In the field of computer-aided medicine, automated surgical gesture recognition is an important research direction. Its main applications include automated skills assessment, intraoperative guidance, and education and training systems. Current research has focused on robotic surgery, and there is less research on surgical gestures for open surgery. Therefore, in this study, a new simulated open surgery dataset was developed, and a series of surgical gestures for open surgery were defined for closure the abdomen surgery with the cooperation of professional doctors. In addition, this paper uses the classical algorithm 3DCNN and SlowFast model in the field of action recognition to perform offline recognition of surgical gestures for open surgery on the dataset. 3DCNN uses R3D and R(2+1)D models. The experimental results show that on the self-built open surgical dataset, the R3D model has the best surgical gesture recognition results, with an accuracy rate of 90.4%, a precision rate of 90.5%, and a recall rate of 90.0%. © 2024 IEEE.

A cloud platform for engineering drawing course teaching was proposed based on cloud station. The cloud station can solve the common problems existed in engineering drawing course, such as the difficulty of teaching, the heavy work of tutorship, the poor teaching effect, the weak spatial imagination of students, as well as the current difficulty to develop the virtual model resource base and the interaction is not strong. The platform uses Solidworks software to build 3D model library, and combines with CADbro's powerful cloud service and 3D file viewing function to realize the interaction and sharing with cloud model by using web browser. At the same time, we choose bilibili, a popular cultural site for teenagers, to release the explanation videos of exercises, and make use of the convenient way to build the cloud station to integrate, release and manage the resources. The platform realizes self-study and self-test at anytime and anywhere on both PC and mobile devices, and fast jumps the corresponding explanation video and cloud virtual model according to the demand. The virtual model in the cloud can be rotated, cut, distance measured, exploded, parts hidden, moved, 2D viewed and so on by touch. The platform is innovative, extensible, interesting and practical, which can greatly enhance the students' enthusiasm for independent learning, and it can be used reference to the development of engineering drawing teaching resources. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to increase the accuracy of turbulence field reconstruction,this paper combines experimental observation and numerical simulation to develop and establish a data assimilation framework,and apply it to the study of S809 low-speed and high-angle airfoil *** method is based on the ensemble transform Kalman filter(ETKF)algorithm,which improves the disturbance strategy of the ensemble members and enhances the richness of the initial members by screening high flow field sensitivity constants,increasing the constant disturbance dimensions and designing a fine disturbance *** results show that the pressure distribution on the airfoil surface after assimilation is closer to the experimental value than that of the standard Spalart-Allmaras(S-A)*** separated vortex estimated by filtering is fuller,and the eddy viscosity field information is more abundant,which is physically consistent with the observation ***,the data assimilation method based on the improved ensemble strategy can more accurately and effectively describe complex turbulence phenomena.

Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) positioning system has become the main research object in indoor positioning field due to its superior positioning performance. Accuracy at the scale of centimeters is achievable in an ideal positioning scenario. Nonetheless, the intricate and changeable indoor surroundings may cause UWB signals to propagate beyond the line-of-sight (LOS) and weaken in signal strength, resulting in a considerable reduction in the precision of positioning. In this paper, methods for identifying non-line-of-sight (NLOS) errors, alleviating NLOS errors, and integrating multi-sensor information are analyzed and studied to provide reference for improving the NLOS positioning accuracy of UWB. © 2023 IEEE.

Large rotating flexible machines are prone to vibration at high speeds, which is a difficult engineering problem. In this study, we have deeply explored its nonlinear dynamic behavior and vibration mechanism, especially considering the effect of parallel misalignment. Through mathematical modeling and MATLAB simulations, we found that the rotational speed and the amount of misalignment are the key parameters affecting the stability of the system. The results show that the rotational speed and parallel misalignment are the sensitive parameters of the system. When the amount of misalignment is 0.002 mm, with the increase of rotational speed, the elastic beam exhibits nonlinear M-type vibration, doubly periodic and chaotic behaviors, which show high-frequency abrupt excitation;when the angular speed is 50 rad/s, with the increase of the amount of misalignment from 0.001 mm to 0.1 mm, the system exhibits the transformation of doubly periodic, chaotic and proposed periodic motions, and the characteristics of intermittent vibration are significant. These results provide an important theoretical basis for suppressing its nonlinear vibration. © 2024 The Authors.

