In this paper, we propose an ontological design for developing a context-aware e-learning system that supports learners developing software Quality Assurance (SQA) compliant software. The learning process is driven by the type of software product the learner is dealing with, as well as, its SQA requirements and corresponding SQA techniques and procedures. The paper shows a global ontology design to embed knowledge related to the learner, SQA domain in general, and product-based SQA requirement and procedures. Reasoning tools are provided to infer knowledge that can provide more-modular and just-in-time contextual SQA resources for the task in hand. A learning scenario is shown to illustrate the system's ability to deal with SQA requirements facing the learner in the software development process.

As modern software systems operate in a highly dynamic context, they have to adapt their behaviour in response to changes in their operational environment or/and requirements. Triggering adaptation depends on detecting quality of service (QoS) violations by comparing observed QoS values to predefined thresholds. These threshold-based adaptation approaches result in late adaptations as they wait until violations have occurred. This may lead to undesired consequences such as late response to critical events. In this paper we introduce a statistical approach CREQA - Control Charts for the Runtime Evaluation of QoS Attributes. This approach estimates at runtime capability of a system, and then it monitors and provides early detection of any changes in QoS values allowing timely intervention in order to prevent undesired consequences. We validated our approach using a series of experiments and response time datasets from real world web services.

This article examines, from the energy viewpoint, a new lightweight, slim, high energy efficient, light-transmitting envelope system, providing for seamless, free-form designs for use in architectural projects. The research was based on envelope components already existing on the market, especially components implemented with granular silica aerogel insulation, as this is the most effective translucent thermal insulation there is today. The tests run on these materials revealed that there is not one that has all the features required of the new envelope model, although some do have properties that could be exploited to generate this envelope, namely, the vacuum chamber of vacuum insulated panels (VIP), the monolithic aerogel used as insulation in some prototypes, and reinforced polyester barriers. By combining these three design components — the high-performance thermal insulation of the vacuum chamber combined with monolithic silica aerogel insulation, the free-form design potential provided by materials like reinforced polyester and epoxy resins—, we have been able to define and test a new, variable geometry, energy-saving envelope system.

In this research we conducted a systematic review on Global software Development (GSD) literature and performed a survey to gather challenges associated with GSD projects as well as their mitigation strategies. We reviewed studies with empirical evidence in GSD. In total there are 86 papers included as the primary studies. From the systematic review we collected 48 challenges and 42 mitigation *** challenges and strategies were also identified by our survey respondents. In addition, 4 additional mitigation strategies were uncovered from the survey. The collected challenges and mitigation strategies are later compiled into checklists which can be employed as risk identification and risk mitigation instruments.

Several types of surveillance Systems are available in market, having different functions like security, life savings, and safe driving etc. Currently all available surveillance systems are based on fixed radio access technology. In our work, we evaluate the problems with fixed Radio Access Technology (RAT) based surveillance systems, and then propose a cognitive radio based surveillance system. Now a day's cognitive radio is a symbol of intelligent networks, and lot of work on these types of networks is going on in all over the world. During our tests on fixed RAT based surveillance system, we observe that the fixed RAT based surveillance system is not capable of providing, hundred percent network availability due to signal loss, power loss, hardware theft or due to natural disasters (earth quake, floods etc). We propose a new algorithm to introduce cognition in the existing system.
