Transaction transmission model for blockchain channels based on non-cooperative games

In blockchain networks, transactions can be transmitted through channels. The existing transmission methods depend on their routing information. If a node randomly chooses a channel to transmit a transaction, the transmission may be aborted due to insufficient funds(also called balance) or a low transmission rate. To increase the success rate and reduce transmission delay across all transactions, this work proposes a transaction transmission model for blockchain channels based on non-cooperative game *** balance, channel states, and transmission probability are fully considered. This work then presents an optimized channel transaction transmission algorithm. First, channel balances are analyzed and suitable channels are selected if their balance is sufficient. Second, a Nash equilibrium point is found by using an iterative sub-gradient method and its related channels are then used to transmit transactions. The proposed method is compared with two state-of-the-art approaches: Silent Whispers and Speedy Murmurs. Experimental results show that the proposed method improves transmission success rate, reduces transmission delay,and effectively decreases transmission overhead in comparison with its two competitive peers.

The construction industry has one of the highest known rates of occupational incidents. Construction organizations are increasingly recognizing the significance of occupational safety and health (OSH) problems as a prominent area of concern. Though numerous studies have shown that employees’ behavior and approach towards OSH are impacted by Environmental (such as governmental regulations), Personal and Organizational factors, there is a lack of consensus on the organizational elements. Hence, the primary objective of this study is to ascertain the organizational elements that influence employees’ adherence to OSH and suggest improvement needs, if any. To achieve the objective, the study adopted a qualitative research approach and conducted semi-structured interviews with fifteen highly experienced professionals in the construction industry. Using manual thematic analysis, the interview transcripts were analyzed to identify and extract major themes based on commonalities. Six themes were recognized: Empowerment, communication, knowledge management and learning and development, leadership and top management commitment, internal systems and processes, and work culture and spirituality. The findings of this study will assist the industry in developing a framework of effective solutions for OSH management. To generate ghost-free high dynamic range (HDR) images by merging multiple differently exposed low dynamic range (LDR) images, the key is to handle ill-exposed areas in the input LDR images and misalignment among them. In this paper, a Pyramid Spatial Feature Transform and shared-offsets Deformable convolutional Network (PSFTDNet) is proposed to achieve this target. The pyramid spatial feature transform module tackles ill-exposed areas, which modulates the features to exploit complementary information of them in a coarse-to-fine manner. The shared-offsets deformable alignment handles misalignment among the input images, which applies the offsets used to align exposure-aligned images to align all the features. Experiments on the NTIRE HDR challenge dataset and Kalantari dataset show that the proposed PSFTDNet outperforms all the conventional methods with PSNR-L scores of 42.31 dB and 41.54 dB, and PSNR-T scores of 34.78 dB and 43.56 dB. © 2023 IEEE.

Bug triage teams allocate substantial resources to determine the priority and resolution time of reported defects, frequently hampered by a lack of specialized knowledge in the relevant subject. This work presents sophisticated multi-target classification models for the simultaneous prediction of problem priority and resolution time. We investigate transformation strategies, such as Classifier Chains, Binary Relevance, Label Power Sets, and Random k-Label Sets (RAKEL), over various machine learning and deep learning models utilising the Functional API. The models are trained using a newly launched dataset, the Spring JIRA Bug Dataset, available at IEEE ***/documents/spring-jira-bug-dataset, which includes bug summaries from the Jira bug tracking software. Model performance evaluation involves using metrics such as Hamming Loss, Accuracy, Weighted Precision, Weighted Recall, Weighted F1-Score, and MCC. The experimental findings indicate substantial enhancements in prediction accuracy and computing efficiency, showcasing the potential of these models to significantly improve the bug triage process by automating estimations of priority and resolution time. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Federated learning has been used extensively in business inno-vation scenarios in various *** research adopts the federated learning approach for the first time to address the issue of bank-enterprise information asymmetry in the credit assessment ***,this research designs a credit risk assessment model based on federated learning and feature selection for micro and small enterprises(MSEs)using multi-dimensional enterprise data and multi-perspective enterprise *** proposed model includes four main processes:namely encrypted entity alignment,hybrid feature selection,secure multi-party computation,and global model ***,a two-step feature selection algorithm based on wrapper and filter is designed to construct the optimal feature set in multi-source heterogeneous data,which can provide excellent accuracy and *** addition,a local update screening strategy is proposed to select trustworthy model parameters for aggregation each time to ensure the quality of the global *** results of the study show that the model error rate is reduced by 6.22%and the recall rate is improved by 11.03%compared to the algorithms commonly used in credit risk research,significantly improving the ability to identify ***,the business operations of commercial banks are used to confirm the potential of the proposed model for real-world implementation.