Multi-objective optimization of heat sink with multi-cross-ribbed-fins for a motor controller

A novel multi-cross-ribbed-fin layout was proposed to supersede the original smooth fin to fulfill the lightweight requirement of the air-cooled heat sink for the electrical vehicle motor controller. The thermal design with multi-cross-ribbed-fins was optimized using the multi-objective optimization method to minimize the chip’s temperature rise and the weight of the heat sink simultaneously. The design variables are the number of multi-cross-ribbed-fins ranging from 12 to 24, the number of cross ribs on either side varying from 1 to 4, and cross rib height in the region of 1.00–2.50mm. The standard k-Ε turbulence model was validated compared to the experimental data for the original heat sink with smooth fins. The Pareto front solution set was obtained by performing the mixed-level orthogonal design procedure with the numerical simulations, constructing the surrogated-based model with backpropagation neural net training, and implementing the genetic algorithm. The numerical results showed that the recommended optimal designs have the multi-cross-ribbed-fin number of 17–19, the number of cross ribs of 2–3, and a cross rib height of 2.13–2.50mm. The maximum decreases in the temperature rise and weight are 7.63% and 9.45%, respectively. For verifying the superiority of current optimal designs, one of the optimal designs of the heat sink, which yields comparative temperature rise of the chip but reduced weight, was selected to be experimentally tested and compared with the data for the original heat sink. © 2022, The Author(s).

Planetary gearboxes find extensive application in wind power generation, aerospace, industrial production and other fields. Harsh operational conditions and prolonged periods of continuous work often lead to various gear damages. Therefore, it is important to continuously monitor the health status of planetary gearboxes. However, the fault-sensitive frequencies of planetary gearboxes used in the existing signal models and fault diagnosis indicators are calculated theoretically or searched artificially. In response to this, this paper proposes a strategy for identifying fault-sensitive frequencies in planetary gearboxes intelligently by combining spectral amplitude analysis with three models: Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Deep Neural Network (DNN). Experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed strategy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Ceramic sanitary products with complex curved surfaces are generally fragile and difficult to *** the industrial robot is utilized to realize the automatic grinding of such products,the precise positioning of the product is required *** this paper,an accurate pose measurement system for complex curved surface parts is designed by point cloud registration *** order to improve the stability of the system,this paper combines the advantages of normal vector features and fast point feature histogram(FPFH)features,and proposes a point cloud registration algorithm based on the rapid extraction of local feature *** results verify that the improved algorithm has improved both efficiency and accuracy,and the system can effectively achieve accurate positioning of products.

Aiming at the problem of external parameter calibration in the combined rotating three-dimensional(3D) scanning process of laser radar and turntable, a fast 3D data scanning and accurate equipment calibration method suitable for industrial application scenarios is proposed. The coordinates of the center of the circle in the laser radar coordinate system are obtained by fitting the coordinates of the center of the circle with the scanning arc. Through the standard size and rotation angle of the target ball, the coordinates of the ball center in the turntable coordinate system are obtained. The rotation parameter R and the translation parameter T of the minimum value of the data set conversion error function in the two coordinate systems are calculated. The experimental results show that the error between the converted data and the actual data is within 0.1 mm, which meets the actual work requirements. This calibration method has the advantages of high accuracy and strong robustness.

In addressing challenges such as the speed change of planetary gearbox (PG) during operation and the complexity in extracting fault features, an order demodulation analysis method based on order tracking (OT) and variational mode decomposition (VMD) is proposed. Non-stationary time domain signals are transformed into relatively stable angular domain signals through angular resampling. The intrinsic mode function (IMF) is obtained by demodulation of the angular multi-component signal using the VMD method. The instantaneous order of a proper IMF is calculated via Hilbert Transform. The sensitive single component is selected by matching the meshing order and the central order of the instantaneous order. Finally, the amplitude of the characteristic order components extracted from the instantaneous order spectrum was used as features and Support Vector Machine (SVM) was employed for the classification of four different conditions in the sun gear. Comparing the results of the proposed method with Deep Neural Networks (DNN) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in diagnosing PGs under non-stationary conditions. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
