This paper is focused on the problem of H_∞ filtering for a class of discrete-time T-S fuzzy time-varying delay systems. Our interest is how to design full- and reduced-order filters that guarantee the filtering error system to be asymptotically stable with a prescribed H_∞ performance. Sufficient conditions for the obtained filtering error system are proposed by applying an input-output approach and a two-term approximation method, which is employed to approximate the time-varying delay. The corresponding full and reduced-order filter design is cast into a convex optimization problem, which can be efficiently solved by standard numerical algorithms.

We electrothermally determined the internal electrical resistivity of a single carbon nanocoil (CNC) which was assembled on the AFM tip. A heat-transfer modeling which considered the Joule's heat was employed to extract the electrical resistivity. The current and resistance of the loop circuits were applied in the calculation in which the thermal measurement was not required. During the electrical measurement, the overall resistance of the heating loop depended on the current variation and decreased abruptly at the beginning of the measurement. It was suggested that the contact resistances between the CNC and metal electrodes were eliminated due to the shortened difference of the work functions between the two materials. The developed electrothermal model agreed well with the experiment at steady state and gave the CNC resistivity of 1.64*10 -4 ~8.81*10 -4 Ω-m. This result confirmed the amorphous phase of the synthesized CNC.

Purpose: The analysis of syndrome distribution and the association between symptom((signs))-syndrome in chronic gastritis (CG) patients can provide references for research about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis and treatment of CG. Method: This paper applies the investigation method of clinical epidemiology, adopts probability statistics method and comes up with the concept of associated density to conduct association analysis of symptom-syndrome. Result: In the distribution of syndromes patients who have a single syndrome occupy 64.7% of the whole sample;some symptoms have been selected out, of which the associated density is more than 0.6. Conclusion: Through this comparison of the values, we found the obvious one-way relationship of the symptoms (signs) and syndromes, and the results are in line with traditional Chinese medicine theory. This method effectively complements and supports traditional Chinese medicine point of view and hypothesis.

Derivation of the mathematical model for a robot fish considering forward motion and yaw angle kinematics is presented. This model has included details of the hydrodynamic force by considering the condition of fish swimming underwater which wasn't revealed in the previous literature. The nonlinear dynamical model in Carangiform locomotion type is derived by use of Lagrange's equation, which concerning about 4 links of fish robot equivalent model similar to the 4-link planar robot manipulator. Computer simulations have conducted both in terms of dynamic response and animation motion of the fish robot swimming. These results indicate feasibility of the model for the designed robot. The tracking simulation by means of simplify proportional controller reveals the feasibility of path-tracking control for the fish robot while swimming. The model derived can be served as a basis for further investigation of compatible control design for sophisticated objectives.

This paper presents a novel method for Bayesian bearing-only tracking. Unlike the classical approaches, which involve using Gaussian distribution, the tracking procedure is completely covered with the von Mises distribution, including state representation, transitional probability, and measurement model, since it captures and models well the peculiarities of directional data. The state is represented with a mixture of von Mises distributions, thus offering advantages of being able to model multimodal distributions, handle nonlinear state transition and measurement models, and to completely cover the whole state space, all with a modest number of parameters. The tracking procedure is solved by convolution with a von Mises distribution (prediction step) and multiplication with a mixture representing the measurement model (update step). Since in the update step the number of mixture components grows exponentially, a method is presented for component reduction of a von Mises mixture. Furthermore, a closed-form solution is derived for quadratic Rényi entropy of the von Mises mixture. The algorithm is tested and compared to a particle filter representation in a speaker tracking scenario on a synthetic data set and real-world recordings. The results supported the proposed approach and showed similar performance to the particle filter.

On recent years, the educational paradigm of electrical and computer engineering has undergone a significant transformation with the advent and the exploitation of computer and communication technologies. Such transformation was necessitated in order to harmonize the learning process with the needs of the daily life. As a result, E-learning has been adopted and has added two major aspects to the learning process: 1) Interactivity;owing to the integration of simulation and multimedia technologies. 2) Ubiquity;owing to the integration of synchronous and asynchronous communication tools, and remote laboratories. Thereby, thanks to E-learning students incentives toward learning have increased. There is no doubt that practical sessions have an intrinsic role in electrical and computer engineering education;they augment the learning outcomes by strengthening the understanding of scientific concepts and theories. However, cost and administration burdens have hindered the adoption of practical sessions in engineering education until the appearance of remote laboratories. Remote laboratories have tackled these concerns by bringing practical sessions online and providing workbenches unconstrained by neither geographical nor time considerations. For these reasons, remote laboratories have proliferated among many universities and institutes around the world to be adopted in most of the disciplines of electrical and computer engineering curricula. A study carried out by the authors deduced that most of the developed remote laboratories around the world are based on common prototypes that are subsets of a common architecture, which is going to be the main topic of this paper.