Designing a Human-centered AI Tool for Proactive Incident Detection Using Crowdsourced Data Sources to Support Emergency Response

Time of incident reporting is a critical aspect of emergency response. However, the conventional approaches to receiving incident reports have time delays. Non-traditional sources such as crowdsourced data present an opportunity to detect incidents proactively. However, detecting incidents from such data streams is challenging due to inherent noise and data uncertainty. Naively maximizing detection accuracy can compromise spatial-temporal localization of inferred incidents, hindering response efforts. This article presents a novel human-centered AI tool to address the above challenges. We demonstrate how crowdsourced data can aid incident detection while acknowledging associated challenges. We use an existing CROME framework to facilitate training and selection of best incident detection models, based on parameters suited for deployment. The human-centered AI tool provides a visual interface for exploring various measures to analyze the models for the practitioner's needs, which could help the practitioners select the best model for their situation. Moreover, in this study, we illustrate the tool usage by comparing different models for incident detection. The experiments demonstrate that the CNN-based incident detection method can detect incidents significantly better than various alternative modeling approaches. In summary, this research demonstrates a promising application of human-centered AI tools for incident detection to support emergency response agencies. Copyright © 2024 held by the owner/author(s).

Entity alignment (EA) identifies equivalent entities that locate in different knowledge graphs (KGs), and has attracted growing research interests over the last few years with the advancement of KG embedding techniques. Although a pile of embedding-based EA frameworks have been developed, they mainly focus on improving the performance of entity representation learning, while largely overlook the subsequent stage that matches KGs in entity embedding spaces. Nevertheless, accurately matching entities based on learned entity representations is crucial to the overall alignment performance, as it coordinates individual alignment decisions and determines the global matching result. Hence, it is essential to understand how well existing solutions for matching KGs in entity embedding spaces perform on present benchmarks, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. To this end, in this article we provide a comprehensive survey and evaluation of matching algorithms for KGs in entity embedding spaces in terms of effectiveness and efficiency on both classic settings and new scenarios that better mirror real-life challenges. Based on in-depth analysis, we provide useful insights into the design trade-offs and good paradigms of existing works, and suggest promising directions for future development. © 2024 IEEE.

There is a growing recognition of the fact that healthy food directly influences the quality of life, as it provides and promotes good health. However, due to the hectic pace of daily life, many people find it difficult to eat healthily, causing increasingly alarming diet-related diseases which have led to about two-thirds of all deaths due to chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and kidney disease. Nevertheless, these conditions can be prevented and minimized if each individual takes meals suited to his body, thereby reducing mortality rate and improving well-being. Setting up healthy meals for different individuals could be tedious and complicated because of the different requirements and preferences that would require consideration of several objectives ranging from energy, cost of meal, food preference to seasonal availability, hence showcasing healthy meal generation as a Multi-Objective problem. This research presents a daily meal optimization that adopts Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II), a Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm (MOEA) for user-tailored and optimal meals, capable of simultaneously maximizing energy composition of food items and minimizing the cost of meals. The dataset used comprises two hundred Nigerian foods obtained from Nigerian food composition table. NSGA-II was able to find suitable solutions in reasonable time because of its outstanding diversity metric preventing it from converging to local optimum, and its ability to maintain a set of non-dominated solutions. The output of the algorithm indicates that our proposed method is suitable for optimizing and suggesting timely food combinations and can thus enhance healthy living. © 2024 IEEE.
