The classical Perceptron algorithm of Rosenblatt can be used to find a linear threshold function to correctly classify n linearly separable data points, assuming the classes are separated by some margin γ > 0. A foundational result is that Perceptron converges after O(1/γ2) iterations. There have been several recent works that managed to improve this rate by a quadratic factor, to O(√log n/γ), with more sophisticated algorithms. In this paper, we unify these existing results under one framework by showing that they can all be described through the lens of solving min-max problems using modern acceleration techniques, mainly through optimistic online learning. We then show that the proposed framework also leads to improved results for a series of problems beyond the standard Perceptron setting. Specifically, a) for the margin maximization problem, we improve the state-of-the-art result from O(log t/t2) to O(1/t2), where t is the number of iterations;b) we provide the first result on identifying the implicit bias property of the classical Nesterov's accelerated gradient descent (NAG) algorithm, and show NAG can maximize the margin with an O(1/t2) rate;c) for the classical p-norm Perceptron problem, we provide an algorithm with (equation presented) convergence rate, while existing algorithms suffer the (equation presented) convergence rate. © 2023 11th International Conference on Learning Representations, ICLR 2023. In a wireless power system, the design of coils plays a crucial job in power transfer. The effectiveness of the coupler depends on shape, size, coupling coefficient, mutual inductance, and the distance between the couplers. This paper presents an innovative coil structure for Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems, with a 3D model developed in Ansys Maxwell. The study focuses on evaluating key performance metrics, specifically the coupling coefficient (k) and Mutual inductance (M). Comparative analysis against existing coil designs, such as circular, square, Square with auxiliary, DD, and DD with auxiliary configurations, demonstrates that the proposed coil structure outperforms its counterparts in terms of both coupling coefficients despite having similar dimensions and turn counts. These findings signify the potential for significantly improved WPT system coupling Coefficient and effectiveness with the adoption of this novel coil structure. © 2023 IEEE.

The rising incidents of brain tumors pose significant challenges in diagnosis and treatment. Tumorous brain cancers present unique difficulties due to their critical locations and functional implications. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) offers safe and precise imaging, free from the risks associated with radiation-based methods. Deep learning, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), has emerged as a valuable tool in identifying brain tumors in MRI scans, enabling more accurate diagnoses by fusing two well-known DL models. This study explores a fusion strategy combining AlexNet and VGG16 models, outperforming individual models trained with different learning rates. While VGG16 and AlexNet achieved accuracies of 79% and 77% respectively. Our fusion approach potentially achieved an accuracy of 81%, underscoring its efficacy in enhancing brain tumor classification accuracy. This study helps medical professionals to accurately and timely classify tumors for better outcomes for patients. © 2024 IEEE.

researchers are working hard to face various challenges in the fast-moving field of network security and data exchange. When it comes to encryption techniques, efforts vary to address multiple issues such as computational speed, data size requirements, application scope, etc. that are driven by the purposes of collecting and sharing sensitive data that must be stored and processed securely. This paper proposes an efficient asymmetric cryptosystem that bases on the multiplication of plaintext by a variable public key. The origin of this key is constant, but for each encryption, a random number must be added to it. Therefore, a new public key each time is generated;in other words, a simulation of a one-time pad system. For each message, the sender generates a new secret twin of the public key;The receiver can decrypt all messages encrypted by different twins with a single private key. The proposed probabilistic scheme is linear coding and hence is lightweight, easy to execute, and practical in many areas. We consider the cloud to be an untrusted part that tries to disclose data when decoded by systems, the proposed method provides the additive homomorphic property and ensures data integrity when a homomorphic operation is performed by the cloud;thus, we realize verifiable partial homomorphic encryption. © 2023 IEEE.

