Smart manufacturing systems combine collaborative and autonomous control systems to provide optimal performance and respond to volatile demands. A key component of smart manufacturing is material management, as raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products must be transported to the right location at the right time. However, during the production phase, it is imperative to establish an optimal traffic control scheme in order to avoid congestion and optimize material flow. This paper proposes a platooning-based control procedure implemented in a virtual agent-based manufacturing environment to increase the material flow efficiency on a manufacturing shop floor. An analysis of the production makespan and an indicator of the level of congestion in the material handling system was conducted in order to determine productivity improvements. An agent-based simulation is used to test the effectiveness of the novel platooning approach versus a traditional basic approach. A multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) reveals that the inclusion of a platoon-based procedure improves production performance and reduces congestion risks.

A growing number of cartridge dust collectors are used in the underground mining, but the underground wetting state have a grave impact on their performance. In order to study the influence of filter cartridge (FC) wetted before filtration and during filtration on the dust collector, a test system was built. The results showed that the pressure drop (PD) of wetted mechanical filter cartridge (MFC) returned to initial PD after 24 h, and coated filter cartridge (CFC) only need 12 h. The PD of pre-wetted FC rose rapidly while filtrated dusty air. The residual pressure drop (RPD) of pre-wetted FC was high, which heavily reduced the service life of FC. If FC was wetting during filtration of dusty airflow, the PD were minimum when the spray rate was 450 mL/ h, and the PD of MFC was higher than that of CFC.

A self-powered induction spray dust removal system for long-distance belt conveying in underground coal mines was developed. In the system, the kinetic energy of the conveyor belt can be converted into the electrical energy required by the infrared sensing atomization spray device. When the rotational speed of the roller reaches 230 r/min, 12.33 V electricity can be steadily generated. Further proposed to install multiple sets of dust reduction systems with an optimal spacing of 240 m. The effectiveness of this installation method was verified by turning systems on one by one in the 25211 transportation roadway of the Hongliulin coal mine. The total dust concentration was reduced from 11.78 mg/m 3 to 3.88 mg/m 3 , and the respirable dust concentration was reduced from 6.33 mg/m 3 to 2.48 mg/m 3 . The results show that the developed self-powered induction spray dust removal system can dramatically improve the long-distance belt conveying environment in coal mines.

Pleated cartridge dust collectors are widely used in various industrial production environments, in its use, pulse-jet cleaning is a crucial step. Despite the importance of pulse-jet cleaning, there was a widespread problem of uneven cleaning in the upper part of the filter cartridge . In this paper, a built-in open-hole dust cleaner (BODC) was developed to improve the pulse-jet cleaning performance, ameliorate the problem of uneven cleaning and prolong the filter cartridge's service life. The filtration and pulse-jet cleaning test system was established to verify the effect of BODC. Based on the comprehensive comparison and analysis of pulse-jet pressure at the four types of measuring points, the best BODC in this experiment is 6 mm 4 holes with composite pressure of 1.52 MPa. The best BODC and ordinary nozzle were compared with respect to pressure drop. The results showed that the change rule of pressure drop of BODC is similar to that of the ordinary nozzle. The average filtration cycle of BODC and ordinary nozzle was 1300 s and 928 s, respectively. The dust emission concentration of the dust collectors of both cleaning methods during filtration was 1.354 mg/m 3 and 1.412 mg/m 3 , respectively. A significant improvement in cleaning uniformity has been demonstrated when the BODC is used. Ultimately, the best BODC in this experiment was applied on site at the excavation face of Donghuantuo Coal Mine, which resulted in an average dust removal efficiency of 95.2% for total dust and 93.2% for respirable dust, with no residual dust left in the upper part of the filter cartridge after cleaning.

Augmented reality technology is currently experiencing a significant surge. The potential of AR is immense, and while it may not be as ubiquitous as smartphones, it is rapidly gaining ground. The past decade has seen a remarkable expansion of AR applications, with many industries already leveraging its capabilities. The use of AR is not limited to a few areas but is expanding across various fields, from science to marketing to art. This adaptability across diverse fields reassures us that AR is not just a passing trend but a technology with wide-ranging applications. However, in most of these industries, AR is often only at a theoretical level in development. The use of augmented reality is increasingly important in the production process. With rapid digital transformation and the introduction of Industry 4.0, the company's leadership must find new ways to optimise its processes and increase production efficiency.

This paper addresses the task of learning periodic information using deep neural networks to achieve real-time, environment-independent sound source localization. Previous papers showed phase data is the most significant cue in sound source localization tasks and the proposed vM-B DNN was validated to be able to handle such periodic information using on synthesized data. However, they haven't shown its effectiveness and robustness in realistic use cases. This paper introduces a more complex model based on residual networks and adapts vM-B activation function for convolutional layers for use cases that require real-time predictions in dynamically changing environments.

