Within Quantum Software Engineering, the development of hybrid classical-quantum applications is an active research topic. Concretely, there is a focus on the usage of microservices architectures to offer quantum functionalities through classical service gateways. However, while there are methodologies and tools to automatically determine the best deployment for classical applications, this is not the case for hybrid applications, which are especially complicated to deploy due to their specific quantum-requirements. In this paper, we propose Cost Minimizer, a tool to determine the most cost-effective classical and quantum machines to deploy hybrid microservice-based applications. We believe Cost Minimizer will be a step towards achieving a better interaction between classical and quantum computing systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Quantum computing is still in its early stages, and developers used to high-level tools are encountering difficulties in developing hybrid classical-quantum systems. This has created the need for the adaptation of classical tools or the development of new tools to approach the quantum world and enable more efficient development. Quantum computers are accessed through cloud providers, which has led to the use of Service-Oriented Architectures. Although there are currently tools and standards available for improving the development of classical services, they need to be adapted for quantum services. In this work, we propose the adaptation of classic tools to be used in the development of hybrid systems, extending classic specifications such as OpenAPI and AsyncAPI to offer developers a set of tools closer to the environment they are used to. The provided implementation is focused on Amazon Braket as the quantum computing service provider. © 2023 IEEE.

The current world is a globalized and connected one. Even without moving around, a person interacts with personnel from different institutions treating him as a patient in their daily life. Each of these institutions keeps their patients’ data stored in their own information system, in an isolated way. Due to this, each patient has their data scattered among all these institutions and services with which she interacts along her life. This can complicate the take of the proper decision when the patient is under treatment. To solve this situation, new patient-centered health systems have been proposed as a replacement to the actual institution-centered ones, storing all health information of a patient into a unique global vision. However, some questions have arisen around the actual proposals, as who should store and maintain this vision of a given patient, and how should this information be made available for other systems. The proposal presented in this paper advocate for the achievement of a Personal Health Trajectory that can be useful both for patients and health professionals, using the concept of blockchains’ federation. The proposal has been validated using 5689 records from 50 different institutions, belonging to 1156 actors.

The rapid advancements in quantum computing have opened new possibilities for solving complex problems in various fields, including cryptography, optimization, and simulation. However, the current approaches to quantum computing often require a deep understanding of quantum hardware and low-level programming languages, making it difficult for software developers to create and deploy quantum services. This paper argues for the adaptation of Service-Oriented computing principles to quantum computing, enabling a level of abstraction from hardware that allows developers to focus on application development. This will allow developers to create and deploy quantum services, similarly to how Service-Oriented computing has made it easier to develop traditional software services. This paper presents a Continuous Deployment approach for quantum service development, which involves the generation and deployment of quantum services. To do that, we propose an extension of the OpenAPI specification to generate services implementing a quantum algorithm. To validate the feasibility of the proposed process, we use a variety of quantum algorithm implementations to test their generation and deployment of quantum services.

The world's population is showing an aging trend. So much so that this will become one of the most significant social transformations of the 21st century. Its consequences affect almost all sectors of society, from the labor and financial markets to family structures and tourism. There is no doubt that this demographic change is a major challenge, but also an opportunity that seeks to take advantage of this new market niche, the so-called Silver Economy. In this line, the tourism sector has to adapt its offer to the Silver Economy, and more specifically to the Silver Tourists, by offering an aging-friendly offer adapted to the environment and taking advantage of new technologies. Today, one of the best ways to access updated tourist information is through chatbots and voice assistants that can offer a new intelligent interface that has all the tourist offers updated in real-time. However, there are large rural areas where there is no Internet connectivity. This circumstance limits tourists' access to the Internet and, consequently, to all information. In order to favor the access to tourist information and associated services to this new target of tourists, this work aims to carry out research tasks with the purpose of designing a new technological solution based on voice assistants without Internet connection that allows providing all the relevant tourist information in an updated way to the tourists in question. © 2023 ITMA.

Healthcare delivery transformations and the use of connected health devices are paving the way to a paradigm shift from current healthcare systems towards patient-centered systems. Many proposals successfully reorient health information systems so that data are still distributed among the institutions and services that generate them, while being accessed jointly from a single point of view per patient. However, this means that control over the operations involving this data is lost. Mechanisms to maintain the traceability of health data are needed. This will enable the verification of the integrity of the records and will provide assurances that they have not been compromised. This problem has already been addressed in other domains such as food supply chains, where traceability allows to know all interactions with a food supply from the time it is produced until it is consumed. This paper proposes a blockchain solution to achieve the traceability of health data in patient-centered distributed environments. To validate this proposal, a case study involving 50 sociosanitary institutions in Portugal have been chosen. Different performance tests have been conducted to demonstrate the suitability, feasibility and scalability of our proposal.

Early advances in the field of quantum computing have provided new opportunities to tackle intricate problems in areas as diverse as mathematics, physics, or healthcare. However, the technology required to construct such systems where different pieces of quantum and classical software collaborate is currently lacking. For this reason, significant advancements in quantum service-oriented computing are necessary to enable developers to create and operate quantum services and microservices comparable to their classical counterparts. Therefore, the core objective of this work is to establish the necessary technological infrastructure that enables the application of the benefits and lessons learned from service-oriented computing to the domain of quantum software engineering. To this end, we propose a pipeline for the continuous deployment of services. Additionally, we have validated the proposal by making use of a modification of the OpenAPI specification, the GitHub Actions, and AWS. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
