Human movement analysis is crucial in health and sports biomechanics for understanding physical performance, guiding rehabilitation, and preventing injuries. However, existing tools are often proprietary, expensive, and function as "black boxes", limiting user control and customization. This paper introduces vailá—Versatile Anarcho Integrated Liberation Ánalysis in Multimodal Toolbox—an open-source, Python-based platform designed to enhance human movement analysis by integrating data from multiple biomechanical systems. vailá supports data from diverse sources, including retroreflective motion capture systems, inertial measurement units (IMUs), markerless video capture technology, electromyography (EMG), force plates, and GPS/GNSS systems, enabling comprehensive analysis of movement patterns. Developed entirely in Python 3.11.9, which offers improved efficiency and long-term support, and featuring a straightforward installation process, vailá is accessible to users without extensive programming experience. In this paper, we also present several workflow examples that demonstrate how vailá allows the rapid processing of large batches of data, independent of the type of collection method. This flexibility is especially valuable in research scenarios where unexpected data collection challenges arise, ensuring no valuable data point is lost. We demonstrate the application of vailá in analyzing sit-to-stand movements in pediatric disability, showcasing its capability to provide deeper insights even with unexpected movement patterns. By fostering a collaborative and open environment, vailá encourages users to innovate, customize, and freely explore their analysis needs, potentially contributing to the advancement of rehabilitation strategies and performance optimization. This paper proposes a distributed coverage control strategy for quadcopters equipped with downward-facing cameras that prevents the appearance of unmonitored areas in between the quadcopters' fields of view (FOVs). We derive a necessary and sufficient condition for eliminating any unsurveilled area that may arise in between the FOVs among a trio of quadcopters by utilizing a power diagram, i.e. a weighted Voronoi diagram defined by radii of FOVs. Because this condition can be described as logically combined constraints, we leverage nonsmooth control barrier functions (NCBFs) to prevent the appearance of unmonitored areas among a team's FOV. We then investigate the symmetric properties of the proposed NCBFs to develop a distributed algorithm. The proposed algorithm can support the switching of the NCBFs caused by changes of the quadcopters composing trios. The existence of the control input satisfying NCBF conditions is analyzed by employing the characteristics of the power diagram. The proposed framework is synthesized with a coverage control law that maximizes the monitoring quality while reducing overlaps of FOVs. It is a key issue to reasonably represent human travel and social contact in epidemic models. Various measures were applied to develop the models of human mobility and contact in a long range or a short range, such as Brown movement, random walks, spatial networks, gravity models, contact networks. We proposed a method of representing human daily movement and social contact by using multi-layer networks with temporal edge weights. We combined bipartite networks with social networks to describe human daily trip and social contact, respectively. Temporal edge weights of multi-layer networks were employed to denote the propensity of individual movement and contact. We also verified our models and parameters by incorporating human daily travel and contact regularities, as well as comparing experimental results with human behavior statistical laws. At last, we applied a Chinese university campus as a case study to investigate students' daily travel and social contact, and studied the transmission and control strategies of COVID-19 virus. We found stricter control strategies are needed to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 virus in a university. Once a patient case emerges in a university, it is better to close the campus and quarantine all students. Partial control strategies such as quarantining a part of students and buildings cannot achieve a great effect of mitigating the transmission of COVID-19 virus. Our works are beneficial for the practitioners in the field of computational epidemiology. © 2021 IEEE.

Cyber-physical social systems (CPSS) include cyberspace, physical space, and social space. Since the introduction of CPSS, human relationships with machinery and the physical world have altered as a new paradigm. Recent estimates indicate that approximately 60 percent of the world's population will live in cities by 2030. Large, dense cities can be highly productive, innovative, and very green per capita, hence ideal for our future. However, the huge influx of new people poses enormous challenges to their administrations. Smart cities are becoming a reality, therefore, to achieve higher efficiency, optimum use of resources, management and to strengthen several features of modern towns, several elements of modern cities are automated and integrated into Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Cities and infrastructure are growing all over the world, in providing end-users with increased performance, comfort, visibility and convenience, the Smart Cities concept is critical. This paper will discuss smart cities and the CPSS concept intensively with some of its key technologies, challenges, and further development by using CPSS. © 2021 IEEE.

In this paper, we first propose a Zhang neural dynamics (ZND) model for the generalized Sinkhorn scaling of time-varying matrix. Specifically, by using the dimensional reduction technique, a continuous-time ZND model of time-varying matrix scaling is proposed and analyzed. In addition, the corresponding theoretical proofs are given, which prove the theoretical validity of the proposed ZND model. Moreover, two numerical experiments containing a square case and a rectangle case are also conducted. Numerical experiments and results substantiate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed ZND model. © 2021 IEEE.

