Colon neoplasms are the second leading cause of mortality worldwide, and despite advances in endoscopy, even experienced endoscopists miss 22-28% of cases. Intelligent systems can bridge this gap, but current approaches face significant challenges. For instance, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) excel in image recognition but require large datasets, which are often scarce in healthcare. On the other hand, Capsule Networks, suitable for smaller datasets, struggle with complex images. To address these limitations, we propose a novel contrast-aware Capsule Network for colon neoplasm recognition. By incorporating a novel contrast-aware feature transformation algorithm, our proposed model enhances extracted features and focuses on processing relevant features, achieving remarkable recognition accuracies of 96.70%, 93.68%, and 99.99% on PolyGen, ETIS-Larib, and CVC-ClinicDB datasets, respectively. Our approach outperforms state-of-the-art Capsule Network algorithms and offers a promising solution to support endoscopists in accurate colon neoplasm detection, reducing the burden of image analysis and improving patient outcomes. © 2024 IEEE.

This research investigates the strain-sensing capabilities and conductivity of graphene-PVDF (Polyvinylidene fluoride) nanocomposite films. With its exceptional electrical conductivity and transport properties, graphene is embedded in PVDF to enhance the films' thermal stability, flexibility, and mechanical strength. Various weight percentages of graphene-PVDF films were fabricated using solvent casting and subjected to strain analysis. Raman spectroscopy, including ID/IG ratio calculations and mapping, monitored strain responses and local variations. The study also incorporated Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) for surface roughness measurements and Broadband Dielectric Spectroscopy (BDS) to assess dielectric properties across frequencies from 1 Hz to 106 Hz. The films' electrical conductivity and mechanical properties were evaluated to optimize their use in microstrip patch antennas. The potential of graphene-PVDF films as conductive patches was explored, and simulated results were compared with real-time performance data. The findings suggest that graphene-PVDF films could replace traditional copper in antennas, offering tunable conductivity and flexibility, potentially leading to innovative applications in wearable technology and advanced sensor systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Spatial modulation (SM) is a low-complexity multiple-input/multiple-output transmission technique that combines index modulation and quadrature amplitude modulation for wireless communications. In this work, we consider the problem of link adaption for generalized spatial modulation (GSM) systems that use multiple active transmit antennas simultaneously. Link adaption algorithms require a real-time estimation of the link quality of the time-variant communication channels, e.g., by means of estimating the mutual information. However, determining the mutual information of SM is challenging because no closed-form expressions have been found so far. Recently, multilayer feedforward neural networks were applied to compute the achievable rate of an index modulation link. However, only a small SM system with two transmit and two receive antennas was considered. In this work, we consider a similar approach but investigate larger GSM systems with multiple active antennas. We analyze the portions of mutual information related to antenna selection and the IQ modulation processes, which depend on the GSM variant and the signal constellation. © VDE VERLAG GMBH · Berlin · Offenbach.

control structures governing distributed generation sources (DGSs), utilized in microgrids, have to provide several important functionalities and generally secure stable network operation. The large majority of these control structures are based either on droop (or droop-derived) or other, more advanced, control paradigms. The former are overly simplistic and necessitate control layerization and many extensions for the overall control structure to be applicable in the general case. The latter are either too complex or application-specific, rendering them unfit to be adopted as a general tool for controlling DGSs in microgrids. The control scheme derived in this paper is based on a goal function that simultaneously secures safe and stable operation, respecting voltage amplitude and frequency limits, and precise active power exchange. As such, the proposed control scheme integrates what is traditionally called primary and secondary control of microgrids and enables reliable peer-to-peer power exchange. The control scheme was tested using simulation tools and together with the simulation results, a performance analysis is provided.

