We present a new open-source framework, SynopFrame, that allows DNA nanotechnology (DNA-nano) experts to analyze and understand molecular dynamics simulation trajectories of their designs. In the framework, we make use of a continuous time-plus3D-spatial abstraction space and connect the representations to a principal component analysis (PCA) plot of the structure’s temporal sequence as used traditionally in the domain. With our new way of representing DNA-nano data, we enable experts to analyze the dynamics of their structural designs and prevent failures that were previously not visible in conventional visual representations. In addition, our time-dependent abstraction representation allows the biologists, for the first time in a smooth and structurally clear way, to identify and observe transitions of a DNA-nano design from one configuration to another, and to highlight important periods of the simulation for further analysis. To realize SynopFrame we create a dashboard of the different visual representations, with a color overlay to show essential properties such as the status of hydrogen bonds, as a series of synchronized 3D spatial and 2D schematic views that are connected to the PCA plot. In addition, all spatial, schematic, and abstract views remain linked such that synchronized highlighting allows viewers to tackle the challenging clutter and occlusion problems that arise due to the large structure with its high-frequency motion. We also categorize the status of the hydrogen bonds into a new format to allow us to color-encode it and overlay it on the representations. To demonstrate the utility of SynopFrame, we describe example usage scenarios and report user feedback. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A home helper is in high demand these days because it relieves the stress of doing household chores. Home helpers are usually self-employed and work part-time in their clients' homes. Be that as it may, having domestic helper departments within the nearby local area is annoying since residents, in general, have no foggy idea of when or how to contact the person providing these types of help. Examples of departments that could be offered include escort departments, garden maintenance, dinner planning, pet grooming, assistance with family tasks, or even friendship for the elderly. It is clear that there is a gap between the specialized household cooperatives and the neighboring local area that requested the departments. Usually, individuals introducing departments present their administrations by using flyers or bypassing their phone numbers to individuals. This is definitely not an accurate display system because the dispersion of the data is limited to just a small aggregation of the surrounding local area. Going forward, I-HomeHelper acts as a unique stage for people to bring their department to an end through openness who are asking their departments to take advantage of current developments in Global Positioning Systems (GPS) with Industry Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0). I-HomeHelper authorizes to make an orderly reservation for the necessary departments and also fills as a stage for the advancement of the various departments accessible. The finer details of departments that include costs, name of home partners, and contact numbers are likewise shown on the advanced page so that the general community can choose which departments meet their models. This app is expected to create an ecosystem for holistic critical development for these freelance people and benefit an audience that really needs help with family chores or home maintenance. © 2021 IEEE.

Is Score Matching Suitable for Estimating Point Processes?

Score matching estimators have gained widespread attention in recent years partly because they are free from calculating the integral of normalizing constant, thereby addressing the computational challenges in maximum likelihood estimation (MLE). Some existing works have proposed score matching estimators for point processes. However, this work demonstrates that the incompleteness of the estimators proposed in those works renders them applicable only to specific problems, and they fail for more general point processes. To address this issue, this work introduces the weighted score matching estimator to point processes. Theoretically, we prove the consistency of our estimator and establish its rate of convergence. Experimental results indicate that our estimator accurately estimates model parameters on synthetic data and yields results consistent with MLE on real data. Over the past decade, a noticeable increase in literature can be seen in wearable foot interfaces, which have evolved from activity tracking to enhancing human capabilities. Our legs, being the largest body limbs, play an essential role in various functions such as locomotion, maintaining balance, supporting proper posture and providing ground-contact using our feet. Hence, foot augmentations offer the opportunity to augment our entire body. However, most prior research focuses on specific application areas, thus affording a research agenda to further understand the full potential of feet in designing augmentations and to contextualize it in the broader human augmentation space. To achieve this, in this workshop, we invite researchers, designers, and practitioners, novice and expert, interested in designing human and foot augmentations. We will discuss how early foot interfaces helped in augmenting humans, and based on current work and trends in foot augmentation, we will formulate strategies for the next steps and discuss the applicability of such strategies in the broader space of human augmentation. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

With advances in technology, firefighters and incident command are now equipped with various types of sensors, communication devices, and displays to improve their safety and working efficiency at fire scenes. However, since the diversity of information sources and data volume are high, a platform for information aggregation and sharing is needed. In this paper, we describe the platform that we design to assist the firefighters at the scenes. We focus on information sharing and prioritization problems to support decision making by incident command and improve firefighter safety under dangerous scenarios. We use simulation to show the decreases in communication bandwidth brought by our system. The proposed system has the potential to improve working environment safety and living wellness of firefighters.

Cloud computing is a broad term that can be understood differently depending on the context. Its primary goal is to reduce capital expenses on infrastructure, operating systems, deployment, and storage. The National Institute of Standards and technology (NIS T) defines cloud computing as on-demand network access to a shared pool of computing resources that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. Cloud computing operates using virtualization and parallel computing principles and provides services like IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and NaaS. The cloud is classified into public, private, hybrid, and community clouds, each with its own unique features. The major issue of cloud computing is to transfer the data with security breaches. Various security systems are available to protect the data security in the cloud. This research study has discussed some security models like Advanced encryption standard algorithm, Biometric model, Elliptic-curve cryptography with Diffie-Hellman algorithm and a new technique vector-matrix based encryption algorithm. The execution time for these algorithms were compared and results were discussed.

