In this article we present a mathematical model of a spincopter -an inherently stable and easy to control unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Although the devised model represents only the first approximation of spincopter's physics, it captures basic phenomena that are sufficient for derivation and testing of a simple control algorithm. Results obtained by simulations in Simulink presented herein, demonstrate efficient performance of the proposed simple controller structure. Further tests, including investigation of complex aerodynamics effects and hardware-specified limitations, have been done using X-Plan software package. Finally, the proposed controller has been tested experimentally. Both, Xplane and experimental results confirmed the outcome from Simulink.

It is impossible to plan in advance unpredictable phenomena at monitoring, diagnosis and control of industrial batch and continuous equipment and processes such as chemical composition of the raw materials, the process leads to unexpected reactions and changes its parameters, etc. The agent is active, a program entity, has its own ideas how to perform the tasks of the own agenda. Agents perceive, behave ＂reasonably＂, communicate with other agents. Agents can represent equipment and operations in batch processes as recommended by the ISA $88. Jadex system is based on Java language and on FIPA org. recommendations. The description of ripening tank T406 and recipe for yogurt production in the holding of MADETA Corp. in the Czech Rep. It is described modeling and displaying of＂normal＂ and error, fault unit state of the ripening tank. Agents are within the Jadex system and describing the behavior of ripening tank T406 with state diagrams-automata and assist in diagnosing of fault states. States are described in XML language-SCXML （State Charts XML）. Jadex control Center-JCC represents a major access point to use for operating in real time.

This study is concerned with the stability and stabilisation for systems with interval time-varying delay. First, by appropriately choosing Lyapunov functional and using Finsler's lemma, a new delay-dependent stability criteria involving the minimum and maximum delay bounds is obtained. Second, new results for delay-dependent stabilisation of systems with interval time-varying delay are provided on the basis of a linear matrix inequality (LMI) framework. Both state- and observer-based output feedback controllers are designed. Differing existing design approach of observer-based controller, a single-step approach is proposed to overcome the drawback of the two-step LMI approach often encountered in the literature, and the conditions are also delay dependent. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and the benefits of the proposed method. © 2011 The Institution of engineering and Technology.

This paper shows the result of an analysis pertaining to the applicability of RESTful web services (RESTful WS) in solving various software and data integration scenarios in control centers for the electric power system domain. There are many possible ways to enhance power system software/data integration by combining RESTful WS and the IEC 61970 set of standards. The goal of this paper is to highlight those lines of integration in control centers, where the benefits of leveraging RESTful WS are most noticeable. The importance of selecting the most prominent integration scenarios from the viewpoint of RESTful WS stems from the fact, that not all integration problems are naturally fitted for RESTful WS. Assuming a type of RESTful WS, which wraps the resource oriented power system data model defined in the IEC 61970-301 Common Information Model (CIM) and the generic query interface defined in IEC 61970-403 Generic Data Access (GDA), the paper demonstrates that such a RESTful WS may be successfully utilized in many concrete integration situations. As an added advantage, a RESTful WS atop of existing IEC 61970 standards can significantly loose the couplings between different software packages used in power system control centers. We have realized several pilot projects using real life power system data models (some used in CIM interoperability tests) to assert the outcome of our feasibility study. This study clearly shows that RESTful web services are a powerful tool for solving numerous power system software and data integration problems in control centers. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper is concerned with the collaborative fault tolerant controller design problem for m non-Gaussian collaborative stochastic distribution systems which connect in series. The main idea for this paper is that when fault occurs in one of the subsystems, a collaborative fault tolerant controller will be designed for one of the rest healthy subsystems based on the non-fault controller and fault diagnosis value. This controller can accommodate the fault and guarantee that the whole systems still have a good tracking performance. © 2011 Intl Journal of Adv Mechatr.

Object detection and recognition is a common problem related to fault diagnosis in engineering or analysis of changes in biomedical data observations. As such data are often contaminated by noise it is necessary to reduce its effect during this process as well. The paper presents the application of wavelet transform to perform these task using the three dimensional wavelet decomposition, coefficients thresholding and object reconstruction. The proposed method is verified for simulated data at first and then applied for processing of backbone parts to emphasize its selected components. The goal of the paper is in (i) the presentation of the three-dimensional wavelet transform, (ii) discussion of its use for volume data de-nosing, and (iii) proposal of the following data extraction to allow their classification. The paper compares numerical results achieved by the use of different wavelet functions and thresholding methods with the experience of an expert to propose the best algorithmic approach to this problem.

This paper deals with the problem of software sensor (state estimation) to study the continuous age structured model of a harvested fish population, in order to get an estimation of the biomass of fishes by age class. In our case the fishing effort is considered as a control term, the age classes as a states and the quantity of captured fish as a measured output. The continuous non-linear model is first represented by a Takagi-Sugeno multimodel. Next, we develop a technique for designing a multimodel software sensor (called also observer) corresponding to this system and show its asymptotic convergence. The design conditions are given in linear matrix inequalities (LMI) terms which can be solved efficiently using existing numerical tools. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2011 Shanghai Jiaotong Univ.

The aim of this work is to yield a procedure for predicting expectation and covariance of power delivered by a generally tilted photovoltaic panel, based on available expectations and covariances of incident weather forecast data. The procedure consists of several steps: (i) neural-network-based identification of direct and diffuse solar irradiance models as static functions of available meteorological data; (ii) implementing the model of overall solar irradiance received on a tilted surface; (iii) determination and implementation of a thermal model of a photovoltaic panel, and (iv) implementing the unscented transformation to compute expectation and covariance of a stochastic variable after passing through a nonlinear mapping. Obtained simulation results present usefulness of the approach which is to be used within predictive control strategies of electrical storages in a microgrid with photovoltaic panels, that will optimize a combination of technical and economical criteria of the microgrid operation.

Recent increases in railway patronage worldwide have created pressure on rolling stock and railway infrastructure through the demand to improve the capacity and punctuality of the whole system, and this demand must also be balanced with reducing life-cycle costs. Condition monitoring is seen as a significant contributor in achieving this. The emphasis of this article is on the use of sensors mounted on rolling stock to monitor the condition of infrastructure and the rolling stock itself. This is set in the context of modern rolling stock being fitted with high-capacity communication buses and multiple sensors, resulting in the potential for advanced processing of collected data. This article brings together linked research that uses a similar set of rolling stock sensors, and discusses: general usage and benefits, a track defect detection method, running gear condition monitoring, and absolute train speed detection.
