engage and feel fully involved in the experience. This study will employ a quantitative methodology, utilising a questionnaire that will be distributed to and completed by those who have engaged in augmented reality (AR) games. The data will be analysed using Smart PLS to examine the impact of user experience on immersion, which in turn influences intention. After gathering over 200 participants by spreading google form questionnaires and doing data analysis, the findings indicate that only a few aspects of user experience, namely Brand Experience and User Need Experience, have an impact on reasons. Niantic, the developer of Pokémon Go, was unable to replicate their success with a similar augmented reality game called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The initial release occurred on June 21, 2019, and the shutdown took place on December 21, 2021. In the beginning, they shown a profound enthusiasm for the game but were unable to sustain it, much as Pokémon Go. According to Niantic CEO John Hanke, the primary reason for the game's shutdown was its immersion. The increasing complexity of cyber attacks, including 0-day vulnerabilities and APTs, has rendered traditional defenses like firewalls and IDS/IPS insufficient. Honeypots have been proposed as a solution to detect and analyze new attack types by simulating vulnerable systems and capturing malicious activities. However, the deployment of honeypots introduces unique risks, necessitating a comprehensive threat modeling approach to mitigate potential drawbacks. This paper explores the intersection of threat modeling and honeypot deployment, identifying threats, and proposing effective mitigation strategies. We applied a threat model adapted from a simplified PASTA framework based on risk-centric and proposed mitigation plans such as network segmentation, outbound traffic filtering, resource monitoring, and regular updates. Additionally, we discussed alternative honeypot deployments outside the organization's internal network to avoid arising risks. We found that deploying high-interaction honeypots carries high risks due to a broader attack flow. The novelty of this study lies in adapting the attack-flow approach for honeypot threat modeling, providing a structured method to analyze and mitigate honeypot-specific threats. Future research directions include conducting long-term studies and detailed case studies to further optimize the interaction between honeypot deployments and threat modeling for enhanced security outcomes.

An IoT-Based Microservice Platform for Virtual Puppetry Performance

This study proposes a web-based real-time remote-controlled virtual puppetry (avatar) performance platform called AvatarTalk to combine traditional Taiwanese puppetry, the Internet of Things (IoT), and 3D avatar models. AvatarTalk enables puppeteers to control avatar puppets on the web using either motion capture gloves or camera-based image recognition. This transformative performance approach not only facilitates remote performances and multi-screen presentations across various devices but also introduces a fresh gesture interpretation technique for dance artists. AvatarTalk supports a mechanism that can accommodate new control and puppet devices from other approaches through the IoT-based microservice concept. We develop a calibration procedure to enable the accurate capture of hand gestures to manipulate the movements of virtual puppets, empowering them to perform fundamental traditional puppetry poses such as nodding, bowing, and synchronized hand movements. We have conducted experiments to show the accuracy of AvatarTalk calibration. Our study indicates that AvatarTalk can almost detect the right gestures (98.75%-100% recall) and very seldom mistake the wrong gestures (90.8%-100% precision). Additionally, we also provide the mechanism to measure the delays of controlling the puppets. An analytic model is proposed to design the delay times of the messages between the control device of a puppeteer and the AvatarTalk server. In the current AvatarTalk implementation, if the message delay does not exceed 0.1 seconds, four puppeteers can synchronize their actions if the elapsed time between two actions of a puppeteer is longer than 0.3 second. © 2013 IEEE.
