Artificial intelligence(AI) systems surpass certain human intelligence abilities in a statistical sense as a whole, but are not yet the true realization of these human intelligence abilities and behaviors. There are differences, and even contradictions, between the cognition and behavior of AI systems and humans. With the goal of achieving general AI, this study contains a review of the role of cognitive science in inspiring the development of the three mainstream academic branches of AI based on the three-layer framework proposed by David Marr, and the limitations of the current development of AI are explored and analyzed. The differences and inconsistencies between the cognition mechanisms of the human brain and the computation mechanisms of AI systems are analyzed. They are found to be the cause of the differences and contradictions between the cognition and behavior of AI systems and humans. Additionally, eight important research directions and their scientific issues that need to focus on braininspired AI research are proposed: highly imitated bionic information processing, a large-scale deep learning model that balances structure and function, multi-granularity joint problem solving bidirectionally driven by data and knowledge, AI models that simulate specific brain structures, a collaborative processing mechanism with the physical separation of perceptual processing and interpretive analysis, embodied intelligence that integrates the brain cognitive mechanism and AI computation mechanisms,intelligence simulation from individual intelligence to group intelligence(social intelligence), and AI-assisted brain cognitive intelligence.

Design and Performance Analysis of a Series-Parallel Self-Aligning Index Finger Exoskeleton

Hand exoskeletons have become increasingly crucial for the rehabilitation of hand function, as relevant studies have shown that using the exoskeletons to assist in rehabilitation training can improve hand motor function. However, developing a human-robot kinematic compatibility exoskeleton while providing sufficient assistance torque is still a challenge. This paper develops a series-parallel self-aligning index finger exoskeleton to assist the index finger in flexion/extension and adduction/abduction training. A series-parallel mechanism driven by two motors simultaneously was proposed for the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint, which can ensure human-robot joint axes self-alignment and increase the joint assistance torque. A kinematic compatibility analysis method was proposed, and the kinematic compatibility of the series-parallel mechanism was analyzed. The degrees of freedom and forward kinematics of the proposed mechanism were analyzed, and its workspace was calculated, which results show that the motion range of the MCP joint can meet the grasping training requirements. Preliminary experiments were carried out, and the results indicate that the motion trajectory coefficients of the marker points at the MCP, PIP, and DIP joints averaged for all subjects with and without the proposed exoskeleton are 0.993, 0.956, and 0.939, respectively, which can verify the kinematic transparency of the proposed mechanism. The assistance torque generated by the proposed mechanism on the MCP joint can meet the joint assistance torque requirements. In a word, the proposed exoskeleton can achieve flexion/extension and adduction/abduction training, human-robot joint axes self-alignment, and provide sufficient assistance torque. © 2016 IEEE.

Economic Operation Strategy for Fast Charging Station Assisted by HESS Consisting of Retired Batteries Considering Concurrent Decommissioning

The wide adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) leads to the need for fast charging stations (FCSs) with battery energy storage systems (BESSs) due to charging anxieties and various charging behaviors, and results in numerous retired batteries (RBs) necessitating the recycling solutions. To address these issues simultaneously, this study proposes an economic operation strategy for FCSs assisted by the RB-based hybrid energy storage system (HESS). In the proposed strategy, the FCS economic operational model is established, where a rolling mixed-integer linear programming (RMILP) mechanism is adopted considering uncertain charging behaviors, and the fuzzy C-means (FCM) algorithm is adopted to cluster RBs to form the RB-based HESS. Moreover, a concurrent decommissioning method is introduced for the RB-based HESS lifespan extension and cost reduction, with the assistance of a state-of-health-based droop control for power allocation optimization among RBs. Finally, various simulation and experimental studies have been conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed economic operation strategy. The results demonstrate that FCSs with the RB-based HESSs achieve 67.32% annual net revenue (ANR) superiority over FCSs without BESSs, and 12.69% ANR increment over those with BESSs. Moreover, the lifespan of the RB-based HESS can be extended by 11.23% with the concurrent decommissioning method. © 2015 IEEE.

Multi-channel quantum parameter estimation

The aim of quantum metrology is to exploit quantum effects to improve the precision of parameter estimation beyond its classical limit. In this paper, we investigate the quantum parameter estimation problem with multiple channels. It is related but not limited to the following two important and practical quantum metrology problems:(i) Quantum enhanced metrology with control, whose aim is to improve the precision of quantum sensing by utilizing feedback or open-loop control;(ii) Practical quantum metrology where the underlying evolution of quantum probes may change from a unitary dynamics to an open system dynamics,owing to the inevitable decoherence during the quantum sensing operation. For various kinds of quantum multiple channels, the corresponding quantum channel Fisher information is derived. To demonstrate the results, some illustrative examples are given.