The increasing quality of service requirements and demand for satellite services necessitate higher data rates, spectral efficiency, and stability in satellite communication networks. Therefore, this paper investigates the non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) assisted satellite communication networks, where multiple users are uniformly distributed over a spherical hat according to the homogeneous Poisson point process (HPPP). Based on the characteristics of HPPP, we analyze the distance distributions of users. To evaluate the performance of the proposed networks, we first derive the closed-form expressions and approximated expressions of the outage probability (OP) for paired NOMA users. To obtain more insights into the proposed networks, the ergodic rate and diversity orders for paired NOMA users are also derived. Spectral efficiency is derived for NOMA and orthogonal multiple access (OMA) assisted satellite communication networks. Our analytical results demonstrate that the diversity order of the proposed networks is all one. Numerical results confirm that: 1) compared to OMA, the proposed NOMA-assisted satellite network demonstrates superior outage performance and spectral efficiency, especially in the higher power regimes;2) fading factors have negligible effects on OP and spectral efficiency;and 3) under certain target rates for both near and far users, the outage performance of far users in NOMA-assisted satellite communication networks is superior to that of near users. © 2024 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. Federated learning (FL) is a promising learning paradigm that can tackle the increasingly prominent isolated data islands problem while keeping users' data locally with privacy and security guarantees. However, FL could result in task-oriented data traffic flows over wireless networks with limited radio resources. To design communication-efficient FL, most of the existing studies employ the first-order federated optimization approach that has a slow convergence rate. This however results in excessive communication rounds for local model updates between the edge devices and edge server. To address this issue, in this paper, we instead propose a novel over-the-air second-order federated optimization algorithm to simultaneously reduce the communication rounds and enable low-latency global model aggregation. This is achieved by exploiting the waveform superposition property of a multi-access channel to implement the distributed second-order optimization algorithm over wireless networks. The convergence behavior of the proposed algorithm is further characterized, which reveals a linear-quadratic convergence rate with an accumulative error term in each iteration. We thus propose a system optimization approach to minimize the accumulated error gap by joint device selection and beamforming design. Numerical results demonstrate the system and communication efficiency compared with the state-of-the-art approaches. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

As an image classification technology, target detection also needs to identify specific locations of predefined categories. Therefore, target detection is not only to solve the problem of recognizing what objects exactly, but also points out locations. The development of YOLO series has greatly improved speed and accuracy in target detection technology. However, it performs not so good as detecting normal objects when targets are quite small. Thus, this paper proposes to fuse BIFPN network and set smaller and denser anchors to improve this, and then public PCB defect detection data set is used to test and verify effect of refined method. Experimental results show that improved method shifts mAP@0.5 from 0.968 to 0.979 and mAP@0.5:0.95 from 0.494 to 0.501, as well as deducts confusion rate. With the improved method, the training cost also decrases significantly.

As the complexity of chip design continues to increase, the stacking of multiple device layers in a three dimension(3D) architecture has emerged as a promising approach, which aims to optimize the placement and interconnections of large function blocks across the vertically-stacked device layers. Due to the complex interactions between layout and design constraints, traditional deterministic optimization often struggle to navigate its multi-modal search landscape effectively. Thus, we creatively propose the memristive evolutionary game: the diverse metal layers engage in a strategic interplay that determines the ownership hierarchy of chip macro modules and the 2D layout of these chip macro modules within each designated metal layer is orchestrated using evolutionary algorithm, which harness the power of game theoretic evolution to seek the optimal solution, balancing the objectives of minimizing layout area and wiring length. Upon comparison with alternative algorithms, the game evolution algorithm introduced in this paper exhibits superior optimization performance.

Frustration, that is, the impossibility of satisfying the energetic preferences between all spin pairs simultaneously, underlies the complexity of many fundamental properties in spin systems, including the computational difficulty in determining their ground states. Coherent Ising machines (CIMs) have been proposed as a promising analog computational approach to efficiently find different degenerate ground states of large and complex Ising models. However, CIMs also face challenges in solving frustrated Ising models: frustration not only reduces the probability of finding good solutions, but it also prohibits the leveraging of quantum effects in doing so. To circumvent these detrimental effects of frustration, we show how frustrated Ising models can be mapped to frustration-free CIM configurations by including ancillary modes and modifying the coupling protocol used in current CIM designs. Such frustration elimination may empower current CIMs to benefit from quantum effects in dealing with frustrated Ising models. In addition, these ancillary modes can also enable error detection and searching for excited states.
