Rapid development of the information technologies and methods has contributed to the advancement of financial stock analysis and prediction. This paper focuses on investigating Bank Mandiri stock sentiments from financial news data using web scraping and VADER sentiment analysis to obtain accurate news polarity scores. The dynamical alignment and changes between the resulting sentiment analysis and stock prices towards neutral, bullish and bearish stock movements can subsequently be identified and evaluated using Pearson's and Spearman's correlation coefficients for the model refinement. The research results over market conditions indicate that there are consistent alignment and direction between stock sentiments from the financial news and dynamical stock price changes. This work can provide some benefits and insight for the financial investors and stock traders in making a better decision. © 2024 IEEE.

Stock market trading is often thought to be a lucrative subject and in it, is predominantly occupied by the discussion of stock price prediction. Within it comes a multitude of theories pertaining to stock movement, while they seem irreconcilable an integrated model can be created to improve the accuracy of stock prediction as well as form a synthesis of said multitude. The paper focuses on finding the correlation that lies between the historical stock price of Bank Jago alongside economic indicators and news sentiments through implementing VADER sentiment analysis and regression models. The analysis and modelling data were collected in real-time through Yahoo Finance API and GDELT for the stock news. The analysis results indicate that Pearson and Spearman correlation coefficients between stock prices and news sentiments have low values or relationships due the fact that these methods only describe general statistical relationship on average. However, there are reasonably improvements in correlation coefficients when using rolling techniques and economic indicators. In other hand, the stock traders and investors prefer to obtain real-time predictions or indicators of low or high stock prices and the dynamical stock price directions. The latter is denoted by reasonably good dynamical alignments between stock prices and news sentiments through visual inspection of the chart. This research is highly recommended to continue for the next steps by integrating sentiment analysis and machine learning models for predicting stock prices. © 2024 IEEE.

Hybrelastic: a hybrid elasticity strategy with dynamic thresholds for microservice-based cloud applications

Microservices-based architectures aim to divide the application’s functionality into small services so that each one of them can be scaled, managed, implemented, and updated individually. Currently, more and more microservices are used in application modelling, making them compatible with resource elasticity. In the literature, solutions employ elasticity to improve application performance;however, most of them are based on CPU utilisation metrics and only on reactive elasticity. In this context, this article proposes the hybrelastic model, which combines reactive and proactive elasticity with dynamically calculated thresholds for CPU and network metrics. The article presents three contributions in the context of microservices: 1) combination of two elasticity policies;2) use of more than one elasticity evaluation metric;3) use of dynamic thresholds to trigger elasticity. Experiments with hybrelastic demonstrate 10.31% higher performance and 20.28% lower cost compared to other executions without hybrelastic. Copyright © 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

In Indonesia, mental health awareness is not as prominent as physical health, and many adolescents have experienced mental health problems. Some people hide their mental and emotional problems by appearing cheerful and peaceful, but research shows that body language and voice tone can reveal a person's inner psychological state. Similarly, handwriting can be analyzed through graphology to reveal personality traits such as honesty, emotional stability, and fears. Graphology is a time-consuming and expensive process, using image processing and machine learning, graphology can be done quickly without human bias. This research aims to predict the personality traits by implement image processing combined with machine learning to analyze handwriting features. Using lazy learner algorithm of K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm, SVM and Naïve Bayes, the application can predict the MBTI personality from handwriting image with an accuracy of 94%, 78%, and 93% respectively. From the experiment, it is shown that the application able to do the analysis of one's handwriting and then predict the personality traits, fully automated using a computer © 2023 IEEE.

Analysis of the Recognition of Facial Movements of App Designed for Rehabilitation of People with Facial Paralysis

Peripheral facial paralysis (PFP) causes deficits in muscle and sensory functions of the face due to damage to the facial nerve. In this study, we evaluated the effectiveness of the "Fisiobem" app in rehabilitating patients with PFP through facial mimicry exercises. The app uses the device’s camera to identify the user and measure the range of motion during the exercises, applying the ARKit framework to quantify the intensity of the movements. We conducted a usability study with 34 participants unaffected by PFP, performing mimics with different amplitudes. Results show that glasses did not affect recognition accuracy in exercises such as raising eyebrows, frowning, and closing the eyes tightly. As for wrinkling the nose exercise, glasses impacted higher intensities. As for the beard or mustache, lower lip protrusion, compressing the lips, smiling, showing teeth and blowing out filling cheeks were not affected. However, when smiling with lips together, beard and mustache influenced intensities above 75%. It is important to highlight that this study has limitations, such as the sample size and lack of consideration for ethnic diversity among participants. Future research with larger and more diverse samples is needed to validate and generalize these findings and explore the nuances of interactions between facial features and facial recognition algorithms. Despite these limitations, the approach facilitated by the "Fisiobem" application offers significant benefits, especially for patients with PFP who face challenges in accessing specialized therapists. It allows patients to complement their treatment by performing guided facial mimicry exercises at home. The application helps individuals accurately perform the exercises and effectively track the progress of their rehabilitation. © 2024 by the authors of this article.

