In the challenging domain of engineering, where cold regions present formidable challenges, we confront the relentless forces of nature. From sub-zero temperatures to the unpredictable dance of snowfall and the silent buildup of ice, these regions demand innovative solutions to fortify the resilience of critical infrastructure. This initiative harnesses the potential of cutting-edge technology and leverages the extensive historical weather data tapestry. It introduces a pioneering strategy by integrating machine learning algorithms with extensive weather data, steering cold region engineering into an era defined by foresight and adaptability. This paper studies a transformative approach designed to forecast, prevent, and ultimately enhance infrastructure resilience in the face of rigid cold. Addressing the distinct challenges of cold region engineering, arising from harsh winter conditions such as extreme cold temperature, snowfall, and ice accumulation, we offer a comprehensive study using machine learning algorithms applied to historical weather data to construct a deeper analysis model capable of highlighting adverse weather effects. This, in turn, covers the way for optimized resource allocation, streamlined maintenance planning, and design enhancements. Our proposed study follows a systematic process, encompassing meticulous data collection, appropriate feature selection, and aiming seamless integration of the model into existing infrastructure management systems. Additionally, it facilitates the implementation of efficient and proactive measures to mitigate the impact of severe weather conditions on infrastructure. The paper also conducts three different hypotheses testing: temperature impact hypothesis, precipitation influence hypothesis, and ice accumulation and infrastructure resilience hypothesis, propelling engineering practices to new heights, particularly in the face of challenging cold environments. © ASCE.

Despite the evident advantages of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in software development, the nature of bugs and potential threats arising from its implementation remains subject to ongoing investigation. The formulation of a list, enumerating potential threats during the IaC process remains an unattained goal. However, it is not enough to recounting IaC threats only, it is imperative for Development (Dev), Security (Sec), and Operations (Ops) teams to synergistically collaborate from early developmental stages to conduct thorough risks’ analysis, estimation, and mitigation procedures concerning IaC-related risks. Moreover, adhering to security standards and risk management framework throughout the IaC lifecycle will enhance the overall security of the deployment process. A risk management framework for IaC is essential. The extant risk management and threat modeling methodologies may necessitate tailoring to effectively protect the software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) from IaC misuse. This research aims to identify threats that threaten IaC lifecycle or arise from the utilization of IaC. In addition, it tries to integrate IaC practices with the DevSecOps culture to devise a robust risk management framework and prescribe pertinent practices conducive to fostering secure IaC implementation.

With a steady increase in the adoption of cloud storage systems, the client's data are at risk of being leaked. There are several methods of encrypting data which are quite useful but they lack some of the features of today's sophisticated threats. The methodology used in this research propose an encryption framework known as Obfuscrypt to improve the issues of data privacy as well as confidentiality of data stored in cloud storage systems. Obfuscrypt uses conventional encryption strategies incorporated with obfuscation and post-quantum cryptographic algorithms to provide a complex security plan immune to classic and quantum approaches. Some of the proposed other innovations include the decentralised key management with multi-factor authentication and RBAC-ABE as the fine-grained access control techniques. These features make it possible for only the authorized personnel to be in a position to be in a position of decrypting and retrieving the stored data thereby minimizing the possibility of the data being accessed by unauthorized people. The work also considers the issue of performance efficiency of the cloud storage systems. Similar to other symmetric encryption programs, Obfuscrypt uses light encryption algorithms and brings in to play the hardware acceleration so that it may infuse lesser computational overhead in the process of encryption and decryption. As can be clearly seen from the results, the actual work proves that the proposed framework not only offers a higher level of security but does not affect the system performance to a great extent. Also, the study addresses the post-quantum cryptographic algorithm for making the system resistant to an attack that can be posed by quantum computing systems. With the help of these improved algorithms, Obfuscrypt guarantees the permanent data security in the world of constantly emerging cyber threats. © 2024 IEEE.

Pulsar search is always the basis of pulsar navigation,gravitational wave detection and other research ***,the volume of pulsar candidates collected by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST)shows an explosive growth rate that has brought challenges for its pulsar candidate filtering ***,the multi-view heterogeneous data and class imbalance between true pulsars and non-pulsar candidates have negative effects on traditional single-modal supervised classification *** this study,a multi-modal and semi-supervised learning based on a pulsar candidate sifting algorithm is presented,which adopts a hybrid ensemble clustering scheme of density-based and partition-based methods combined with a feature-level fusion strategy for input data and a data partition strategy for *** on both High Time Resolution Universe SurveyⅡ(HTRU2)and actual FAST observation data demonstrate that the proposed algorithm could excellently identify pulsars:On HTRU2,the precision and recall rates of its parallel mode reach0.981 and 0.988 *** FAST data,those of its parallel mode reach 0.891 and 0.961,meanwhile,the running time also significantly decreases with the increment of parallel nodes within ***,we can conclude that our algorithm could be a feasible idea for large scale pulsar candidate sifting for FAST drift scan observation.

This research aims to explore the use of modern complex defensive machine learning algorithms in the provision of predictive analytics for health improvement. Incorporating electronic health records, medical image information, and genomic data the work proposes and assesses multiple machine learning models including deep learning, ensemble learning, and reinforcement learning. The main findings shown very high performance in disease prediction, in chronic illness and in the application of efficiency improvements in hospitals as a whole. Overall, such threats as data quality, data privacy, and model interpretability have been discussed in the research and emphasize the importance of the machine learning approach in healthcare. It is highlighted that further development and integration of the interdisciplinary approaches as well as the use of the transparent and interpretable artificial intelligence and machine learning models can be urgent to increase the acceptance among the healthcare staff. This paper enhances the literature on applying machine learning in healthcare systems adding to the repertoire of knowledge for improved patient care. © 2024 IEEE.

