Ensuring Zero Trust IoT Data Privacy: Differential Privacy in Blockchain using Federated Learning

In the increasingly digitized world, the privacy and security of sensitive data shared via IoT devices are paramount. Traditional privacy-preserving methods like k-anonymity and ldiversity are becoming outdated due to technological advancements. In addition, data owners often worry about misuse and unauthorized access to their personal information. To address this, we propose a secure data-sharing framework that uses local differential privacy (LDP) within a permissioned blockchain, enhanced by federated learning (FL) in a zero-trust environment. To further protect sensitive data shared by IoT devices, we use the Interplanetary File System (IPFS) and cryptographic hash functions to create unique digital fingerprints for files. We mainly evaluate our system based on latency, throughput, privacy accuracy, and transaction efficiency, comparing the performance to a benchmark model. The experimental results show that the proposed system outperforms its counterpart in terms of latency, throughput, and transaction efficiency. The proposed model achieved a lower average latency of 4.0 seconds compared to the benchmark model’s 5.3 seconds. In terms of throughput, the proposed model achieved a higher throughput of 10.53 TPS (transactions per second) compared to the benchmark model’s 8 TPS. In this paper an analysis of the amplitude of the reflected signal in extracted points on hyperbolic reflections from radargram is presented. Currently, many papers deal with the automated search for hyperbola peak in radargram. On the other hand, according to the authors' best knowledge, there is an insufficient number of papers related to the extraction of points on hyperbolas prongs, even though they can be used to determine additional information, such as the radius of detected pipe or cable. In the first part of this paper a procedure for extraction of coordinates of points on hyperbolic reflections prongs. Second part of the paper contains more detailed analysis of the value of the reflected signal of extracted points in relation to different values of acquisition parameters. This analysis has two goals: (1) to conclude which parameter has the biggest influence to amplitude and (2) to determine whether an amplitude based stopping criteria for point extraction can be established.

Every application in a smart city environment like the smart grid,health monitoring, security, and surveillance generates non-stationary datastreams. Due to such nature, the statistical properties of data changes overtime, leading to class imbalance and concept drift issues. Both these issuescause model performance degradation. Most of the current work has beenfocused on developing an ensemble strategy by training a new classifier on thelatest data to resolve the issue. These techniques suffer while training the newclassifier if the data is imbalanced. Also, the class imbalance ratio may changegreatly from one input stream to another, making the problem more *** existing solutions proposed for addressing the combined issue of classimbalance and concept drift are lacking in understating of correlation of oneproblem with the other. This work studies the association between conceptdrift and class imbalance ratio and then demonstrates how changes in classimbalance ratio along with concept drift affect the classifier’s *** analyzed the effect of both the issues on minority and majority classesindividually. To do this, we conducted experiments on benchmark datasetsusing state-of-the-art classifiers especially designed for data stream ***, recall, F1 score, and geometric mean were used to measure theperformance. Our findings show that when both class imbalance and conceptdrift problems occur together the performance can decrease up to 15%. Ourresults also show that the increase in the imbalance ratio can cause a 10% to15% decrease in the precision scores of both minority and majority *** study findings may help in designing intelligent and adaptive solutionsthat can cope with the challenges of non-stationary data streams like conceptdrift and class imbalance.

In this paper we extend our previous work on UAV localization based on the magnetic field strength. The method is based on a magnetic flux density distribution in vicinity of two very long, thin and parallel transmission lines. An UAV is equipped with 4 magnetometers, positioned so that obtained measurements give unique solution to an optimization problem used to find relative position and orientation of the UAV with respect to conductors. Several sets of experiments, undertaken on a laboratory setup, confirmed validity of the method for both solutions - analytical and numerical optimization. Obtained results, compared with high precision motion capture system, are within range of standard RTK positioning.