Gaussian processes (GPs) are commonly used for geospatial analysis, but they suffer from high computational complexity when dealing with massive data. For instance, the log-likelihood function required in estimating the statistical model parameters for geospatial data is a computationally intensive procedure that involves computing the inverse of a covariance matrix with size n × n, where n represents the number of geographical locations in the simplest case. As a result, in the literature, studies have shifted towards approximation methods to handle larger values of n effectively while maintaining high accuracy. These methods encompass a range of techniques, including low-rank and sparse approximations. Among these techniques, Vecchia approximation is one of the most promising methods to speed up evaluating the log-likelihood function. This study presents a parallel implementation of the Vecchia approximation technique, utilizing batched matrix computations on contemporary GPUs. The proposed implementation relies on batched linear algebra routines to efficiently execute individual conditional distributions in the Vecchia algorithm. We rely on the KBLAS linear algebra library to perform batched linear algebra operations, reducing the time to solution compared to the state-of-the-art parallel implementation of the likelihood estimation operation in the ExaGeoStat software by up to 700X, 833X, 1380X on 32GB GV100, 80GB A100, and 80GB H100 GPUs, respectively, with the largest matrix dimension that can fully fit into the GPU memory in the dense Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) case. We also successfully manage larger problem sizes on a single NVIDIA GPU, accommodating up to 1 million locations with 80GB A100 and H100 GPUs while maintaining the necessary application accuracy. We further assess the accuracy performance of the implemented algorithm, identifying the optimal settings for the Vecchia approximation algorithm to preserve accuracy on two real geospatial datas

Invisibility in Ubiquitous computing (UbiComp) and Internet of Things (IoT) systems refers to the merge of technology in the environment or the interaction workload decrease so that users can focus on their daily activities. It has been a fundamental attribute for these systems since the UbiComp advent and has received different names and definitions over time. However, there is a lack of retrospective studies investigating how these perspectives contributed to the current concept of Invisibility. Therefore, this paper aims to understand how Invisibility evolved as a quality-in-use attribute. We applied the snowballing method to search for literature evidence about the attributes and interaction evaluation approaches related to Invisibility. We identified eight related attributes: Intelligibility, Accuracy, Control, Customization, Non-obtrusiveness, Diffusion, Transparency, and Understandability. Also, we observed that the existing evaluation approaches consider only part of these attributes. Our findings suggest opportunities to improve the approaches and for future research. © 2022 ACM.

Protein structure prediction in three dimensions represents a fundamental challenge in Structural Bioinformatics. Leveraging problem-specific information such as fragment insertion, secondary structure, and contact maps can significantly enhance the exploration of the search space. In this study, an evolutionary algorithm is introduced, which incorporates such problem information for protein structure prediction. The proposed method employs a dynamic speciation technique alongside fragment insertion to foster population diversity. To ensure a rich variety of fragments, a fragment library is constructed using the Rosetta Quota protocol. Additionally, information from contact maps and secondary structure is integrated into two selection strategies to facilitate a more thorough exploration of the conformational search space. The results of an experimental evaluation involving 9 proteins are presented, demonstrating competitive performance compared to existing literature. Evaluation metrics include RMSD, GDT, and processing time. © 2024 IEEE.

Fixed-wing aerial vehicles are equipped with functional-ities such as ILS (instrument landing system), PAR (precision approach radar) and, DGPS (differential global positioning system), enabling fully automated landings. How-ever, these systems impose significant costs on airport op-erations due to high installation and maintenance requirements. Moreover, since these navigation parameters come from ground or satellite signals, they are vulnerable to in-terference. A more cost-effective and independent alternative for guiding landing is a vision-based system that de-tects the runway and aligns the aircraft, reducing the pi-lot's cognitive load. This paper proposes a novel frame-work that addresses three key challenges in developing au-tonomous vision-based landing systems. Firstly, to over-come the lack of aerial front-view video data, we created high-quality videos simulating landing approaches through the generator code available in the LARD (landing approach runway detection dataset) repository. Secondly, in contrast to former studies focusing on object detection for finding the runway, we chose the state-of-the-art model Lo-RAT to track runways within bounding boxes in each video frame. Thirdly, to align the aircraft with the designated landing runway, we extract runway keypoints from the re-sulting LoRAT frames and estimate the camera relative pose via the Perspective-n-Point algorithm. Our experimental re-sults over a dataset of generated videos and original images from the LARD dataset consistently demonstrate the proposed framework's highly accurate tracking and alignment capabilities.
