BigNeuron is an open community bench-testing platform with the goal of setting open standards for accurate and fast automatic neuron tracing. We gathered a diverse set of image volumes across several species that is representative of the data obtained in many neuroscience laboratories interested in neuron tracing. Here, we report generated gold standard manual annotations for a subset of the available imaging datasets and quantified tracing quality for 35 automatic tracing algorithms. The goal of generating such a hand-curated diverse dataset is to advance the development of tracing algorithms and enable generalizable benchmarking. Together with image quality features, we pooled the data in an interactive web application that enables users and developers to perform principal component analysis, t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding, correlation and clustering, visualization of imaging and tracing data, and benchmarking of automatic tracing algorithms in user-defined data subsets. The image quality metrics explain most of the variance in the data, followed by neuromorphological features related to neuron size. We observed that diverse algorithms can provide complementary information to obtain accurate results and developed a method to iteratively combine methods and generate consensus reconstructions. The consensus trees obtained provide estimates of the neuron structure ground truth that typically outperform single algorithms in noisy datasets. However, specific algorithms may outperform the consensus tree strategy in specific imaging conditions. Finally, to aid users in predicting the most accurate automatic tracing results without manual annotations for comparison, we used support vector machine regression to predict reconstruction quality given an image volume and a set of automatic tracings.

GRB 221009A is the brightest gamma-ray burst ever detected since the discovery of this kind of energetic explosions. However, an accurate measurement of the prompt emission properties of this burst is very challenging due to its exceptional brightness. With joint observations of Insight-HXMT and GECAM-C, we made an unprecedentedly accurate measurement of the emission during the first ∼1800 s of GRB 221009A, including its precursor, main emission (ME, which dominates the burst in flux), flaring emission and early afterglow, in the hard X-ray to soft gamma-ray band from ∼ 10 keV to ∼ 6 MeV. Based on the GECAM-C unsaturated data of the ME, we measure a record-breaking isotropic equivalent energy (Eiso) of ∼ 1.5 × 1055 erg, which is about eight times the total rest-mass energy of the Sun. The early afterglow data require a significant jet break between 650 s and 1100 s, most likely at ∼ 950 s from the afterglow starting time TAG, which corresponds to a jet opening angle of ∼ 0.7◦ (ηγn)1/8, where n is the ambient medium density in units of cm−3 and ηγ is the ratio between γ-ray energy and afterglow kinetic energy. The beaming-corrected total γ-ray energy Eγ is ∼ 1.15 × 1051 (ηγn)1/4 erg, which is typical for long GRBs. These results suggest that this GRB may have a special central engine, which could launch and collimate a very narrowly beamed jet with an ordinary energy budget, leading to exceptionally luminous gamma-ray radiation per unit solid angle. Alternatively, more GRBs might have such a narrow and bright beam, which are missed by an unfavorable viewing angle or have been detected without distance measurement. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. The online video streaming service is of huge market values with billions of worldwide users. For online video providers, e.g., Net-flix, Youku, the crucial question is how to understand users' view behaviors and preferences because this knowledge is important for their business operation. Existing solutions mainly rely on analyzing users' historical view records, which however are not always available, especially for new videos and unprovided videos. Different from existing solutions, we propose to infer user behaviors and preferences by jointly analyzing data collected from multiple platforms (e.g., video streaming systems, video databases, etc.). In particular, we use the movie data crawled from a leading video streaming system (i.e., Youku), and a well-known video database in China (i.e, Douban) for this study. Our investigation points out that movie quality (evaluated in terms of Douban scores) and release date jointly influence viewers' preferences. In addition, we reveal a series of user behaviors, e.g., users are reluctant to post comments or ratings for movies they do not like, and user eyeballs are heavily captured by new movies. Understanding of these user behaviors covered by this study is essential for video recommendation and video popularity prediction which can benefit video procurement and advertisement campaign. © 2017 ACM.