With the progress of few-shot learning, it has been scaled to many domains in the real world which have few labeled data, such as image classification and object detection. Many efforts for data embedding and feature combination have been made by designing a fixed neural architecture that can also be extended to variable and adaptive neural architectures for better performance. Recent works leverage neural architecture search technique to automatically design networks for few-shot learning but it requires vast computation costs and GPU memory requirements. This work introduces EMAS, an efficient method to speed up the searching process for few-shot learning. Specifically, we build a supernet to combine all candidate operations and then adopt gradient-based methods to search. Instead of training the whole supernet, we adopt Gumbel reparameterization technique to sample and activate a small subset of operations. EMAS handles a single path in a novel task adapted with just a few steps and time. A novel task only needs to learn fewer parameters and compute less content. During meta-testing, the task can well adapt to the network architecture although only with a few iterations. Empirical results show that EMAS yields a fair improvement in accuracy on the standard few-shot classification benchmark and is five times smaller in time.

Real-time online monitoring of algal biomass has emerged as a significant challenge in contemporary marine and freshwater environmental conservation efforts aimed at safeguarding the aquatic ecosystem. Given the pivotal role that algae play in maintaining a delicate balance of nutrients and other environmental factors, the application of a machine learning-assisted dielectric spectroscopy approach represents a novel and intelligent technique for mitigating the current challenges associated with monitoring algal *** work optimized a machine learning -assisted real-time dielectric spectroscopy approach to study the effect of N:P ratios on Desmodesmus sp. growth to forecasting the blooming. As a primary feature, various N:P concentrations (1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 1:2, and 1:3) were utilized to characterize and compare the dielectric (S11(dB) & Ε'') and conventional UV-vis spectroscopy properties (OD686 & Chl-a). The dielectric measurements of S11(dB) & Ε'' are consistent with the OD686 & Chl-a value. Highest Desmodesmus sp. OD686 0.87,0.76 recorded at N:P 3:1,2:1 ratio respectively. The machine learning based PCA and linear regression model were applied and found at 0-8 days incubation time Desmodesmus sp. growth biomass negatively corelated with S11(dB) & Ε" and positively correlatedly with OD686 & Chl-a respectively, where R2 values >0.95. While the measured Ε"& S11(dB) -7.956 &-0.6775, the linear regression model was applied to predicted and forecasting OD686 for 8days and 20days was 0.817, 0.716;2.136,1.926 respectively, at the ratios N:P (3:1) and RMES value were 0.0047 & 0.0319. This analysis revealed that the machine learning- assisted model has high accuracy. Thus, Machine learning-assisted dielectric spectroscopy method could be the potential tools to real-time monitoring the algal cell biomass or forecasting the blooming to control the N:P ratios to protect the aquatic ecosystem. © 2023, The Authors. The wet filter dust collector (WFDC) is widely used in dust control in various industries, but its dust collection mechanism is unclear, and the influence of the metal-based filter screen (MBFS) inclination angle on the dust removal performance is still uncertain. In this paper, the liquid film crushing and collecting dust mechanism of MBFS and the influence of its inclination angle on the dust removal performance of WFDC are studied. The results show that with the increase of inclination angle (30° to 150°), the average pressure drop of WFDC first decreases and then increases, the average dust concentration first increases and then decreases, and the MBFS dust removal performance is optimal at 90°. The optimized WFDC was applied on-site in a coal preparation plant, which exceeded the dust suppression efficiencies of 91 % and 88 % for total dust and respirable dust, respectively. The research results are expected to provide theoretical guidance for WFDC design and improvement.

Bridge the Present and Future: A Cross-Layer Matching Game in Dynamic Cloud-Aided Mobile Edge Networks

Cloud-aided mobile edge networks (CAMENs) allow edge servers (ESs) to purchase resources from remote cloud servers (CSs), while overcoming resource shortage when handling computation-intensive tasks of mobile users (MUs). Conventional trading mechanisms (e.g., onsite trading) confront many challenges, including decision-making overhead (e.g., latency) and potential trading failures. This paper investigates a series of cross-layer matching mechanisms to achieve stable and cost-effective resource provisioning across different layers (i.e., MUs, ESs, CSs), seamlessly integrated into a novel hybrid paradigm that incorporates futures and spot trading. In futures trading, we explore an overbooking-driven aforehand cross-layer matching (OA-CLM) mechanism, facilitating two future contract types: contract between MUs and ESs, and contract between ESs and CSs, while assessing potential risks under historical statistical analysis. In spot trading, we design two backup plans respond to current network/market conditions: determination on contractual MUs that should switch to local processing from edge/cloud services;and an onsite cross-layer matching (OS-CLM) mechanism that engages participants in real-time practical transactions. We next show that our matching mechanisms theoretically satisfy stability, individual rationality, competitive equilibrium, and weak Pareto optimality. Comprehensive simulations in real-world and numerical network settings confirm the corresponding efficacy, while revealing remarkable improvements in time/energy efficiency and social welfare.
