Conventional hyperspectral cameras cascade lenses and spectrometers to acquire the spectral datacube,which forms the fundamental framework for hyperspectral ***,this cascading framework involves tradeoffs among spectral and imaging performances when the system is driven toward ***,we propose a spectral singlet lens that unifies optical imaging and computational spectrometry functions,enabling the creation of minimalist,miniaturized and high-performance hyperspectral *** a paradigm,we capitalize on planar liquid crystal optics to implement the proposed framework,with each liquid-crystal unit cell acting as both phase modulator and electrically tunable spectral *** with various targets show that the resulting millimeter-scale hyperspectral camera exhibits both high spectral fidelity(>95%)and high spatial resolutions(~1.7 times the diffraction limit).The proposed“two-in-one”framework can resolve the conflicts between spectral and imaging resolutions,which paves a practical pathway for advancing hyperspectral imaging systems toward miniaturization and portable applications.

Honing is a finishing process used for the inner cylindrical surfaces of engine blocks or liners. The process involves abrasive particles bonded to the surface of a honing head, which come into contact with the inner bore surface, performing an oscillating and rotational motion. These motions follow a specific pattern, allowing for the creation of crosshatch patterns on the inner bore surface, thereby improving dimensional accuracy, form accuracy and reducing surface roughness. Common honing processes are divided into four distinct phases: material removal, crosshatching, finish honing, and plateau honing. Each phase corresponds to specific tasks such as material removal from the bore, creating crosshatch patterns, honing the peaks in the crosshatch, and final surface finishing. In computer numerical control (CNC)-based honing machine, individual control commands are typically used to manage each of these phases separately. The commands are combined according to process requirements to achieve the desired honing results. To enhance the efficiency of the honing process, this study focuses on the hydraulic feed of the abrasive strips on the honing head, specifically examining the automatic continuous switching between finish honing and plateau honing. The research analyzes the honing principles, develops a control algorithm for dual-process automatic switching, and validates the process through machining tests. Compared to single-process control, the proposed algorithm significantly improves processing efficiency. Additionally, this algorithm can be applied to other dual-process automatic switching controls, providing valuable insights for the design of CNC honing systems. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. To address the issue of clutter interference in ground-penetrating radar (GPR) imaging using a VNA (Vector Network Analyzer), this paper improves the traditional reverse time migration (RTM) technique for ultra-wideband GPR imaging. The improved method retains the effective signals in the detection wavefield as the valid imaging area and suppresses signals in non-valid areas. Due to variations in the distance between the transmitting and receiving antennas and the number of anomalies in the experiment, the traditional time window cross-correlation is not ideal for this scenario. The improved method automatically applies reasonable windowing to each data channel, avoiding the simultaneous enhancement of clutter interference and effective signals through direct stacking, and preventing the filtering out of effective signals. Experimental results demonstrate that this method, when applied to real measured data and compared with the traditional cross-correlation RTM method, shows advantages in more accurately locating anomalous areas and suppressing clutter interference. This validates that the Multiple Time-Gating Reverse Time Migration (MTG-RTM) method offers better localization and higher imaging accuracy in practical engineering applications. © 2024 IEEE.

GIRP: Energy-Efficient QoS-Oriented Microservice Resource Provisioning via Multi-Objective Multi-Task Reinforcement Learning

Microservice architecture has revolutionized web service development by facilitating loosely coupled and independently developable components distributed as containers or virtual machines. While existing studies emphasize end-to-end latency, this paper investigates energy-efficient quality-of-service (QoS)-oriented microservice provisioning, focusing on both QoS satisfaction and power consumption (PC) conservation. We propose the Green and Intelligent Resource Provision (GIRP) architecture, integrating a data-driven energy-latency-aware resource allocation and scheduling manager to balance latency and PC. To reconcile the trade-offs involved, a dual-objective optimization problem is formulated to minimize latency and energy use by selecting proper servers, allocating CPU cores, and determining service replicas. To address challenges with discrete variables, dual objectives, and implicit mappings, we leverage a model-free deep deterministic policy gradient-based reinforcement learning algorithm. Specifically, we develop a multi-task agent via the Multi-gate Mixture-of-Experts model to simultaneously make two separate actions regarding CPU core numbers and service replica numbers, followed by a single-task agent to determine service scheduling. Extensive experiments on the DeathStarBenchmark testbed validate GIRP's effectiveness, demonstrating approximately 52% resource savings and a 43% reduction in PC compared to leading methods like Sinan, Firm, and heuristic-based algorithms. These results highlight GIRP's capability to optimize microservice orchestration by balancing end-to-end latency and power efficiency. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.