Parallel and high performance computing experts are obsessed with performance and scalability. Performance analysis and tuning are important and complex but there are a number of software tools to support this. One methodology is the detailed recording of parallel runtime behavior in event traces and their subsequent analysis. This regularly produces very large data sets with their own challenges for handling and data management. This paper evaluates the utilization of the MASi research data management service as a trace repository to store, manage, and find traces in an efficient and usable way. First, we give an introduction to trace technologies in general, metadata in OTF2 traces specifically, and the MASi research data management service. Then, the trace repository is described with its potential for both performance analysts and parallel tool developers, followed with how we implemented it using existing metadata and how it can utilized. Finally, we give an outlook on how we plan to put the repository into productive use for the benefit of researchers using traces.

We propose two simple and effective spiking neuron models to improve the response time of the conventional spiking neural network. The proposed neuron models adaptively tune the presynaptic input current depending on the input received from its presynapses and subsequent neuron firing events. We analyze and derive the firing activity homeostatic convergence of the proposed models. We experimentally verify and compare the models on MNIST handwritten digits and FashionMNIST classification tasks. With the astronomical growth of online video population, the video recommendation system is crucial for users to locate videos fitting their interests. The collaborative filtering (CF) realizing personalized recommendation by analyzing users' historical view records is currently the most prevalent algorithm adopted by existing systems. Nevertheless, video recommendation performance can be improved for most cases, particularly the one with cold-start problem, if additional information is involved. In this article, we propose an AP-based Context-Aware (APCA) recommendation scheme on top of the traditional factor-based CF algorithm by utilizing the information of access points which has not been explored yet by existing works. The underlying principle is that users' view preferences are expected to be different with different contexts, e.g., hotel, home, public areas, which can be inferred by mining the information of access points via which users launch video requests. With the data collected from Tencent Video, a leading online video provider in China, we present a measurement study to show user view preferences in different contexts before our APCA algorithm is introduced. Experiments are executed driven by the trace data collected from Tencent Video to validate the effectiveness of our scheme in improving recommendation performance. © 2017 ACM.

Most of previous video recording devices in mobile vehicles commonly store captured video contents locally. With the rapid development of 4G/Wi Fi networks, there emerges a new trend to equip video recording devices with wireless interfaces to enable video uploading to the cloud for video playback in a later time point. In this paper, we propose a QoE-aware mobile cloud video recording scheme in the roadside vehicular networks, which can adaptively select the proper wireless interface and video bitrate for video uploading to the cloud. To maximize the total utility, we need to design a control strategy to carefully balance the transmission cost and the achieved QoE for users. To this purpose, we investigate the tradeoff between cost incurred by uploading through cellular networks and the achieved QoE of users. We apply the optimization framework to solve the formulated problem and design an online scheduling algorithm. We also conduct extensive trace-driven simulations and our results show that our algorithm achieves a good balance between the transmission cost and user QoE.

In 3D models retrieval, feature description and retrieval of non-rigid model face more complex problems due to the isometry transformation of itself. We introduce the hierarchical combination matching into the feature comparison, and build a map between the divided regions of two models, and then achieve accurate feature matching based on patch-by-patch, which successfully introduces the spatial information into feature matching. Verified by experiment, the 3D model retrieval method proposed in this paper based on hierarchical combination matching can make sure more accurate feature matching, so as to enhance the precision of retrieval.

With the development of information technology, the application of big data in financial aspects becomes more and more deepening. However, in the aspect of bank loans, the accuracy of traditional user loan risk prediction models, such as KNN, Bayesian, are not benefit from the data *** paper proposes to use DNN algorithm to forecast the risk of user loan based on the difficulties of current overdue prediction and the excellent learning ability of DNN. This article uses user basic information, bank records, user browsing behavior, credit card billing records, and loan time information to evaluate whether users are delinquent. Firstly, this paper record bank records according to the transaction type, respectively, to generate income and spending data. Secondly, to sum the user browsing behavior also, and to record the average of credit card bill. In addition, in order to reduce the effect of eigenvalue size on the result, all characteristics are standardized. Finally, users who lack user information are discarded and the above fields are spliced. The spliced fields are the basic input for DNN. From the experimental results, DNN algorithm inc rease over 6% prediction than kNN, Bayes algorithm.
