Distributed Model Predictive control for Connected and Automated Vehicles in the Presence of Uncertainty

This article focuses on the development of distributed robust model predictive control (MPC) methods for multiple connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) to ensure their safe operation in the presence of uncertainty. The proposed layered control framework includes reference trajectory generation, distributionally robust obstacle occupancy set computation, distributed state constraint set evaluation, data-driven linear model representation, and robust tube-based MPC design. To enable distributed operation among the CAVs, we present a method, which exploits sampling-based reference trajectory generation and distributed constraint set evaluation methods, that decouples the coupled collision avoidance constraint among the CAVs. This is followed by data-driven linear model representation of the nonlinear system to evaluate the convex equivalent of the nonlinear control problem. Finally, to ensure safe operation in the presence of uncertainty, this article employs a robust tube-based MPC method. For a multiple CAV lane change problem, simulation results show the efficacy of the proposed controller in terms of computational efficiency and the ability to generate safe and smooth CAV trajectories in a distributed fashion. The nitrogen removal in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) usually consumes a significant amount of energy, for example, oxygen injection. To reduce energy consumption while ensure the quality in the effluent of WWTPs, this paper proposes a control strategy based on the Multi-Objective Nonlinear Marine Predator Algorithm (MONMPA). First, to address the unacceptable energy consumption issue due to fixed setpoints in the wastewater treatment process, a multi-objective setpoint optimization scheme is proposed in this paper. Second, to deal with uncontrollable inflow disturbances and uncertainty, a predictive controller with feedforward compensation for inflow disturbances is adopted to further accurately track the optimized setpoints. Finally, the proposed control strategy is compared with other standard approaches, and experimental results showed the effectiveness and superiority of this strategy.

Due to the continuous growth in steel market demand and the shift towards small batches and multiple varieties, efficient storage management has become a key factor in increasing the profitability of logistics parks. However, the current storage methods, due to the unreasonable allocation of stack positions, still result in energy waste during the dispatch phase and the need for trucks to pick up goods across multiple yards. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a comprehensive optimization scheme to reduce truck transfers and energy consumption in steel product dispatch. First, we constructed an optimization problem model that integrates the spatial layout of the logistics park and order data, aiming to maximize the correlation between steel products within the same yard and reduce the total energy consumption during the dispatch phase. Subsequently, a new algorithm called Enhanced Greedy and Tabu-Assisted Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search (EGTA-ALNS) is introduced. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms existing ones in terms of solving speed and scale. It effectively optimizes energy consumption during steel dispatch and reduces the number of truck transfers. © 2024 IEEE.

The extensive utilization of aircraft as a mode of transportation and the accelerated expansion of the aviation market have imposed heightened expectations on airport scheduling capabilities. To enhance the efficacy of aircraft ground operations and diminish the duration of runway occupation, the analysis of aircraft motion characteristics and the management of their ground taxiing trajectories assume greater significance. This paper provides an overview of aircraft ground taxiing control technology. This paper provides a brief overview of the key parameters and trajectory prediction methods involved in the aircraft landing process. The nonlinear analysis theory is employed to introduce the aircraft brake system stability and heading stability. Subsequently, the results of significant research on ground skidding control laws are presented. The fourth section presents a summary of the issues and technological developments in aircraft ground skid run control and outlines future research priorities in anti-skid brake control. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2024.

Image colorization has always been a hot topic in computer vision. Since the emergence of deep learning and its excellent performance in many image-processing tasks, image colorization methods based on convolutional neural networks (CNN) emerge in an endless stream, including automatic colorization methods and A coloring method based on a reference image. In the coloring method based on the reference image, an existing problem is that an algorithm for calculating the similarity between the grayscale image and the reference image needs to be designed to map the color blocks in the reference image to the grayscale image. And we use the attention mechanism to spread color implicitly, and propose an attention-guided image colorization network, which extracts features and corresponding color information from the reference image through a reference encoding sub-network, and simultaneously passes a target encoding sub-network The network extracts grayscale features from grayscale images, uses attention to calculate the correlation between the two types of features, and then restores the features and reconstructs colors through the decoding network. Our method can quickly capture the color of the reference feature, accurately transfer it to the target feature, and effectively solve the problem of small target loss during downsampling. By validating on multiple datasets, the results show that our method is effective, outperforming multiple state-of-the-art image colorization algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.

Euler-Lagrange (EL) systems represent a crucial and large class of dynamical systems, and a precise model of the true system would be beneficial in planning and tracking problems. This work aims to learn an unknown EL system using noisy measurement data to achieve improved data utilization efficiency. Specifically, for the considered EL system, a linear representation of the system is constructed using the Koopman operator, which is further characterized by sample data using Willems' fundamental lemma. Moreover, an event-triggered learning mechanism is proposed to improve data utilization efficiency, and it is designed based on the analysis of the learning error bounds. The effectiveness of the proposed event-triggered learning approach is validated through a manipulator example. © 2024 IEEE.
