As the feature size of FPGA shrinks to nanometers, SRAM-based FPGAs are more vulnerable to soft errors. During logic synthesis, reliability of the design can be improved by introducing logic masking effect. In this work, we observe that there are a lot of not-fully occupied look-up tables (LUTs) after logic synthesis. Hence, we propose a functional equivalent class based soft error mitigation scheme to exploit free LUT entries in the circuit. The proposed technique replaces not fully-occupied LUTs with corresponding functional equivalent classes, which can improve the reliability while preserve the functionality of the design. Experimental results show that, compared with the baseline ABC mapper, the proposed technique can reduce the soft error rate by 21%, and the critical-path delay increase is only 4.25%.

In this paper, we study the global robust output regulation problem for a class of multivariable nonlinear systems. The problem is first converted into a stabilization problem of an augmented system composed of the original plant and an internal model. The augmented system is a two-input system containing both dynamic uncertainty and time-varying static uncertainty. By decomposing the two-input control problem into two single-input control problems, we can solve the problem via a recursive approach utilizing the changing supply function technique. Finally, the theoretical result is applied to the speed tracking control and load torque disturbance rejection problem of a surface-mounted PM synchronous motor.

A control feedback system with saturation nonlinearities is said to have robustness preserving characteristics if the constrained system is as robust as its linear counterpart. Such characteristics can be desirable. It has been proved for some special cases that the anti-windup version of the Internal Model control architecture can offer such characteristics for first-order plants with delays against norm-bounded (not only LTI) uncertainty. This paper provides general conditions expressed in the frequency domain which allow to test for the preservation of robustness for plants of any order. In addition, a class of robustness preserving controllers is characterised in terms of the Zames-Falb conditions. The test is shown to be easily implementable and exploited for anti-windup tuning.

Abstract This paper outlines some results concerning the application of second-order sliding-mode techniques to address estimation and fault detection problems involving fractional order (FO) dynamics. Perturbed and switched FO systems are dealt with throughout the paper. Simple tuning formulas for the suggested schemes are constructively developed along the paper by means of appropriate Lyapunov analysis. In terms of the difficulty of vehicle tracking in complex environment of the visual surveillance system, an object tracking algorithm is proposed for the applications in practical visual surveillance systems for intelligent traffic. A block-based Gaussian mixture background modeling method for object detection is presented to reduce the computational complexity of moving vehicle object abstraction. An adaptive tracking algorithm fused with color features and texture features is described to better adapt the traffic scene variation. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively deal with the complex urban traffic conditions and the tracking performance is better than the conventional particle filter method and single feature based non-adaptive object tracking method.
