XML has been widely applied in kinds of areas and applications as a data exchange format. Recently, plenty of of languages based on XML emerge. There are many constraints specified by natural language in these XML-based language specifications to regulate the rules that are supposed to be obeyed by designers or programmers. To specify those constraints precisely, we present a relational calculus to capture them. Meanwhile, by means of the constraint solvers (SAT or SMT solver), we can decide that whether a XML-based document satisfies the constraints specified in its corresponding specification.

This paper describes the application of an impedance spectroscopy based analyser in combination with standard off-gas measurements for on-line monitoring of an intracellular biopolymer accumulation during a bioproduction process (Pseudomonas putida KT2442 fed-batch cultivation). Using exclusively on-line measurements a new physiological indicator of biopolymer accumulation in bacterial cells is proposed. The indicator, which could be referred to as an “obesity” quotient, is based on capacitance difference signal carrying information on number of cells and cumulative oxygen consumption related to dry cell weight.

Recently, the global robust output regulation problem for nonlinear time-varying systems is considered in [14] under the assumption that the exosystem is exactly known. This paper further considers the case where the time-varying exosystem is unknown. Conditions are given under which the problem can be converted into an adaptive stabilization problem of an augmented time-varying nonlinear system. The problem is solved for a class of time-varying output feedback systems with a time-varying uncertain exosystem.

A framework for clothing animation is developed in this paper. It integrates several key techniques involved in clothing animation. Firstly, an improved mechanical model with real material parameters are used to simulate various types of cloth realistically. Secondly, efficient distance constraints are introduced into our cloth model that effectively limits cloth extensible deformation in the plane without breaking bending deformation. Thirdly, an accelerated algorithm on GPU in collision detection process ensures responsible cloth animation. At last, an interactive system is set up on the three-tier architecture that provides users with some basic functionalities including cloth animation, human model editing and clothing simulation. The interactive editor provides a set of intuitive tools for animators to design a rich variety of human shapes and cloth animation. As a prototype system for clothing animation and virtual dressing, it is fast, reliable and expandable.
