Effect of applied electric fields on supralinear dendritic integration of interneuron

Evidences show that electric fields(EFs)induced by the magnetic stimulation could modulates brain activities by regulating the excitability of GABAergic ***,it is still unclear how and why the EF-induced polarization affects the interneuron response as the interneuron receives NMDA synaptic *** the key role of NMDA receptor-mediated supralinear dendritic integration in neuronal computations,we suppose that the applied EFs could functionally modulate interneurons’response via regulating dendritic *** first,we build a simplified multi-dendritic circuit model with inhomogeneous extracellular potentials,which characterizes the relationship among EF-induced spatial polarizations,dendritic integration,and somatic *** performing model-based singular perturbation analysis,it is found that the equilibrium point of fast subsystem can be used to asymptotically depict the subthreshold input–output(sI/O)relationship of dendritic *** predicted that EF-induced strong depolarizations on the distal dendrites reduce the dendritic saturation output by reducing driving force of synaptic input,and it shifts the steep change of sI/O curve left by reducing stimulation threshold of triggering NMDA ***,the EF modulation prefers the global dendritic integration with asymmetric scatter distribution of NMDA ***,we identify the respective contribution of EF-regulated dendritic integration and EF-induced somatic polarization to an action potential generation and find that they have an antagonistic effect on AP generation due to the varied NMDA spike threshold under EF stimulation.

This study investigates the controllability of a general heterogeneous networked sampled-data system(HNSS) consisting of nonidentical node systems, where the inner coupling between any pair of nodes can be described by a unique *** signals on control and transmission channels are sampled and held by zero-order holders, and the control sampling period of each node can be different. Necessary and sufficient controllability conditions are developed for the general HNSS, using the Smith normal form and matrix equations, respectively. The HNSS in specific topology or dynamic settings is discussed subsequently with easier-to-verify conditions derived. These heterogeneous factors have been determined to independently or jointly affect the controllability of networked sampled-data systems. Notably, heterogeneous sampling periods have the potential to enhance the overall controllability, but not for systems with some special dynamics. When the node dynamics are heterogeneous,the overall system can be controllable even if it is topologically uncontrollable. In addition, in several typical heterogeneous sampled-data multi-agent systems, pathological sampling of single-node systems will necessarily cause overall uncontrollability.

Enhanced Tube-Based Event-Triggered Stochastic Model Predictive control With Additive Uncertainties

This paper proposes an event-triggered stochastic model predictive control for discrete-time linear time-invariant(LTI) systems under additive stochastic disturbances. It first constructs a probabilistic invariant set and a probabilistic reachable set based on the priori knowledge of system *** with enhanced robust tubes, the chance constraints are then formulated into a deterministic form. To alleviate the online computational burden, a novel event-triggered stochastic model predictive control is developed, where the triggering condition is designed based on the past and future optimal trajectory tracking errors in order to achieve a good trade-off between system resource utilization and control performance. Two triggering parameters σ and γ are used to adjust the frequency of solving the optimization problem. The probabilistic feasibility and stability of the system under the event-triggered mechanism are also examined. Finally, numerical studies on the control of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning(HVAC) system confirm the efficacy of the proposed control.

Compliant control of Lower Limb Rehabilitation Exoskeleton Robot Based on Flexible Transmission

To ensure the safety, comfort, and effectiveness of lower limb rehabilitation exoskeleton robots in the rehabilitation training process, compliance is a prerequisite for human–machine interaction safety. First, under the premise of considering the mechanical structure of the lower limb rehabilitation exoskeleton robot (LLRER), when conducting the dynamic transmission of the exoskeleton knee joint, the soft axis is added to ensure that the rotation motion and torque are flexibly transmitted to any position to achieve flexible force transmission. Second, to realize the active compliance control of LLRER, the sliding mode impedance closed-loop controller is developed based on the kinematics and dynamics model of LLRER, and the stability of the designed control system is verified by Lyapunov method. Then the experiment is designed to track the collected bicycle rehabilitation motion data stably, and the algorithm and dynamic model are verified to satisfy the experimental requirements. Finally, aiming at the transmission efficiency and response performance of the soft shaft in the torque transmission process of the knee joint, the soft shaft transmission performance test is carried out to test the soft shaft transmission performance and realize the compliance of the LLRER, so as to ensure that the rehabilitation training can be carried out in a safe and comfortable interactive environment. Through the design of rehabilitation exercise training, it is verified that the LLRER of flexible transmission under sliding mode impedance control has good adaptability in the actual environment, and can achieve accurate and flexible control. During the experiment, the effectiveness of monitoring rehabilitation training is brought through the respiratory belt.

