Software development necessitates a robust testing plan though test development can be laborious and nonappealing task. We explore the utilization of the application artificial intelligence agents for generating and executing unit tests, enhancing the “Mostly Basic Python Problems” dataset. We employ behavior-driven development within a three-agent system to generate user stories and unit tests. Empirical results indicate improvements in branch coverage, illustrating the effective utilization of large language models in software testing and development processes.

This paper presents an application of distributed nonlinear model predictive fault-tolerant controller (NMPFC) for leader- following formation tracking control in both free-fault and faulty case. The fault detection and diagnosis module integrated in each robot is based on an Extended Kalman filter (EKF) to estimate multiple faults occurring in that robot. The proposed solution is validated through simulation under Matlab-Simulink for mobile-robot systems. © 2023 IEEE.

On PID controllers for a Complex-Order Fractional Model of an Automotive Injection System

Recent studies have shown that complex-order fractional operators allow for compact modeling with simpler structures and less parameters than models based on integer-order operators and even non-integer real-order operators. This work verifies the usefulness and potential of a complex-order fractional model when used to set parameters of a PID controller regulating the common-rail pressure in the injection system of a compressed natural gas engine. Parameters are derived by a general particle swarm optimization that considers a cost function weighting the performance and robustness measures. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the complex-order fractional model-based PID controller through the response to step references, the rejection of disturbances, the low sensitivity to variations of the injection system parameters.

In this paper, a single-stage magnetic pulse power supply based on a single-stage magnetic pulse compression topology that omits the core reset circuit is proposed for the actual problem of coaxial plasma igniter drive power supply for aerospace vehicles. The main circuit includes the primary capacitor series resonant charging circuit, the pulse formation circuit and the magnetic switch pulse compression circuit, and the control circuit includes the IGBT driver circuit and the capacitor charging voltage feedback circuit. The main circuit of the pulsed power supply is modeled by PSpice software with saturated transformers and magnetic switching cores and built with a resonant frequency of 50 kHz and a switching frequency of 25 kHz. When the primary capacitor is charged at 500 V, the output voltage is 40 kV, the repetition frequency is 2 kHz. The results show that: when the voltage increases to 10.4 kV, the breakdown discharge forms a plasma;the experimental results under different inlet methods and flow rates show that the plasma igniter has a better discharge uniformity under the cyclone inlet, and the igniter discharge uniformity can be further improved by adjusting the flow rate. © 2023, Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Transmission lines are traditionally modelled by considering Heaviside's elementary circuit that contains a resistor and inductor in the series branch, accounting for the energy losses and magnetic effects, while the shunt branch contains a resistor and a capacitor, accounting for the energy losses and capacitive phenomena. Classical telegrapher's equations, modelling the signal propagation in a transmission line, are obtained by assuming the infinitesimal length of the elementary circuit and by passing to a continuum. The generalization of elementary circuit is two-fold: topological by adding the capacitor in the series branch in order to account for the charge accumulation effects along the line and constitutive in order to account for the memory effects that transmission line may display. The constitutive generalization is performed by changing the constitutive relation describing the capacitive and inductive material properties using the fractional calculus approach accounting for the short-tail memory. On the other hand, the inclusion of nonlocal material properties of a transmission line is performed by considering the magnetic coupling of inductors in the series branch of Heaviside's elementary circuit, so that the magnetic flux is obtained as a superposition of local and constitutively given nonlocal magnetic flux through the cross-inductivity kernel. Signal propagation is studied in the case of power, exponential, and Gauss type cross-inductivity kernels. The wide range of functional applications and the diversity of the use-cases, as well as the safety requirements in the automotive domain can only be supported by creating complex systems, with multiple control units and software components. The solution for speeding-up the developing process and decoupling the application development from the hardware specifics is layered standardized architecture. It defines the interfaces providing the platform services to the applications, regardless of the hardware itself. This way, it is possible to implement the system functionality on the application layer without the knowledge of how the lower layers which provide platform services are built. For that reason, the exact implementation of specific services has remained obscure, which often leads to confusion. This paper presents the overview of the main aspects in term of communication between software components (SWCs) in the automotive system. Different approaches will be presented and compared, considering both inter-and intra-core communications by examining single-core and multi-cores ECU architectures. © 2021 IEEE.

Finding a cost-effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly technique for the removal of mercury ion (Hg2+) in water and wastewater can be a challenging task. This paper presents a novel and efficient adsorbent known as the graphene oxide-Cu2SnS3-polyaniline (GO-CTS-PANI) nanocomposite, which was synthesised and utilised to eliminate Hg2+ from water samples. The soft–soft interaction between Hg2+ and sulphur atoms besides chelating interaction between -N and Hg2+ is the main mechanism for Hg2+ adsorption onto the GO-CTS-PANI adsorbent. Various characterisation techniques, including Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FT-IR), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), elemental mapping analysis, and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), were employed to analyse the adsorbent. The Box-Behnken method, utilising Design Expert Version 7.0.0, was employed to optimise the crucial factors influencing the adsorption process, such as pH, adsorbent quantity, and contact time. The results indicated that the most efficient adsorption occurred at pH 6.5, with 12 mg of GO-CTS-PANI adsorbent, and 30-min contact time that results in a maximum removal rate of 95% for 50 mg/L Hg2+ ions. The study also investigated the isotherm and kinetics of the adsorption process that the adsorption of Hg2+ onto the adsorbent happened in sequential layers (Freundlich isotherm) and followed by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Furthermore, response surface methodology (RSM) analysis indicates that pH is the most influential parameter in enhancing adsorption efficiency. In addition to traditional models, this study employed some artificial intelligence (AI) methods including the Random Forest algorithm to enhance the prediction of adsorption process efficiency. Multi-criteria decision-making often involves selecting a small representative set from a database. A recently proposed method is the regret minimization set (RMS) queries. It aims to rectify the shortcomings of needing a utility function in top-k queries and the overly large result size of skyline queries. However, the existing definition of RMS only ensures one result under any utility function, and do not consider the diversity and freshness of the returned results. In this paper, we define a strong regret set, which guarantees the utility value error of k data points under any utility function. Given this new definition, we propose two problems, namely the Minimum Size problem and the Max-sum Diversity and Freshness problem. Both proposed problems have been proven to be NP-hard. Correspondingly, we devise approximation algorithms for them, and analyze algorithms’ time complexities and the approximation ratios of the solutions obtained. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
