Schizophrenia (SZ) is a prevalent mental disorder characterized by cognitive, emotional, and behavioral changes. Symptoms of SZ include hallucinations, illusions, delusions, lack of motivation, and difficulties in concentration. While the exact causes of SZ remain unproven, factors such as brain injuries, stress, and psychotropic drugs have been implicated in its development. SZ can be classified into different types, including paranoid, disorganized, catatonic, undifferentiated, and residual. Diagnosing SZ involves employing various tools, including clinical interviews, physical examinations, psychological evaluations, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), and neuroimaging techniques. Electroencephalography (EEG) recording is a significant functional neuroimaging modality that provides valuable insights into brain function during SZ. However, EEG signal analysis poses challenges for neurologists and scientists due to the presence of artifacts, long-term recordings, and the utilization of multiple channels. To address these challenges, researchers have introduced artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, encompassing conventional machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) methods, to aid in SZ diagnosis. This study reviews papers focused on SZ diagnosis utilizing EEG signals and AI methods. The introduction section provides a comprehensive explanation of SZ diagnosis methods and intervention techniques. Subsequently, review papers in this field are discussed, followed by an introduction to the AI methods employed for SZ diagnosis and a summary of relevant papers presented in tabular form. Additionally, this study reports on the most significant challenges encountered in SZ diagnosis, as identified through a review of papers in this field. Future directions to overcome these challenges are also addressed. The discussion section examines the specific details of each paper, culminating in the presentation of conclusions and findings. © 2023,

In recent years, the GAA NS Si MOSFET has been explored as a leading technology. However, the intrinsic parameters of GAA NS Si MOSFETs are affected to varying degrees by various fluctuation sources, Statistically independent and identically distributed $(iid)$ assumptions on the aforementioned random variables overestimate the variability of high-frequency characteristics, compared with considering all fluctuation factors simultaneously. Notably, the random nanosized metal grains dominates the variations of voltage gain, cut-off frequency, and 3dB frequency because the random work functions strongly alter the channel surface potential.

Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness, affecting millions of people worldwide. It is a chronic eye condition that damages the optic nerve and, if left untreated, can lead to vision loss and a decreased quality of life. Therefore, there is a need to explore practical and reliable mechanisms for glaucoma identification. This study systematically reviews deep-learning approaches for glaucoma identification using retinal fundus images from 2018 to 2024. Compared to existing survey studies, we cover the latest research, including several public retinal fundus image datasets, and focus on segmentation, classification based on convolutional neural networks and vision transformers, and explainability. The findings of this study, including comparisons of existing methods and key insights, will assist researchers and developers in identifying the most suitable techniques for glaucoma detection. © 2025 The Authors

Optimizing Hammerstein-Wiener Model for Forecasting Confirmed Cases of Covid-19

Noise poses challenge to nonlinear Hammerstein-Wiener (HW) subsystem model application, because HW subsystem need large number of parameter interactions. However, flexibility, soft computing, and automatic adjustment to dynamic observation for best model fitting make it potential for forecasting nonlinear data. In this article, we adopted improved HW inference from Levenberg-Marquardt optimization algorithm to optimize HW subsystem and to select best model parameters. Therefore, the adopted model is tested on COVID-19 confirmed reported cases, to estimate transmission rate of COVID-19 virus for period from 15th March 2020 to 29th April 2020. Model validation is carried out on small dataset, which outperforms some existing models. The adopted model is further evaluated using statistical metrics and reported best accuracy of 0.127 and 0.998 for Mean Absolute percentage error (MAPE) and coefficient of determination (R2) respectively, with best model complexity of 1.86. The obtained results are promising enough in predicting spread of COVID-19 virus and may inspire as guidance to relax lockdown restriction policies. © 2022, IAENG International Journal of Applied Mathematics. When predicting PM2.5 concentrations, it is necessary to consider complex information sources since the concentrations are influenced by various factors within a long period. In this paper, we identify a set of critical domain knowledge for PM2.5 forecasting and develop a novel graph based model, PM2.5-GNN, being capable of capturing long-term dependencies. On a real-world dataset, we validate the effectiveness of the proposed model and examine its abilities of capturing both fine-grained and long-term influences in PM2.5 process. The proposed PM2.5-GNN has also been deployed online to provide free forecasting service. © 2020 Owner/Author.

In this paper, an approach to aid in introductory programming courses is presented, focused on students that had never had any contact with computer programming. The approach, that was introduced in a previous paper [3], presents programming concepts using icons and “flowcharts”, and a 3D robotics simulator (CoppeliaSim), that has free educational use. This time, a real version of the simulated robot, built using Arduino and cheap, easily obtainable electronic components, is also presented. The programs to control the robot are developed by graphically constructing flowcharts on the visual editor, and then following the execution of programs using the simulated (or real) robot, step by step. This graphic program editor is named “FluxProg”, and its 2nd version is now available online, with new features comprising variables, arithmetic and logic expressions, thus providing a complete programming environment.

This paper presents an overview of published works related to dedicated hardware designs for the recent AV1 codec and the H.266/VVC video coding standard. We describe the main coding tools comparing them between AV1 and H.266/VVC codecs to highlight the new algorithms and techniques employed to improve coding efficiency. Then, we present the main published works proposing FPGA/ASIC hardware designs for AV1 and H.266/VVC. It is possible to observe that most of the published works focus on the challenge of implementing the new coding tools of both codecs to attend high throughput demands, such as real-time processing of 1080p, UHD 4K and UHD 8K resolutions.

This study aims to address the common issue of biased estimation errors in time series modeling by analyzing the error in locating ideal hyperparameters and defining appropriate validation methods. Specifically, it focuses on predicting the stock price of Bank Rakyat Indonesia using a combination of historical stock prices, technical indicators, exchange rates, and news sentiment data, while determining the optimal variables for deep learning models. Employing a deep learning-based Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) model, the study optimizes hyperparameters alongside walk-forward validation for time series prediction. It explores different combinations of variables and adapts the sliding window approach to the context of the data. The results highlight the importance of optimizing hyperparameters and utilizing walk-forward validation for accurate time series prediction. The model incorporating historical stock prices and sentiment scores outperforms others, achieving an RMSE of 96.61 and MAE of 86.97. Incorporating sentiment scores reduces RMSE by 39.55 % compared to models using only historical stock prices, while adding technical indicators does not yield improvement. This study contributes to the field by addressing the issue of biased estimation errors in time series modeling, offering insights into the optimization of hyperparameters and validation methods for accurate predictions. It also underscores the significance of incorporating sentiment analysis alongside historical stock prices for improved forecasting accuracy. © 2024 The Authors