This research endeavors to design a predictive model to forecast stock prices using a Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM) regressor, specifically emphasizing the adjusted closing price to mitigate the autocorrelation issues intrinsic to time series data. The investigation encompasses a 12-month duration of historical stock data, integrating two technical indicators, namely Exponential Moving Averages (EMA-5 and EMA-10), to augment predictive precision. Gradient Boosting, recognized for its proficiency in managing intricate and non-linear data patterns, was employed to forecast forthcoming stock prices. Critical performance indicators, including Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), and the Coefficient of Determination (R2), played a role in evaluating model accuracy, attaining an R2 score of 0.99, thereby signifying an almost perfect correlation between actual and predicted prices. Beyond numerical assessments, visual examinations through scatter plots, residual plots, and prediction error distribution further elucidated the model's efficiency. The findings reveal that the amalgamation of Gradient Boosting with technical Indicators such as EMA-5 and EMA-10, coupled with an emphasis on the adjusted closing price, proves exceptionally effective for stock price forecasting. This methodology achieved an accuracy rate nearing 99%, illustrating its substantial promise for stock market prediction and its proficiency in alleviating autocorrelation challenges within time series datasets. © 2025 IEEE.

This research proposes a method called enhanced collaborative andgeometric multi-kernel learning (E-CGMKL) that can enhance the CGMKLalgorithm which deals with multi-class classification problems with non-lineardata distributions. CGMKL combines multiple kernel learning with softmaxfunction using the framework of multi empirical kernel learning (MEKL) inwhich empirical kernel mapping (EKM) provides explicit feature constructionin the high dimensional kernel space. CGMKL ensures the consistent outputof samples across kernel spaces and minimizes the within-class distance tohighlight geometric features of multiple classes. However, the kernels constructed by CGMKL do not have any explicit relationship among them andtry to construct high dimensional feature representations independently fromeach other. This could be disadvantageous for learning on datasets with complex hidden structures. To overcome this limitation, E-CGMKL constructskernel spaces from hidden layers of trained deep neural networks (DNN).Due to the nature of the DNN architecture, these kernel spaces not onlyprovide multiple feature representations but also inherit the compositionalhierarchy of the hidden layers, which might be beneficial for enhancing thepredictive performance of the CGMKL algorithm on complex data withnatural hierarchical structures, for example, image data. Furthermore, ourproposed scheme handles image data by constructing kernel spaces from aconvolutional neural network (CNN). Considering the effectiveness of CNNarchitecture on image data, these kernel spaces provide a major advantageover the CGMKL algorithm which does not exploit the CNN architecture forconstructing kernel spaces from image data. Additionally, outputs of hiddenlayers directly provide features for kernel spaces and unlike CGMKL, do notrequire an approximate MEKL framework. Most modern businesses run their competitive operations online. Cybersecurity is crucial to commercial operations. No cybersecurity defensive solution is universal. Standard security strategy involves using hardware and software to counter known security threats that may become stronger over time. Attackers and security professionals fight constantly. A security approach based primarily on tools is untenable. However, some firms skip employee awareness training, resulting in biased cybersecurity breach decisions. This study objectively analyzes key factors that help enterprises and organizations deploy Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) to find ways to maintain such protection. A dataset of UK corporate cybersecurity breach surveys is used to perform performance testing on eight supervised learning models. The entire research uses the model's built characteristics that are excellent at recognizing SETA-adopting enterprises and organizations. The trial shows that awareness is vital when organizations use SETA. Many firms don't know how to safeguard employees from cybersecurity risks when they use online products and services, such as external web services. © 2024 IEEE.

This article presents the results of implementing a digital signal processing method for analyzing the acoustic emission (AE) signature and detecting defects such as cracks and pores. The signal processing method is based on a cascade connection of digital high-pass filters and ensures the selection of informative signals and increases the signal-to-interference ratio. In order to control the formation of defects in the process of selective laser melting, the paper presents the results of experimental testing of the cascade filtration method for detecting defects in the internal structure such as cracks and pores. The signal components recorded during the development of defects during the growth of additive manufacturing products were extracted. AE signatures were analyzed and statistical relationships were assessed. The relationship between the parameters of the AE signal and the values of laser radiation power has been identified, which characterizes the process of defect formation. © 2024 IEEE.