Crack segmentation is a critical and demanding task in pavement engineering. Recent studies using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) or vision Transformer (ViT) for crack segmentation have shown promising results, but there are still challenges due to the inhomogeneous crack intensity, complex pavement environments, limited labeled training datasets, and noise in most crack images. These challenges make it difficult to distinguish cracks from noise. To address these challenges, we propose MDAU-Net, a multi-scale U-Net with dual attention module based on an encoder-decoder architecture for pavement crack segmentation. MDAU-Net exploits multi-scale input to preserve spatial awareness in all encoder layers, and the dual attention module (DAM) combines global average pooling (GAP) attention module and position attention (PC) module to extract more comprehensive and discriminative features for crack boundary recognition and improve crack segmentation effectiveness. For optimizing the segmentation network and capturing detailed crack information, a hybrid weighted segmentation loss function is developed. Comprehensive experimental evaluations on two benchmark datasets (DeepCrack and Crack500) demonstrate that MDAU-Net achieves state-of-the-art segmentation performance. These results show that MDAU-Net is a promising approach for pavement crack segmentation and can be used to improve the safety and durability of pavement infrastructure. © 2023 IEEE.

The recent emergence of time series contrastive clustering methods can be categorized into two classes. The first class uses contrastive learning for universal representations, which can be effective in various downstream tasks, but overlooks important categorical information and clustering objectives, leading to unsuitable models. The second class incorporates contrastive learning into clustering objectives but fails to fully explore potential connections and structures between time series data. To this end, we propose the "Time Series Graph-augmented Contrastive Clustering (TSGCC) method", a graph-augmented contrastive learning framework aiming to create cluster-friendly features and assignments by iteratively optimizing contrastive loss. The method uses a weighted KNN graph to build positive and negative sample pairs, projecting the instances into a feature space with the dimensionality number of clusters. Experimental results demonstrate that TSGCC outperforms 18 advanced time-series clustering methods on the 36 representatives out of the 128 UCR benchmarks, achieving the best clustering results on 12 datasets, with the highest average rank (3.22) of RI and the second-highest average rank (3.89) of NMI among 18 clustering methods. We further compared our method with recent approaches on the entire set of 128 UCR datasets, demonstrating our method's broad applicability and effectiveness. © 2024, The Authors. The studies in this research are focused on the mix of homomorphic encryption mechanisms and the Cuckoo Search Optimization Algorithm to promote the security of the healthcare data in the cloud computing system. I have observed that cloud solutions are now at the center of the contemporary health care systems, and security of patient's data remains a top priority. Earlier used encryption techniques, though secure if implemented, have problems in the way that data is to be processed first it has to be decrypted and then made ready for use - it is in this phase that data can be easily hacked into. Homomorphic encryption provides solution to this issue since it enables one to perform computations on encrypted data while maintaining its confidentiality. However, it takes a lot of computation which presents a lot of problems even in terms of simple performance. The Cuckoo Search Algorithm, a new nature-inspired metaheuristic, is incorporated into the encryption process to provide further optimization, whilst preserving the security benefits of the algorithm. The use of the proposed methodology takes place employing Python and its deployment at the cloud platform with elaborated dataset containing anonymized records extracted from electronic health records. The outcome proves that there are great enhancements in encryption and decryption time, computational complexity, and capacity, and thereby making the system appropriate for real-world healthcare solutions. This research offers a strong base for protection of healthcare data in cloud and is useful for the enhancement of adaptive, comprehensive and secure cloud computing systems. © 2024 IEEE.

software systems progressively evolve over time where source code needs to be modified, newly are added and others need to be deleted. Therefore, it is worth to monitor progress and software development, to measure growth and assess system stability. This paper assesses OSS software growth and instability to clarify impacts of its instability on its system growth. Three open source software applications, with different characteristics, have been selected. Size and instability metrics are extracted and statistically analyzed in order to assess the reflections of software growth under instability *** correlation among size metrics are highly correlated - the highest and lowest correlation are 0.99 and 0.72 respectively. Moreover, the result shows the highest correlation is between total classes and total lines of code. The instability measures on software systems exhibits certain pattern characterized by more addition and modification than deletion at system design level and the implementation changes exhibits more addition than modification and deletion. although the characteristics of the open source applications are different than the closed-source, the Lehman's observations are still valid with regard to continuous growth and trends. © 2021 IEEE.

Electronic health record (EHR) data has emerged as a valuable resource for analyzing patient health status. However, the prevalence of missing data in EHR poses significant challenges to existing methods, leading to spurious correlations and suboptimal predictions. While various imputation techniques have been developed to address this issue, they often obsess difficult-to-interpolate details and may introduce additional noise when making clinical predictions. To tackle this problem, we propose SMART, a Self-Supervised Missing-Aware RepresenTation Learning approach for patient health status prediction, which encodes missing information via missing-aware temporal and variable attentions and learns to impute missing values through a novel self-supervised pre-training approach which reconstructs missing data representations in the latent space rather than in input space as usual. By adopting elaborated attentions and focusing on learning higher-order representations, SMART promotes better generalization and robustness to missing data. We validate the effectiveness of SMART through extensive experiments on six EHR tasks, demonstrating its superiority over state-of-the-art methods.