Main Circuit's Parametric Optimal Design Counting Inconsistent Battery Parameters and control of 35 kV Large-Capacity Transformer-Less BESS

A large quantity of battery cells are required by each phase of the 35 kV large-capacity transformer-less battery energy storage system (LCTL-BESS) based on cascaded H-bridge converter (CHBC) and the parameters of battery cells are inconsistent. The inconsistencies of battery parameters should be fully considered in main circuit parameter design to improve the system's adaptability to them, thus delaying the aging rate of battery and ensuring the safety and high efficiency utilization during the whole life cycle of battery. The cascaded number of power modules in per phase is the most important main circuit parameter of system and has a significant influence on system performance, which should be optimized by considering system efficiency and safety comprehensively. Since the system efficiency and safety evaluation model are closely related to inconsistent battery parameters, it is impossible to establish them under different number of power modules based on the detailed parameters of each battery cell. Therefore, a method to establish system efficiency and safety evaluation model based on the capacity distribution of the battery cells is proposed. The massive battery cell parameter identifications and data processing are avoided. Our proposed method provides theoretical guidance for the optimization design of main circuit for LCTL-BESS. Additionally, the power and energy balancing control of 35 kV LCTL-BESS are investigated, and a novel energy balancing control strategy among modules considering the DC link voltage and state of charge (SOC) are proposed under the nearest level modulation (NLM), which can promise both the balancing effect and AC side output performance. Finally, the validity of the proposed parameter design method and the control strategy are proved through off-line simulation model. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Distributed Consensus control for Multi-Bus DCMGs under Time-Varying Delays and Compound Noises

Distributed controls in DC microgrids (DCMGs) are susceptible to interference from fading channels within their communication networks. There is also a lack of effective control and consensus performance analysis under communication delays and noises. Therefore, this paper proposes a distributed consensus control to mitigate the adverse effect of time-varying delays and compound noises, enabling rapid average bus voltage regulation and accurate current sharing in a multi-bus DCMG operating under a directed and sparse communication graph. Firstly, we establish the stochastic delay differential equation (SDDE) of the controlled system. Based on stochastic stability theory and algebraic graph theory, the sufficient conditions achieving a mean-square strong consensus are then derived through consensus performance analysis. Subsequently, a quantitative assessment of parameter impact is introduced by solving a nonlinear constrained optimization problem using the established theorem and corollary. Finally, this research studies the impact of the consensus gains on the upper bound of delay, admissible noise intensity, and convergence rate. Comprehensive simulations validate the accuracy and effectiveness of the theoretical analysis. Comparison results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed control in terms of the capability of resisting time delays and noise interferences. © 1969-2012 IEEE.

This study presents an overview on intelligent reflecting surface(IRS)-enabled sensing and communication for the forthcoming sixth-generation(6G) wireless networks, in which IRSs are strategically deployed to proactively reconfigure wireless environments to improve both sensing and communication(S&C) performance. First, we exploit a single IRS to enable wireless sensing in the base station's(BS's) non-line-of-sight(NLoS) area. In particular, we present three IRS-enabled NLoS target sensing architectures with fully-passive, semi-passive, and active IRSs, respectively. We compare their pros and cons by analyzing the fundamental sensing performance limits for target detection and parameter estimation. Next, we consider a single IRS to facilitate integrated sensing and communication(ISAC), in which the transmit signals at the BS are used for achieving both S&C functionalities, aided by the IRS through reflective beamforming. We present joint transmit signal and receiver processing designs for realizing efficient ISAC, and jointly optimize the transmit beamforming at the BS and reflective beamforming at the IRS to balance the fundamental performance tradeoff between S&C. Furthermore, we discuss multi-IRS networked ISAC, by particularly focusing on multi-IRS-enabled multi-link ISAC, multi-region ISAC, and ISAC signal routing, respectively. Finally, we highlight various promising research topics in this area to motivate future work.

Thermodynamic Modeling and Heat-Moisture Transfer Characteristic Analysis of in Situ Thermal Desorption System for Polluted Soil

In Situ Gas Thermal Desorption (ISGTD) is one of the effective approaches for organic contaminated soil. To investigate the heat-moisture transfer characteristics of soil during the heating process, a radially layered coupled heat-moisture model of the ISGTD system is established. The temperature and moisture distribution along the radial direction of the heat source, as well as the synergistic action of heat-moisture transfer at different heating stages are analyzed. The effects of heat intensity and initial water content on the heating performance are discussed. The results demonstrate that the liquid water migration driven by temperature gradient is greater than that driven by water content gradient and the liquid water migration in each soil unit increases from the heat-up stage to the superheating phase inside-out radially. The gas flow rate directly affects the stable temperature and heating time, while the initial water content only contributes to the heating time when the stable temperature remains unchanged. The correctness of the numerical model and results is verified by comparing them with on-site experimental data. Considering that high initial water content will lead to an extension of the heating time in the first two stages, further optimization design can be carried out for less gas flow rate and shorter heating time to achieve energy-saving remediation of high moisture soil. The above findings are of guiding significance in the engineering applications of contaminated soil remediation. © 2024, Science Publications. All rights reserved.

Research and application of composite stochastic resonance in enhancement detection

Aiming at the problem that the intermediate potential part of the traditional bistable stochastic resonance model cannot be adjusted independently, a new composite stochastic resonance(NCSR) model is proposed by combining the Woods–Saxon(WS) model and the improved piecewise bistable model. The model retains the characteristics of the independent parameters of WS model and the improved piecewise model has no output saturation, all the parameters in the new model have no coupling characteristics. Under α stable noise environment, the new model is used to detect periodic signal and aperiodic signal, the detection results indicate that the new model has higher noise utilization and better detection ***, the new model is applied to image denoising, the results showed that under the same conditions, the output peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR) and the correlation number of NCSR method is higher than that of other commonly used linear denoising methods and improved piecewise SR methods, the effectiveness of the new model is verified.