The availability of pulmonary nodules in CT scan image of lung does not completely specify *** noise in an image and morphology of nodules,like shape and size has an implicit and complex association with cancer,and thus,a careful analysis should be mandatory on every suspected nodules and the combination of information of every *** this paper,we introduce a“denoising first”two-path convolutional neural network(DFD-Net)to address this *** introduced model is composed of denoising and detection part in an end to end ***,a residual learning denoising model(DR-Net)is employed to remove noise during the preprocessing ***,a two-path convolutional neural network which takes the denoised image by DR-Net as an input to detect lung cancer is *** two paths focus on the joint integration of local and global *** this end,each path employs different receptive field size which aids to model local and global *** further polish our model performance,in different way from the conventional feature concatenation approaches which directly concatenate two sets of features from different CNN layers,we introduce discriminant correlation analysis to concatenate more representative ***,we also propose a retraining technique that allows us to overcome difficulties associated to the image labels *** found that this type of model easily first reduce noise in an image,balances the receptive field size effect,affords more representative features,and easily adaptable to the inconsistency among nodule shape and *** intensive experimental results achieved competitive results.

An Escort and Defense Scenario is presented in which a high-value Target maneuvers through a high-risk region while being escorted by a mobile, defensive agent. Along this trajectory, an Attacker may be launched from one of several possible launch locations. If a launch occurs, the three agents play out a Target-Attacker-Defender (TAD) differential game in which the Defender attempts to intercept the Attacker at maximal distance from the Target while the Attacker strives to maneuver as close as possible to the Target. Prior to launch, the Target and Defender strive to preposition themselves in advantageous positions to effectively respond to a potential threat while simultaneously moving towards a safety region. An augmented collocation-based direct optimal control method is developed to solve the escort problem by solving and utilizing the value of the TAD differential subgame at each collocation point while simultaneously optimizing the primary optimal control problem. © 2024 IEEE.

Directional emission of a readout resonator for qubit measurement

We propose and demonstrate transmission-based dispersive readout of a superconducting qubit using an all-pass resonator, which preferentially emits readout photons toward the output. This is in contrast to typical readout schemes, which intentionally mismatch the feedline at one end so that the readout signal preferentially decays toward the output. We show that this intentional mismatch creates scaling challenges, including larger spread of effective resonator linewidths due to nonideal impedance environments and added infrastructure for impedance matching. A future architecture using multiplexed all-pass readout resonators would avoid the need for intentional mismatch and potentially improve the scaling prospects of quantum computers. As a proof-of-concept demonstration of “all-pass readout,” we design and fabricate an all-pass readout resonator that demonstrates insertion loss below 1.17 dB at the readout frequency and a maximum insertion loss of 1.53 dB across its full bandwidth for the lowest three states of a transmon qubit. We demonstrate qubit readout with an average single-shot fidelity of 98.1% in 600 ns; to assess the effect of larger dispersive shift, we implement a shelving protocol and achieve a fidelity of 99.0% in 300 ns.

Aerial scene recognition(ASR)has attracted great attention due to its increasingly essential *** of the ASR methods adopt the multi‐scale architecture because both global and local features play great roles in ***,the existing multi‐scale methods neglect the effective interactions among different scales and various spatial locations when fusing global and local features,leading to a limited ability to deal with challenges of large‐scale variation and complex background in aerial scene *** addition,existing methods may suffer from poor generalisations due to millions of to‐belearnt parameters and inconsistent predictions between global and local *** tackle these problems,this study proposes a scale‐wise interaction fusion and knowledge distillation(SIF‐KD)network for learning robust and discriminative features with scaleinvariance and background‐independent *** main highlights of this study include two *** the one hand,a global‐local features collaborative learning scheme is devised for extracting scale‐invariance features so as to tackle the large‐scale variation problem in aerial scene ***,a plug‐and‐play multi‐scale context attention fusion module is proposed for collaboratively fusing the context information between global and local *** the other hand,a scale‐wise knowledge distillation scheme is proposed to produce more consistent predictions by distilling the predictive distribution between different scales during *** experimental results show the proposed SIF‐KD network achieves the best overall accuracy with 99.68%,98.74%and 95.47%on the UCM,AID and NWPU‐RESISC45 datasets,respectively,compared with state of the arts.