Big data analytics focuses on getting useful insights, trends and pattern out of complex and large data. Increasing the sample by resampling the data, in biostatistics expertise, can be employed using the bootstrapping techniques. The world of bootstrapping is very large and expanding where it does not only compute the confidence interval but also perform a standard resampling method. Nevertheless, survival analysis study mostly allows the data to be not normally distributed because of the censored observations. Small number of samples also one of the reasons why this study has to perform bootstrapping to overcome the issues of biasness. Bootstrapping method is said to be one of the best methods in handling skewed data. Thus, by considering bootstrapping method, this study aims to find the most significant prognostic factors of lung cancer disease that affect the survival times with the presence of censored observations by using the parametric survival analysis. Therefore, based on 100, 150, 250 and 600 number of sampling sizes, exponential distribution appeared to fit all the assigned sample sizes. Weibull and log-logistic distribution seems to fit the data only for 100 number of samples. Races and two of the interaction terms in the model appeared to be the most significant prognostic factors affecting the survival time of lung cancer. © 2023 IEEE.

Bike-sharing systems (BSSs) have become commonplace in most cities worldwide as an important part of many smart cities. These systems generate a continuous amount of large data volumes. The effectiveness of these BSS systems depends on making decisions at the proper time. Thus, there is a vital need to build predictive models on the BSS data for the sake of improving the process of decision-making. The overwhelming majority of BSS users register before utilizing the service. Thus, several BSSs have prior knowledge of the user’s data, such as age, gender, and other relevant details. Several machine learning and deep learning models, for instance, are used to predict urban flows, trip duration, and other factors. The standard practice for these models is to train on the entire dataset to build a predictive model, whereas the biking patterns of various users are intuitively distinct. For instance, the user’s age influences the duration of a trip. This endeavor was motivated by the existence of distinct user patterns. In this work, we proposed divide-and-train, a new method for training predictive models on station-based BSS datasets by dividing the original datasets on the values of a given dataset attribute. Then, the proposed method was validated on different machine learning and deep learning models. All employed models were trained on both the complete and split datasets. The enhancements made to the evaluation metric were then reported. Results demonstrated that the proposed method outperformed the conventional training approach. Specifically, the root mean squared error (RMSE) and mean absolute error (MAE) metrics have shown improvements in both trip duration and distance prediction, with an average accuracy of 85% across the divided sub-datasets for the best performing model, i.e., random forest. © 2024 the Author(s).

Solving the Traveling Salesman Problem via Different Quantum computing Architectures

We study the application of emerging photonic and quantum computing architectures to solving the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP), a well-known NP-hard optimization problem. We investigate several approaches: Simulated Annealing (SA), Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO-Ising) methods implemented on quantum annealers and Optical Coherent Ising Machines, as well as the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) and the Quantum Phase Estimation (QPE) algorithm on gate-based quantum computers. QAOA and QPE were tested on the IBM Quantum platform. The QUBO-Ising method was explored using the D-Wave quantum annealer, which operates on superconducting Josephson junctions, and the Quantum computing Inc (QCi) Dirac-1 entropy quantum optimization machine. Gate-based quantum computers demonstrated accurate results for small TSP instances in simulation. However, real quantum devices are hindered by noise and limited scalability. Circuit complexity grows with problem size, restricting performance to TSP instances with a maximum of 6 nodes. In contrast, Ising-based architectures show improved scalability for larger problem sizes. SQUID-based Ising machines can handle TSP instances with up to 12 nodes, while entropy computing implemented in hybrid optoelectronic components extend this capability to 18 nodes. Nevertheless, the solutions tend to be suboptimal due to hardware limitations and challenges in achieving ground state convergence as the problem size increases. Despite these limitations, Ising machines demonstrate significant time advantages over classical methods, making them a promising candidate for solving larger-scale TSPs efficiently. © 2025, CC BY.

Recognizing handwritten characters, the accuracy of the optical character recognition is usually not relatively high due to every person having their unique way of writing characters. Therefore, we focus on finding a high recognition accuracy of optical character recognition by using a backpropagation neural network. The input layer of the backpropagation neural network is the pixel number of the one-character image, which is 784 input nodes that will be the input layer of the neural network. Then the output layer of the neural network will be the 10-digit characters which are 0 to 9. The dataset that used for this research has a total of 280, 000 data. The output of the neural network will a computerized digit representing the recognized digit characters. The performance measurement is the recognition accuracy where the recognized data and the expected output data are compared and calculated. Additionally, the dataset was applied with salt and pepper noise to represent the corrupted data and use a median filter to repair the image. The recognition accuracy for the corrupted image and the corrected image are obtained and discussed. © 2021 IEEE.