Semi-supervised learning (SSL) is a successful paradigm that can use unlabelled data to alleviate the labelling cost problem in supervised learning. However, the excellent performance brought by SSL does not transfer well to the task of class imbalance. The reason is that the class bias of pseudo-labelling further misleads the decision boundary. To solve this problem, we propose a new plug-and-play approach to handle the class imbalance problem based on a theoretical extension and analysis of distribution alignment. The method, called Basis Transformation Based Distribution Alignment (BTDA), efficiently aligns class distributions while taking into account inter-class *** implements the basis transformation through a learnable transfer matrix, thereby reducing the performance loss caused by pseudo-labelling biases. Extensive experiments show that our proposed BTDA approach can significantly improve performance in class imbalance tasks in terms of both accuracy and recall metrics when integrated with advanced SSL algorithms. Although the idea of BTDA is not complex, it can show advanced performance on datasets such as CIFAR and SVHN. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Predictive Process Monitoring (PPM) aims to predict the future state of running process instances to enable timely interventions to mitigate potential risks. As one of the most fundamental tasks in PPM, process remaining time prediction focuses on preventing timeout occurrences. While various deep learning-based approaches have been developed for this purpose, they often rely on pre-established static prediction models and struggle to maintain accurate predictions when the process undergoes dynamic changes, such as an expanding sales channels. To tackle this challenge, this paper proposes an incremental process remaining time prediction framework by continuously updating the prediction model based on an incremental event log. Specifically, a feature selection strategy is first introduced to extract effective features from event logs. Leveraging effective features can significantly improve the prediction quality by capturing the changes in process information. Then, three incremental log-based updating mechanisms, including period-based updating, quantity-based updating, and concept-drift-based updating, along with a reconstruction strategy, are proposed to dynamically adjust the prediction model in response to business changes. Finally, LSTM, Transformer, and Auto-encoder models are adapted and integrated into the proposed framework. The approach has been implemented and publicly released. Experimental evaluation using nine real-life event logs demonstrate that the proposed framework and its three instantiations (i.e., LSTM-based, Transformer-based, and Auto-encoder-based ones) outperform state-of-the-art techniques in terms of prediction accuracy. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

Semantic information plays a significant role in autonomous vehicles. However, it has remained open how to economically compute and efficiently incorporate semantic information into other frequently applied processes, such as construction of local navigation map, driving decision making and trajectories planning. To address this issue, we introduce Knowledge Distillation to convey semantic reasoning capability. Following the existing intention-guided framework, a semantically incorporated module associates given navigation instruction with acquired visual perception to synthesize driving intention. Our major contribution is to teach the driving intention generator how to propagate considering semantics implicitly. Specifically, we construct a semantic supervisor identical to the driving intention generator. The supervisor transfers semantic reasoning ability to the generator during training process, with which the generator is expected to perform stably and reliably even in extremely sophisticated surroundings or under frequently inaccurate navigation instruction. Through exhaustive experimental validation, our model demonstrates a superior robustness and adaptability compared to the state-of-the-art. Finally, we explain the intrinsic mechanism of our model with visualization. © 2023 IEEE.

Microgrids subjected to secondary cooperative control encounter significant challenges, including operational constraints and clock drifts, adversely affecting their stability and efficiency. This paper provides conditions that assure optimal microgrid performance in both transient and steady-state scenarios, focusing on the effects of clock drifts and fluctuations in load. Furthermore, we introduce a novel approach for designing secondary control parameters, specifically engineered to minimize steady-state discrepancies attributable to clock drifts while ensuring adherence to standards for transient operations. Comprehensive experimental validations corroborate the effectiveness of our proposed solutions. © 2024 IEEE.
