Jump height estimation is well-studied problem in sports science with a variety of methods proposed over the years. This paper introduces a portable, simple-to-setup and a cost-effective video-based jump height estimation method, and compares it with existing traditional methods that use expensive and specialized equipment. To enable more accurate comparison between different systems, a custom-designed Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) was used as an additional sensor input. The analysis was performed on eleven female physically active handball players. The dataset consists of three most common vertical jump variations: squat jump, counter-movement jump and counter-movement jump with free arms. The analysis show that our video-based approach achieves comparable results to the traditional methods. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, the threat of bushfires in Australia has evolved at an unprecedented rate. With this comes increasing concerns from authorities and operators surrounding the impact of distributed generation systems (DGS) across the country. Though studies have been conducted into the impact of bushfires in Australia and the optimal power flow (OPF) of DGS, there is a lack of research integrating these two concepts. Therefore, this work will aim to analyse the impact of bushfires on the OPF of the Greater Sydney Region's DGS. Following extensive research into both concepts, a bushfire model and an OPF model have been integrated. The integration model outputs power flow data as the Greater Sydney region's DGS is impacted by the fire. When a transmission line is cut off by fire, the unsupplied power demand must be generated and re-distributed from another bus. Inevitably, a penalty cost will be associated with this which leads to an increase in the total operational cost of the system. The results indicate that the potential penalty cost and associated operational cost increase when a transmission line is cut off by fire. An optimal strategy that aims at protecting vulnerable buses and minimizing these costs was defined. This strategy outlines the requirement to further protect Eraring, Sydney West and Sydney North as these buses are the most critical within the network due to their fuel type and role. This work defines a new strategy to help combat the impact of bushfires on one of Australia's most essential DGS and to balance the trade-off between meeting consumer's demand and minimising operational costs. © 2023 IEEE.

Dataspaces are regarded as a standardized solution for sharing data in a trusted way. However, providing and sharing high-quality data across dataspaces poses several scientific and technical challenges, opening new research avenues. Developing governance models and technologies for supporting cross-domain integration of data and services from the existing single-domain dataspaces represents a significant challenge. In this vision paper, we discuss the challenges for enabling next-generation dataspaces and propose an innovative approach that aims at developing a vision and identifying requirements and building blocks for next-generation dataspaces, followed by defining a roadmap and practical migration paths for the existing dataspaces towards the next-generation dataspaces. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors. Certified robustness circumvents the fragility of defences against adversarial attacks, by endowing model predictions with guarantees of class invariance for attacks up to a calculated size. While there is value in these certifications, the techniques through which we assess their performance do not present a proper accounting of their strengths and weaknesses, as their analysis has eschewed consideration of performance over individual samples in favour of aggregated measures. By considering the potential output space of certified models, this work presents two distinct approaches to improve the analysis of certification mechanisms, that allow for both dataset-independent and dataset-dependent measures of certification performance. Embracing such a perspective uncovers new certification approaches, which have the potential to more than double the achievable radius of certification, relative to current state-of-the-art. Empirical evaluation verifies that our new approach can certify 9% more samples at noise scale σ = 1, with greater relative improvements observed as the difficulty of the predictive task increases.

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) constitutes the core technology of various contemporary healthcare applications, such as remote patient monitoring, telemedicine, and surgical robotics. Due to their complex system-of-system nature, IoMT systems are prone to numerous cyber attacks with implications ranging from physical harm to data theft. This study surveys the literature to identify the cyber attack categories and their taxonomy to induce a knowledge base for systematic threat modelling methods. Contrary to similar studies, we paid attention to review papers demonstrating solid attack techniques and tactics in healthcare systems. The knowledge base consisting of attacks, their categories, and taxonomy can be utilized by system developers to identify security requirements at the early stage of development.

Organizations these days capitalize on crowdsourcing to learn collective wisdom from a population of individuals. Vast amounts of data have been gathered, making the crowdsourcing platforms a lucrative target to steal data from and thus raising severe privacy concerns. Data contributed by workers may carry sensitive individual information. Meanwhile, organizations deem the aggregate statistics as intellectual property. In this paper, we propose, design, and evaluate GoCrowd, a system framework for obliviously aggregating wisdom with quality assurance in crowdsourcing. At its core, we propose constructions for two procedures. The starting point is a gold-standard based private worker quality control procedure that provides privacy-friendly worker quality assurance under the widely popular gold-standard mechanism. The subsequent procedure is an oblivious wisdom aggregation procedure that obliviously learns aggregate statistics over workers’ data while considering their quality. We securely realize these procedures with only lightweight secret sharing techniques. Our system is utterly oblivious to the service provider, and ensures that only the requester can learn the aggregate quality-aware statistics but nothing more. Extensive evaluations show that GoCrowd can produce quality statistics over data from 500 workers for 200 16-choice questions within 1 s.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, pre-Trained large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated their powerful application potential in various fields. Click fraud is a serious issue in the digital advertising ecosystem, especially in the pay-per-click (PPC) model, where fraudulent activities significantly undermine the effectiveness of ads and pose security risks. While many traditional fraud detection methods have achieved relatively good accuracy, they still face poor generalization and extensive feature engineering issues. This paper explores using LLMs for click fraud detection by leveraging the powerful feature extraction capabilities and superior generalization performance of the Gemma-2b model, combined with LoRA fine-Tuning technology. Extensive experiments on the TalkingData2017 dataset showed that accuracy was achieved at 83°/0, demonstrating the effectiveness of LLMs in click fraud detection tasks. © 2024 IEEE.
