Autonomous driving technology greatly contributes to the evolution of intelligent transportation systems (ITSs). As an important sensor, the millimeter-wave (mmWave) radar plays an irreplaceable role in the overall ITSs. In this paper, we use a mmWave automotive radar system to perform measurement in an urban street environment. The radar cross section of key targets is estimated from the measurements, and it is used to calibrate the electromagnetic parameters for the ray-tracing (RT) simulation. The calibrated simulation results are compared with simulation results in distance, angle, and velocity to verify the accuracy and reliability of the RT simulator. The presented method, process, and analysis in this work can be used for the understanding of mmWave radar channel and the design of autonomous driving technology.

Integral Inequalities for the Analysis of Distributed Parameter systems: A Complete Characterization via the Least-Squares Principle

A wide variety of integral inequalities (IIs) have been developed and studied for the stability analysis of distributed parameter systems using the Lyapunov functional approach. However, no unified mathematical framework has been proposed that could characterize the similarity and connection between these IIs, as most of them was introduced in a dispersed manner for the analysis of specific types of systems. Additionally, the extent to which the generality of these IIs can be expanded and the optimality of their lower bounds (LBs) remains open questions. In this study, we introduce two general classes of IIs that can generalize nearly all IIs in the literature. The integral kernels of the LBs of our IIs can contain an unlimited number of weighted L2 functions that are linearly independent in a Lebesgue sense. Moreover, we not only estalish the equivalence relations between the LBs of our IIs, but also demonstrate that these LBs are guaranteed by the least squares principle, implying asymptotic convergence to the upper bound when the kernels functions constitutes a Schauder basis of the underlying Hilbert space. Owing to their general structures, our IIs are applicable in a variety of contexts, such as the stability analysis of coupled PDE-ODE systems or cybernetic systems with delay structures. The number of global Internet of Things devices has increased rapidly and has a wide range of application markets. Access authentication methods for massive heterogeneous IoT devices are complicated, and central servers and trusted platforms cannot take effective measures against tampered devices. Analyzing the problems and challenges faced by IoT devices, this paper proposes a unified authentication scheme for IoT blockchain devices based on PUF. The PUF model is used to authenticate IoT devices, and the model parameters are decomposed into various parts and stored in each node in the blockchain. The homomorphic hash function is used to aggregate the partial authentication response values generated by the distribution in the invisible case to complete the authentication of the device information. It solves the complex and diverse problems of device authentication schemes and realizes the credibility and security of devices data sources and devices information storage stability. Finally, the functional analysis confirmed that the scheme is practical and executable.

Primary frequency regulation plays an important role in a hybrid power system which is composed of battery energy storage systems (BESSs), photovoltaic (PV) systems and thermal power plants. Droop control is a basic primary frequency control method. In this paper, an equivalent droop control method based on hierarchical extreme learning machine (H-ELM) is proposed for hybrid power plants. Therefore the P- f droop characteristics can be fitted by an H-ELM rather than traditional fixed droop control curve. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is justified by the simulation results. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

With the large-scale integration of renewable energy sources such as wind power and photovoltaics, how to use energy storage systems to coordinate and control them has become an indispensable research content. After in-depth research on the output characteristics of wind power and photovoltaic power in a certain area of Ulanqab City, a strategy that can smooth the fluctuation of new energy output and configure energy storage, which the active power output fluctuates as little as possible and meets the national new energy grid-connected fluctuation index. This article discusses how techniques from reinforcement learning (RL) can be exploited to transition to a model-free and scalable wide-area oscillation damping control of power grids. We present two control architectures with distinct features. Performing full-dimensional RL control designs for any practical grid would require an unacceptably long learning time and result in a dense communication architecture. Our designs avoid the curse of dimensionality by employing ideas from model reduction. The first design exploits time-scale separation in the generator electro-mechanical dynamics arising from coherent clustering, and learns a controller using both electro-mechanical and non-electro-mechanical states while compensating for the error in incorporating the latter through the RL loop. The second design presents an output-feedback approach enabled by a neuro-adaptive observer using measurements of only the generator frequencies. The controller exhibits an adaptive behavior that updates the control gains whenever there is a notable change in the loads. Theoretical guarantees for closed-loop stability and performance are provided for both designs. Numerical simulations are shown for the IEEE 68-bus power system model.

Reinforcement learning (RL) has been widely used in decision-making and control tasks, but the risk is very high for the agent in the training process due to the requirements of interaction with the environment, which seriously limits its industrial applications such as autonomous driving systems. Safe RL methods are developed to handle this issue by constraining the expected safety violation costs as a training objective, but the occurring probability of an unsafe state is still high, which is unacceptable in autonomous driving tasks. Moreover, these methods are difficult to achieve a balance between the cost and return expectations, which leads to learning performance degradation for the algorithms. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm based on the long and short-term constraints (LSTC) for safe RL. The short-term constraint aims to enhance the shortterm state safety that the vehicle explores, while the long-term constraint enhances the overall safety of the vehicle throughout the decision-making process, both of which are jointly used to enhance the vehicle safety in the training process. In addition, we develop a safe RL method with dual-constraint optimization based on the Lagrange multiplier to optimize the training process for end-to-end autonomous driving. Comprehensive experiments were conducted on the MetaDrive simulator. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves higher safety in continuous state and action tasks, and exhibits higher exploration performance in long-distance decision-making tasks compared with state-of-the-art methods. This paper proposes a Risk-Averse Just-In-Time (RAJIT) operation scheme for Ammonia-Hydrogen-based Micro-Grids (AHMGs) to boost electricity-hydrogen-ammonia coupling under uncertainties. First, an off-grid AHMG model is developed, featuring a novel multi-mode ammonia synthesis process and a hydrogen-ammonia dual gas turbine with tunable feed-in ratios. Subsequently, a state-behavior mapping strategy linking hydrogen storage levels with the operation modes of ammonia synthesis is established to prevent cost-ineffective shutdowns. The proposed model substantially improves operational flexibility but results in a challenging nonlinear fractional program. Based upon this model, a data-driven RAJIT scheme is developed for the real-time rolling optimization of AHMGs. Unlike conventional one-size-fits-all schemes using one optimization method throughout, the data-driven RAJIT intelligently switches between cost-effective deterministic optimization and risk-averse online-learning distributionally robust optimization depending on actual risk profiles, thus capitalizing on the respective strengths of these two optimization methods. To facilitate the solution of the resulting nonlinear program, we develop an equivalent-reformulation-based solution methodology by leveraging a constraint-tightening technique. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme guarantees safety and yields an overall cost reduction up to 14.6% compared with several state-of-the-art methods. © 2024, CC BY.