The rapid development of Internet technology derived out a massive network text data. Therefore, how to classify the massive text data efficiently has important theoretical significance and application value. In order to acquire accurate classification results, the process has been divided into two parts. In terms of text representation, this paper proposes an online field feature selection algorithm (OFFS algorithm) based on streaming data, which solves the problems of low efficiency and memory consumption of traditional feature selection algorithms. With improvements in the vector space model, the new algorithm can select the real-time feature of the data and quickly generate text vector. In the aspect of classifier design, an OFFS-BP neural network text classifier based on BP neutral network and OFFS algorithm is designed. It adapts to the distributed parallel computing, reduces the training time and balances the computation efficiency and classification accuracy. Finally based on the Spark platform, the OFFS-BP neural network classifier is implemented. The experimental results show that the OFFS-BP neural network classifier is more suitable for big data environment with less computation time and higher classification efficiency. © Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2018.

Weighted vertex cover(WVC)is one of the most important combinatorial optimization *** this paper,we provide a new game optimization to achieve efficiency and time of solutions for the WVC problem of weighted *** first model the WVC problem as a general game on weighted *** the framework of a game,we newly define several cover states to describe the WVC ***,we reveal the relationship among these cover states of the weighted network and the strict Nash equilibriums(SNEs)of the ***,we propose a game-based asynchronous algorithm(GAA),which can theoretically guarantee that all cover states of vertices converging in an SNE with polynomial ***,we improve the GAA by adding 2-hop and 3-hop adjustment mechanisms,termed the improved game-based asynchronous algorithm(IGAA),in which we prove that it can obtain a better solution to the WVC problem than using a the ***,numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed IGAA can obtain a better approximate solution in promising computation time compared with the existing representative algorithms.

Electronic medical records and doctor-patient conversations contain a wealth of useful information, such as disease symptoms, drug names, and cure cycles. Traditional deep learning approaches utilize bidirectional recurrent neural networks to encode text, which cannot effectively capture long-distance dependencies in text. In order to identify medical entity types in various texts more accurately, a named entity recognition approach based on RoBERTa-WWM-IDCNN-CRF is proposed. This approach introduces the RoBERTa-WWM pre-trained model, in order to improve the overall understanding of long Chinese texts for the first time. The model generates semantic representations containing prior knowledge. Then, the generated semantic representations are feed to the IDCNN to extract sentence level characteristics. Finally, the global optimal solution is obtained and the results of the named entity are produced through the CRF. The experiment indicates that the improvement of F1 score, accuracy, and recall of RoBERTa-WWM-IDCNN-CRF model are 7.94%, 4.52% and 10.02% comparing with the classical BiLSTM-CRF model. © 2024 IEEE.

Rapid stabilization of general stochastic quantum systems is investigated based on the rapid stability of stochastic differential *** introduce a Lyapunov-LaSalle-like theorem for a class of nonlinear stochastic systems first,based on which a unified framework of rapidly stabilizing stochastic quantum systems is *** to the proposed unified framework,we design the switching state feedback controls to achieve the rapid stabilization of singlequbit systems,two-qubit systems,and N-qubit *** the unified framework,the state space is divided into two state subspaces,and the target state is located in one state subspace,while the other system equilibria are located in the other state *** the designed state feedback controls,the system state can only transit through the boundary between the two state subspaces no more than two times,and the target state is globally asymptotically stable in *** particular,the system state can converge exponentially in(all or part of)the state subspace where the target state is ***,the effectiveness and rapidity of the designed state feedback controls are shown in numerical simulations by stabilizing GHZ states for a three-qubit system.

Surrogate-Assisted Multiobjective Gene Selection for Cell Classification from Large-Scale Single-Cell RNA Sequencing Data

Accurate cell classification is crucial but expensive for large-scale single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis. Gene selection (GS) emerges as a pivotal technique in identifying gene subsets of scRNA-seq for classification accuracy improvement and gene scale reduction. Nevertheless, the rising scale of scRNA-seq data presents challenges to existing GS methods regarding performance and computational time. Thus, we propose a surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithm for multiobjective GS to address these deficiencies. An innovative two-phase initialization method is proposed to select sparse solutions to provide preliminary insights into gene contributions. Then, a binary competitive swarm optimizer is proposed for effective global search, where a local search method is embedded to eliminate irrelevant genes for efficiency consideration. Additionally, a surrogate model is adopted to forecast classification accuracy efficiently and substitutes part of the computationally expensive classification process. Experiments are conducted on eight large-scale scRNA-seq datasets with more than 20,000 genes. The effectiveness of the proposed GS method for scRNA-seq cell classification compared with eight state-of-the-art methods is validated. Gene expression analysis results of selected genes further validated the significance of the genes selected by the proposed method in the classification of scRNA-seq data. © 1997-2012 IEEE.
