We discuss the effect of sequential error injection on information leakage under a network code. We formulate a network code for the single transmission setting and the multiple transmission setting. Under this formulation, we show that the eavesdropper cannot improve the power of eavesdropping by sequential error injection when the operations in the network are linear *** demonstrate the usefulness of this reduction theorem by applying a concrete example of network. Isolated linear carbon chains (LCCs) encapsulated by multiwalled carbon nanotubes are studied under hydrostatic pressure (P) via resonance Raman scattering. The LCCs’ spectroscopic signature C band around 1850 cm−1 softens linearly with increasing P. A simple anharmonic force-constant model not only describes such softening but also shows that the LCCs’ Young’s modulus (E), Grüneisen parameter (γ), and strain (ϵ) follow universal P−1 and P2 laws, respectively. In particular, γ also presents a unified behavior for all LCCs. To the best of our knowledge, these are the first results reported on such isolated systems and the first work to explore universal P-dependent responses for LCCs’ E, ϵ, and γ.

In distributed computing, it is common for a server to execute a program of a remote client, consuming the minimum amount of communication. We extend such a setting to the quantum regime and consider the task of communicating quantum channels for the purpose of executing them a given number of times. We derive a general lower bound for the amount of required communication. The bound shows that the amount of required communication is positively correlated to the performance of the channels in quantum metrology. Injuries to the cervical spinal cord represent around 60% of all spinal cord injuries (SCIs). A major priority for patients with cervical SCIs is the recovery of any hand or arm function. The similarities between human and rodent “reach-to-eat movements” indicate that analyzing mouse forelimb reaching behavior may be a method of identifying clinically relevant treatments for people with cervical SCIs. One popular behavioral measure of forelimb functional recovery comprises the Single Pellet Retrieval Task (SPRT). The most common outcome measure for this task, however (percentage of pellets successfully retrieved), cannot readily distinguish between recovery of pre-injury motor patterns and strategic compensation. Our objective was to establish outcome measures for the SPRT that are readily adopted by different investigators and capable of measuring recovery of limb function after SCI. We used a simple semi-automated approach to high-speed tracking of mouse forepaw movements during pellet retrieval. DeepLabCut™, a machine learning based computer vision software package, was used to track individual features of the mouse forepaw, allowing a more detailed assessment of reaching behavior after SCI. Interestingly, kinematic analysis of movements pre- and post-injury illuminated persistent deficits in specific features of the reaching motor patterns, namely pronation and paw trajectory, that were poorly correlated with recovery of the ability to successfully retrieve pellets. Thus, we have developed an inexpensive method for detailed analysis of mouse reach-to-eat behavior following SCI. Further, our results suggest that binary success/fail outcome measures primarily assess an animal's ability to compensate rather than a restoration of normal function in the injured pathways and networks. © 2022 Elsevier Inc.

The role of nonstoquasticity in the field of quantum annealing and adiabatic quantum computing is an actively debated topic. We study a strongly-frustrated quasi-one-dimensional quantum Ising model on a two-leg ladder to elucidate how a first-order phase transition with a topological origin is affected by interactions of the ±XX-type. Such interactions are sometimes known as stoquastic (negative sign) and nonstoquastic (positive sign) “catalysts”. Carrying out a symmetry-preserving real-space renormalization group analysis and extensive density-matrix renormalization group computations, we show that the phase diagrams obtained by these two methods are in qualitative agreement with each other and reveal that the first-order quantum phase transition of a topological nature remains stable against the introduction of both XX-type catalysts. This is the first study of the effects of nonstoquasticity on a first-order phase transition between topologically distinct phases. Our results indicate that nonstoquastic catalysts are generally insufficient for removing topological obstacles in quantum annealing and adiabatic quantum computing.

Any urgent diagnosis of pneumonia can be affected by a chest x-ray (CXR henceforth), which is one of the most common types of radiography. Artificial intelligence (AI) has been employed by most researchers for the automatic detection of the complicated patterns in imaging data and to provide quantitative analysis of radiographic properties as well. In recent years, many advances have taken place, namely in the computer vision domain. As a consequence, these advances enable the researchers to provide in-depth analysis and investigation, especially with the existence of thousands of samples of CXR images. CXR samples and techniques provide a huge support for the radiologists in making crucial decisions while examining hundreds of images from different perspectives. Moreover, time consumption will be reduced because the most urgent cases will be correctly identified in a short period of time. The current study will analyze ten of the well-known deep learning (DL)techniques that tackled identifying CXR images in relation to their actual diagnosis. Each technique will be briefly addressed regarding data preparation, methodology, and model design. Furthermore, the accuracy measure generated by each model will be compared to the dataset used. It is hoped that the current study will be a reliable resource for DL to strategies in depicting CXR images in the medical domain.

This paper proposed a method which detects a political buzzer in social media, specifically Instagram. With Indonesia undergoing 2019 presidential election, a detection of buzzers that causes much trouble in maintaining information neutrality is seen as a needed. One of the many reasons is because those buzzers spread false news making the information gained by the use of social media to be not neutral and deliberately offends or attack those that they are not in favor of. Those buzzers share a similar characteristic, tendency, or even possess the same pattern. Grouping, classification, and detection method are used to counter this problem. This research gives a slight overview of what is happening in social media and a theory of how to deal with those problems. The argument is expected to help to identify buzzer in real life, thus helps in maintaining information neutrality along with the social media in Indonesia.

This paper proposes an approach to verifying programs against context free properties. To this end, the system to be verified is modeled by a program m in Modeling, Simulation and Verification Language (MSVL), and the desired property is also specified by an MSVL program m'. Then program m and formula ¬m' are interpreted by means of executing programs m and m'. If an acceptable execution path is generated, a counterexample is found, otherwise the property is valid.