In this paper we extend our previous research on coherent observer-based pole placement approach to study the synthesis of robust decoherence-free (DF) modes for linear quantum passive systems, which is aimed at preservation of quantum information. In particular, DF modes can be generated by placing the poles on the imaginary axis via a coherent feedback design scheme, and these modes can further be simultaneously made robust against perturbations to the system parameters by minimizing the condition number associated with imaginary poles. We develop explicit algebraic conditions for the existence of such a coherent quantum controller, with the corresponding deign procedure provided. Examples are given to illustrate the process of tuning the DF modes towards perfect robustness via the proposed pole placement technique.

This paper proposes the design of a repetitive controller along with capacitor voltage feedforward applied to an LCL filter active power filter (APF). The repetitive controller can operate in systems with disturbances exhibiting high harmonic content and the feedforward action can reshape the output impedance of the APF. The conservative power theory (CPT) is proposed to obtain reference signals for the purpose of total mitigation of unwanted currents. The proposed technique ensures that only the active current flows through the electrical grid, while maintaining the stability of the APF-grid system through passivity theory. Finally, the proposed control strategy is validated using the Matlab/Simulink® software under several conditions of grid imbalances and harmonic distortions.

This paper explores the application of centralised and distributed Gaussian process algorithms to real-time target tracking and compares their performance. By embedding the algorithms into the Stone Soup, the focus is on the innovative implementation of Gaussian process methods with learning hyperparameters and implementation with a factorised variance of the Gaussian kernel. The performance of the methods with different kernels was evaluated, not only with the Gaussian kernel. Extensive experiments with various kernel configurations demonstrate their importance in enhancing prediction accuracy and efficiency, especially in real-time tracking. The case studies with manoeuvring targets show significant advancements in tracking capabilities, particularly in wireless sensor networks, using optimised Gaussian process methods. This work advances Stone Soup’s capabilities and lays the groundwork for future investigations into adaptive Gaussian Process applications in tracking and sensor data analysis.

This paper develops a novel control methodology for the adaptive cruise control system under external, unknown dynamics to attain set point regulation. The approach employs differential flatness for controller design, along with Gaussian Processes to estimate the unknown components in the dynamics. In order to ensure robustness to this data-driven technique, a robust control law is also introduced, that further exploits the Gaussian Process framework. The error dynamics is shown to converge to zero with high probability. Numerical experiments to support the results are presented.

This paper addresses the trajectory-tracking problem for a class of electromechanical systems. To this end, the dynamics of the plants are modeled in the so-called port-Hamiltonian framework. Then, the notion of contraction is exploited to design the desired closed-loop dynamics and the corresponding tracking controller. Notably, the proposed control design method does not require solving partial differential equations or changing the coordinates of the plant, which permits preserving the physical interpretation of the controller. The applicability of the proposed approach is illustrated in several electromechanical systems via simulations. © 2023, CC BY.

Due to its ability of overcoming the impact of double-fading effect, active intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) has attracted a lot of attention. Unlike passive IRS, active IRS should be supplied by power, thus adjusting power between base station (BS) and IRS having a direct impact on the system rate performance. In this paper, the active IRS-aided network under a total power constraint is modeled with an ability of adjusting power between BS and IRS. Given the transmit beamforming at BS and reflecting beamforming at IRS, the SNR expression is derived to be a function of power allocation (PA) factor, and the optimization of maximizing the SNR is given. Subsequently, two high-performance PA strategies, enhanced multiple random initialization Newton's (EMRIN) and Taylor polynomial approximation (TPA), are proposed. The former is to improve the rate performance of classic Newton's method to avoid involving a local optimal point by using multiple random initializations. To reduce its high computational complexity, the latter provides a closed-form solution by making use of the first-order Taylor polynomial approximation to the original SNR function. Actually, using TPA, the original optimization problem is transformed into a problem of finding a root for a third-order polynomial. Simulation results are as follows: the first-order TPA of SNR fit its exact expression well, the proposed two PA methods performs much better than fixed PA in accordance with rate, and approaches exhaustive search as the number of IRS reflecting elements goes to large-scale.
